Part 18 - Have Yourself a Marry Little Christmas

SUMMARY: The Maluccis spend Christmas day together while planning Ally and Dave's wedding.

Previously in the Series: Dave proposed to Ally, and
she said yes.


After a half and hour drive, Dave pulled into the
driveway of the yellow house. He had grown up in that
house  lived in it since he was born. They got out of
the car and as the walked up the stairs, Dave watched
as Ally nervously played with her ring.

"They'll love you." He said as he opened the door.
Ally and Dave were spending Christmas day with his
family, and they were finally going to meet her.

He took Ally's coat from her, took off his own and
hung them up on the hooks. Just as he finished, a
little blonde haired blue eyed boy ran into the front
hall.

"Uncle Dave, Uncle Dave!" The boy yelled and managed
to wrap himself around Dave's legs/

Dave unwrapped him from his leg and picked him up.
"Bobby  What's new?"

"I got a train from Grandma and Grandpa! It runs
around a track!" Bobby exclaimed excitedly

"All by itself?" Dave feigned astonishment and looked
at his nephew.

"All by itself!" The little boy's face lit up. "You
have to see it!"

"How about you show me after dinner?" He said, still
holding the boy. "Bobby, this is Ally  I'm going to
marry her." He explained. "Ally, this is Dana's son,
Bobby. He's three."

"Three and a half." Bobby corrected.

"Three and a half." Dave repeated and observed Ally
saying hello to Bobby. "So Bobby  What do you think
of her?"

"She's pretty."

"Yes she is." He smiled. "Does she get your thumbs up
approval? Dave watched as Bobby nodded and gave her a
thumbs up. "Alright man, give me five on that!" He
said and carried Bobby into the living room where
everyone else was. "She got Bobby's thumbs up
approval." He announced to the entire family, then
turned to explain to Ally, "No one can get in without
a thumbs up approval from Bobby."

"Too bad Bobby wasn't around when Hannah was here."
Irene snorted.

"Irene  you shut your mouth, we have company." Dave's
mother scolded, then walked over to Ally, giving her a
hug. "And wonderful company at that. She's lovely Dave
 absolutely adorable." The short brunette woman said.
"I'm Dave's mother, you can call me Charlotte."

Dave took Ally to his father, a tall graying blonde
man. "Ally, this is my dad, James."

"Nice to meet you ." His father shook Ally's hand.

Dave went over to Dana, and handed her Bobby. "Here 
take your son." He said then continued with the
introductions. "This is Dana, and her husband Greg."

Dana, who had her hands occupied with holding Bobby,
smiled and said, "Nice to meet you  I've heard so
much about you." Dana was the oldest, had glasses and
her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail.

Next was Katie. "You of course know Katie."

"Hi Ally  Didn't I tell you the Malucci house is pure
madness?" She exclaimed and gave her a hug.

"Sara couldn't be here today - She's at her in-laws."
Dave continued down the line. "This is Jane, and her
husband Paul." He introduced the petite blonde with a
smile from ear to ear, who gave Ally a hug

"It is so great to meet you.....A new person in the
family  You look so nice, oh and the ring  it's
lovely, Dave. I can't believe you're getting married,
Dave! Tell us the story of your engagement!" Jane said
talking nonstop.

"Janie  Katie's told you it five times, Mom's told
you twice, and you've heard once from Dave himself 
Enough already!" Irene interrupted.

"But it's such a romantic story....." Jane exclaimed.

"Sure it's very romantic  But if I hear it one more
time, I think I'll go crazy!" Irene said

"And you don't want that happening  Believe me." Dave
said, then introduced. "Ally, this is Irene."

Irene had short curly hair and a look on her that
meant she was studying Ally. She shook Ally's hand,
and then sat down, as did Ally and Dave. "So tell us
about yourself, Ally  If we're going to make a
judgement of you, we need more to work with." She
joked  sort of
 
Ally smiled, and sat down, as a bazillion names
floated threw her head. "It's really nice to be
here...I just hope I can remember all these names.."
She smiled brightly, actually thinking to herself she
could make it. "And the meal looks wonderful
Mrs..Malucci" She said as they all sat down to eat.
She then turned to Irene, "Now, If everyone wants to
here my boring life story, or at least some of
it...Here goes - I grew up in Paris, I lived there
most of my life, until nursing school...Where I
traveled around a bit...I eventually did work in a
hospital as a nurse in Paris, but I didn't like it
there, and I was offered a position in Chicago. I
didn't really want to be so far from home...But I
went, and that's where I met Dave.." She smiled "I
don't have any brothers or sisters because my Mother
wasn't able to have kids...or so they thought, at
least."
 
