SUMMARY: Ally and Dave are apart once again - Will they come together or remain apart?
The song used in this part, and the song that also
provides its title is "Easy Tonight" by Five for
Fighting.
Previously in the series: Ally realized that Dave was
having flashbacks to his attack and confronted him -
Dave got angry, and told her to go away. Ally left,
realizing that their relationship had come to a halt.
Ally smiled at the little village - It looked like not
a thing had changed....Still the same old little
stores, as kids played about in the town and bought
candy from the candy shop. Ally hit the long country
road that would come to her Grandparent's tiny
FarmHouse. She wished that it was summer so she could
see the flowers. Ally had come to her Grandparent's
for the weekend, as an escape of sorts. She had
gotten there yesterday, and would leave tonight. She
had gone into town to look around, and was now heading
back to the farm. Ally spotted the little white picket
fence that surrounded her Grandparent's house. She
finally came to the long driveway and she pulled in.
Stopping, she climbed out of the car and smiled.....It
was so pretty here.
"Oh good Alyson, you're back...George! Ally's back"
Her grandma shouted. "Oh, come in, get warm."
Ally smiled,"Hi, Grandpa." Ally said as her grandpa
came into the living room.
"Ally, you've gotten so big, and pretty. She looks
just like her mother, Doesn't She Irene?"
Ally's Grandparents were so cute, always wanting to
know what the other one thought. Ally hoped she'd
make a cute grandma some day.
"Yep - spitting image" her Grandma remarked.
Ally hung up her coat "Mmm, smells like you've been
baking cookies Grandma." Ally said "Peanut Butter
cookies at that"
Her grandma smiled and kissed her on the cheek "Eat
all your lunch and you can have some"
Ally laughed and sat down to some delicious smelling
chicken noodle soup...Her grandma made the best
home-made Chicken Noodle Soup. "Oh, it tastes just
like it did when I came here as a girl." Ally said
slurping some soup. Ally just kept on talking and
eating.
"I'll be outside Irene" Grandpa called "I am helping
with the chores today"
"Ok George." Grandma called back, "That man acts like
he is a teenager still"
Ally smiled. "I think I am going to go on the porch
swing later on..." Grandma Started to clear the dishes
away, as Ally insisted on helping do them. Her grandma
Went upstairs to get something warmer on as Ally was
lost in her own little world scrubbing dishes.
"Alyson Delgado, doing dishes. Now that's a sight to
see," said a deep voice from behind.
Ally put her hand to her mouth "Oh My gosh Brandon!"
Back at the hospital, Dave stood at the front desk of
the ER, stifling a yawn. The ER was dead, and he felt
dead too. He couldn't get his mind off the attack, or
Ally for that matter. His thoughts were interupted by
Carter whistling as he came up to the front desk.
"Hey Dave," Carter said, placing a chart back in the
rack. "Oh, you aren't looking too good."
"I just had a bad sleep last night." Dave lied.
"Uh-huh. Looks like you've been having a bad sleep
for quite a few nights." Carter remarked.
Back on the farm, Ally couldn't believe it, she sat
down in amazement "I can't believe it! How..How have
you been?" Ally asked, her mind racing with memories.
"I am doing good, and from the looks of ya you seem to
be doing real good " Brandon said.
"Wow this is so weird"Ally said trying to comprehend
everything. She would have seen him if he would have
made it to Chicago that last time, but she didn't
expect to see him here.
"That it is, that it is" Brandon said putting his hat
back on..."Would you like to take a walk with me? I
Found something you might like to see...Found it the
other day"
Ally jumped up "Sure let me get my coat..."Ally and
Brandon walked outside and she kept up with his pace.
"Whats a Pretty girl like you doing un-married?" He
suddenly asked, over a period of silence.
"Don't have time for it" Ally replied, knowing that it
wasn't the real reason.
"Oh yeah, that sounds like you." Brandon said looking
at her
"Oh, and what about you - You're not married either,
so don't accuse me" Ally said, crossing her arms.
