Previously in the series: Dave went to therapy, and
realized he needed Ally. He apologized, Ally forgave
him

The sound of Ally's alarm clock woke her up, and
yawning she got out of bed. After hitting the alarm
off, she looked at the roses on her nightstand. They
were the flowers that Dave had gotten her, but by now
they had dried out a bit. She touched the slightly
crisp flower with her fingers, then proceeded to get
ready.

It was Thanksgiving day, and both she and Dave would
be working from two until ten. She didn't mind
working Thanksgiving, because both her parents were
off traveling in Europe. The only other person she
would have spent the holiday with was Dave, and he was
going to be working with her anyway.

She had slept late, and by now it was one. She
continued getting dressed and eating breakfast - well,
really more of a lunch, until it was time to go. Her
car was in the shop, so she took the El.
At exactly two o'clock, she arrived at County General.
 She loved being on time.

"Ally, I'm glad you're here...." Kerry said, crutching
past her. "There are five food poisoning patients in
exam three that need compazine shots in the butt...."
She said before disappearing into a trauma room.

"Happy Thanksgiving to you too....." Ally muttered as
she headed off to exam three.

Brandon Rogers walked in to County General and made
his way to the front Desk. "Hiya, I am here to see
Alyson Delgado." He said to the desk clerk.

"Why do you need to see her?" Randi questioned before
she paged her.

"Well, um, I am her patient" Brandon said

"Okay, sit down over there, and me page her for you"
Randi said, pointing to chairs, and picking up the
phone.

Brandon did as he was told and picked up magazine, but
watched the front desk.

"Hey Randi...." A guy with brown hair and a blue scrub
top started, walking into the front desk area, "Do you
know where Ally is?"

"Nope, sorry Dave. I just paged her because she needs
to see a patient." Randi said, picking up a chart.
"Here, Weaver wants you to take this."

"Thanks anyway, Randi." The guy she called Dave said,
walking off to another room.

"Randi? I got the page" Ally walked in and said,
putting her hands on the desk.

"Your patient is over there," Randi said, looking up
from her magazine.

"Huh?" Ally said, but then she turned around and saw
Brandon. She rolled her eyes and walked over to him.
"Patient huh?" She said folding her arms across her
chest.

Brandon looked up. "I think I am getting an infection
in this cut," he replied, sounding helpless.

Ally laughed "Oh brother...Why didn't you go to the
hospital in your town?"

"I uh, wanted a good doctor..." Brandon lied.

Ally arched her eyebrow "Well, seeing as though I'm
only a nurse, I'll have to find you a good doctor."

Brandon stood up "Or nurse...."

Ally finally motioned him to follow her, "Okay, I have
to hurry though, I do have other patients to see."

"Thank you, this is mighty nice of ya, Ally"

"Sure..." She said holding open the door for exam one,
"Okay, let's put some peroxide in that cut, and I'll
give you some antibiotic gel you can apply to the
cut." Ally opened a drawer and took out a Band-Aid and
some peroxide. "This will sting a bit." She held his
hand and put some on his cut "You call this a cut?"

"Yeah, well it's kind of old, but I didn't mend it
properly so it must have gotten infected"

Ally just turned around and grabbed the Band-Aid.
"There, you're all set." She said handing him a bag
full of Band-aides and creams for it.

"Thanks, I appreciate it Ally." He paused, "Hey can I
take up just a few more minutes of your time?"

Ally sighed, "What now?"

"I gotta show you something outside...Please?" He
begged.

"Okay, I am giving you two minutes, Brandon." Ally
walked outside with Brandon, "What is it?"

"Over here.." She followed him to a brand new shiny
grey truck. "Like it?" he asked

"Uh...yeah. I am not a truck person though" She looked
inside the window

"I bought it yesterday, it rides real good...Hey, get
in check out the inside."

Ally walked over and opened the door and sat in it
"Wow, leather seats and all. I'm sure you'll have fun
with this"

"I am sure I will." Brandon replied as he got in the
other side. "Do you want to go dancing tonight?" He
asked.

Ally looked up at him uncomfortably. "I'm sorry - I
can't."

"Oh, come on, I promise not to step on your foot..."

Ally smiled "No, it's not like that. I Can't."

Brandon put his hands on the steering wheel. "It's
That Dave guy right?"

"Huh?" Ally said surprised...How did he know Dave?
She had never mentioned him.

"The girl at the front desk was talking to a guy named
Dave...He asked where you were"

"Oh." Ally replied softly.

"Am I right?"Brandon questioned, already knowing the
answer as Ally nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?" he
asked.

"I don't know. Every time I tried to, I just
couldn't....I didn't want to hurt you."

Brandon sighed "Do you love him?"

Ally quickly looked back over at him, thinking of
Dave, and the roses he had brought to her so many
nights ago, and it almost brought tears to her eyes.
"I..Yes I do" She replied softly. "I sometimes forget
how much we were meant for each other." She added.

Brandon nodded feeling hurt, and jealous...Dave was so
lucky... and of course it didn't take a genius to
figure that out that she really loved him - He noticed
how when she spoke it came from the heart, and that
her eyes sparkled while talking about it.

"If he ever treats you bad, you just call me and I'll
be there for you Ally."Brandon finally said.

Ally tried to smile. "I better get back to work....You
take care, you hear?" Ally said climbing out

"You too. Remember what I said...I'm here for you."

Ally smiled and closed the door as she walked back to
the hospital. Brandon put the key in, started the car
up, and drove away.

It would be ten at night before she had time to find
Dave. There had been so many patients - What she
liked to call turkey overdoses. Ally walked into the
lounge to see Dave at his locker. He smiled and
immediately began talking.

"What a day....Thanksgiving's always crazy though."
Dave said, closing his locker. "Say, you want to go
have a Thanksgiving dinner? There's this place
open....I'm not sure what kind of food they have, but
I don't just want to go home tonight, you know?"

"Sounds great. I, uh, do need to talk to you though."
 She said, grabbing her jacket.

"We can do that when we get there." Dave said as they
headed for the place.

bar_er.jpg (2255 bytes)

They had come to a small place. Not too fancy, more
like a diner, when Dave broke the silence

"I have to tell you something....I'm in therapy right
now. I've been to a couple sessions - I have one
tomorrow in fact. I just wanted you to know that." For
some reason it was hard for him to admit this.

"Oh, it will be good for you. Believe me, I know how
it feels. And I am always here for you." Ally smiled
and kissed him on the forehead. "Thanks for telling
me."

"You said you had something to tell me too?" Dave
asked, remembering this.

"Well, I went to my grandma and grandpa's farm while
we were apart. I met up with Brandon - you know, my
friend from ages ago." She paused, "Well, he came to
the hospital today, and he asked me to go dancing
tonight....I told him no, of course, and I told him
that I loved you....I just wanted to be honest with
you" Ally smiled

"Well, I trust you and I know that nothing happened.
I'm glad you told me." He paused for a moment taking a
breath, as a song started to play. "He asked you to
go dancing, huh?"

"Yeah." Ally said, wondering what Dave was getting
at.

Dave stood up, and held his hand out, "Mind if I steal
his idea, and will you dance with me?"

"Of course." Ally smiled as they started to dance.

You can run, and you can hide
But I'm not leaving, less you come with me
We've had our problems, but I'm on your side
You're all I need, please believe in me
