Special thanks to Cathy for answering all my questions. I really appreciate it!
"Anna, you've told us that you're pregnant, but you haven't told us where you plan to
live and raise this child." Victoria said.
Anna uneasily got up from the living room couch and walked to the kitchen. She was about
to give birth at anytime. Anna was also annoyed at her mother's question. They kept asking
her what she was going to do, but she still didn't have an answer yet.
"Mom, you keep asking me the same thing and I will continue to tell you the same thing, I don't know yet." Anna was pouring herself a glass of juice.
"Well, don't you think you should figure it out soon? I mean, that child isn't going to wait until you decide what you want to do." said Victoria.
"All I know right now is that the baby will be born here." Anna said.
"I need some time."
"Time is running out."
"Time's up." Anna said, holding her large belly. "My water just broke."
"Let's get you to the hospital." Victoria said. She grabbed Anna's overnight
bag and drove her to CHOP. Anna was surprised how calm her mother was, but she expected
that since she had given birth so many times.
"Push Anna! One more time!" said Dr. Bennett. She was CHOP's attending OB
doctor, and a friend of Anna's.
Anna pushed; wishing that John were there to see the birth of his child. She continued to push until she heard a soft cry.
"Congratulations Anna!" Dr. Bennett announced. "You have a healthy baby
girl." She handed the baby to Anna. Anna cried tears of joy. "Hello,
sweetheart!" Anna said. "I can't believe you're really here!"
David rushed to the hospital to see Anna. He had been at work when he got the call from
Victoria saying Anna was in labor.
"How's my Anna doing?" he asked Victoria.
"Mother and daughter Sophie Alexandra are doing fine!" Victoria happily
announced. She was happy that she finally had one granddaughter.
David and Victoria went to visit Anna. From seeing her parents support her together, she
realized that her daughter should have two parents supporting her. Anna knew that her
daughter needed a father. "Mom, Dad, I have another thing to tell you."
"If you are pregnant again-" David said.
Anna laughed. "No, it's not anything like that. When Sophie gets a little older I want to move back to Chicago. She needs a father. I see you two standing here giving me all your support and that's what Sophie needs. A family, someone to support her."
David and Victoria stood there, proud of their daughter. "If you ever need anything, we'll be there for you right away." said Victoria. "And if little Sophie Del Amico needs anything too."
"Carter." Anna said firmly. "Her name is Sophie Carter."
Meanwhile back in Chicago, things were getting pretty hot between John Carter and Lucy
Knight.
"We shouldn't be doing this." John said as Lucy kissed him again.
"Well it's better than stitching up your forehead." Lucy had been trying out the new Tae-Bo workout, and in the process knocked John over, cutting his forehead open.
"But I could get in trouble." John said.
"And yet you continue to kiss me!"
John chuckled and moved in for another kiss. Lucy passionately kissed him back. The two
of them were nearly on the floor when Chuni walked in.
"Carter, your patient in-oh excuse me Dr. Carter! I didn't know you were busy!"
Chuni walked out giggling. She couldn't wait to tell everyone what she just saw.
John's face turned red. He excused himself from Lucy and went to hide in the lounge.
By the end of the day everyone knew what John and Lucy had done. Lucy was ready to leave
for the day when she bumped into John in the lounge.
"Heading out?" asked John, opening his locker.
"Yeah, good night Dr. Carter." Lucy said.
"Lucy wait," John said. "I hope I didn't embarrass you today, when we you know."
"You didn't. I just hope I didn't get you in trouble."
"Oh no, don't worry about it. Are we cool?" asked John.
"We are cool. Bye." Lucy left the lounge. She was beginning to feel strong
romantic feelings for John. Lucy hoped that things would get more serious between them.
"I can't believe you're leaving already!" said Victoria. "Promise me that
you will send plenty of pictures of Sophie and tell me about everything she's doing.
Including losing her first tooth, first day of school, and don't forget to send video of
her first steps!"
"Mother! Sophie is only four months old! It will be a long time before any of that." Anna said. "But I will keep in touch."
David was holding his granddaughter. "Take care of yourself Anna. We'll be here if you need anything." David handed Sophie to Anna.
"I'll be okay. Thanks for everything. Good-bye." Anna got on her plane to Chicago. She sat down with Sophie in her lap.
Sophie began to softly cry. "Don't cry Sophie," Anna said comforting her.
"You'll get to see your father soon. You're going to have a family."