Brandon looked up "Waiting for Miss Right to come
along, that's all"
Ally smiled. "Oh my gosh its still here, it's sooo old
now..." Ally said as they came to an old tire swing,
one where they spent countless hours swinging and
jumping off of it into the pond. Ally put her hand on
the old rope that still attatched it to the old tree.
"Yup, and there's our names..." Brandon pointed to the
tree.
Ally looked at the tree where the carved names
*Alyson* & *Brandon* were inscribed into the tree.
"Wow, Look it how crooked they are" She smiled "This
is so pretty. Thanks for showing me - it's a nice
memory to keep"
"Get On" Brandon said, pointing to the tire swing.
"What?"Ally said, taken back.
"Come on, get on the tire, you know you want to"
Ally laughed "Like heck I do, it would break."
"Come on."
Ally sighed and bit her lip. It was a no-win
conversation, so she carefully put her feet through
the tire and stood on it. While fearing that it would
tear at any second, all of the sudden Brandon grabbed
hold of it and pushed her.
"Brandon, Stop! You are going to make it break!"
Ally screamed, but after a few more pushes Ally was
finally able to get down, laughing as she tried to
catch her breath. "You could have killed me" She said
hitting him.
"Hey, now you're the one who got on"Brandon said
ducking from the hit
"Oh, and like you wouldn't have made me if I didn't"
They both kept silent as they made their way back to
the house. "Its so good to see you, I am glad you
haven't changed any." Brandon finally spoke up
stopping to look at Ally.
"Its good to see you too, its been like forever since
I've seen you..."Ally said as she felt his eyes upon
her.
Brandon reached out and grabbed her hand. "Hey," he
whispered softly.
Ally's heart started to beat faster as she turned
around pulling her hand away. "I'll race ya" Ally
smiled.
"You're on....ready...set...go."
Ally started running after he said 'set'.
"No fair you cheater." Brandon called out
Ally made it to the tree in front of the farmhouse and
laughed as Brandon came stumbiling behind.
"You cheater" Brandon said leaning agains the tree
catching his breath.
"How else am I going to beat you?"Ally said as she
slowly caught her breath..
Brandon smiled and leaned closer to Ally.
Ally gently pushed him away "I...I have to go..." Ally
said as an excuse, "It was good to see you...But I
have to go." Ally walked up to the porch looking back
at Brandon who was still standing by the tree .
"GoodBye Alyson" He said.
Ally waved and walked in to get her stuff...Ally said
her goodbyes and was showered in more kisses as she
made her way to her car with a tin full of cookies.
Ally didn't know what was wrong with her but she
suddenly felt awful. She never expected to see Brandon
again.....She tried to push these thoughts away.
"Look, Carter," Dave said, back at County General,
"I'm fine."
"Dave - I'm sorry, but you seem to be on the edge
lately." Carter leaned back, "I know what it's like,
having everyone accuse you of being crazy or
something, but believe me, if there is something wrong
with you, don't try to fix it yourself. I tried to
fix it myself....And well, we both know what
happened." Carter walked away then, leaving Dave in
deep thought.
Ally walked into her apartment sighing. How could
life be so confusing? There was Brandon, there was
Dave. There was Dave pushing her away, and Brandon
pulling her towards him.
The phone rang across the empty apartment, and Ally
headed towards it.
Shotgun fire anybody home?
I got two dimes in the telephone
Alright It's not easy tonight
"Hello?...Hello?..." Ally said, but all she heard was
silence, then a dial tone.
She's In.
Over my head
and it's not easy
it's not easy tonight
Dave sat in his apartment, phone in hand. He had
called Ally, he had hung up on her. Why couldn't he
just talk?
Shotgun fire anybody home?
I got two dimes in the telephone
Alright It's not easy tonight
Ally hung up the phone, looking at it strangely. Who
was it that had called her?
Must have been the wrong number, she guessed as she
went off to bed.