"So Irene, does she get your thumbs up approval?" Dave
joked.

"She's close." Irene winked, and Dave knew that Ally
had passed the 'test'. "So Paris - what was that like?
I was suppose to go, but my idiot of a husband thought
that London would be better. I almost killed him." She
muttered.
 
Ally smiled, "Oh Paris is lovely. I enjoyed it
growing up...Actually, I've been to London, it's not
bad..." She smiled "But, yes Paris is probably more
likeable." She looked over at Dave whose face was
literally shining...."So, what was life like for all
you of your girls...I mean having Dave around, in the
beginning I couldn't keep him away..." She laughed

"Sure, London is great, but the principle of the
matter is I didn't get what I wanted!" Irene said
laughed. "Dave, how can I put this nicely?....Was a
pain in the ass growing up."

"Irene!" Jane exclaimed.

"Shut up, Jane we know you agree....." Dana added

"Thank you Dana....We were an all girl group til you
showed up." Irene said, practically accusing Dave.

"It's not like I had a choice, Irene." He said.

"True....You play that card too much Dave." She
smirked. "I'm kidding! But he was a pain in the ass."

"Especially when he was a baby." Dana added. "He would
always get in my stuff."

"And then he grew up...Didn't get much better." Irene
playfully ruffled his hair. "His taste in girls was
awful. Til now, of course."

"Uggh - No offense Dave, but I hated Hannah." Katie
said truthfully.

"Well now I hate her too." He said.

"Man she was a bitch - And coming from me.....That's
bad." Irene shook her head. "Did you hear she's moving
out to Vegas? With some guy who runs a casino or
something?"

"No I didn't. Well, good riddance to her." He said. "I
almost feel like I should warn the poor boy.....Course
if he's keeping her away from me, that's just fine."

"So he pestered you in the beginning? I'm nosy Ally, I
need details." Irene questioned.
 
Ally laughed "Well, if you call following me around
every second of the day, kissing me goodbye without
hardly knowing me, and finally bugging me so much I
spilled my heart out to him..." She laughed "But don't
get me wrong, I truly am glad we're together."

"You poor girl." Irene shook her head, laughing.
"Dave's good to talk to, I'll give him that....Of
course, you can't get him to shut up half the time. So
how much of the wedding do you have planned?" She
asked looking straight at Ally.

Ally sat up straighter. "Not much actually. Dave and I
where just going over a few things yesterday....We'd
like a wedding in early June - June Tenth, actually."
She smiled "And I was wondering would you girls like
to help me plan? I am so excited..I've never had any
sisters, so I think it would be totally terrific" She
smiled

"Do you have a caterer yet?" Irene questioned.
"Because I do catering on the side, and if you need
one I'd be happy to do it."

"That would be great, Irene." Dave replied.

"I'll help out too." Dana said.

"I'm in." Katie smiled.

"This will be so much fun! Oh, I love weddings!" Jane
exclaimed, practically levitating out of her chair.

"I'll help out with the other stuff too. Someone's
gotta control Janie here." Irene smiled. "So what else
do you need - give us a bunch of stuff here."
 
Ally smiled, This was going to be better then she
thought...She was glad. "Since everyone's eager to
help...I am not sure what I want the bridesmaids
dresses..well your guy's dresses to be.." She smiled
"Yes, all of you are going to be my bridesmaids..."
She then got on with everything else. "We need to rent
a hall for the reception - anyone know of a good one?
Also, Invitations - I have an idea of what I want
them to look like, but it would be nice to take one of
you with me so I can get some ideas...and well of
course I need to pick out a dress" Ally leaned back.
"Okay, so we haven't planned a single thing, But well-
what are almost sister in-laws for!" Ally smiled "I
have most of it planned out in my head, I just needed
the boost to get it all running along"

"Man, you're starting to sound like Jane when she was
planning her wedding.....That is never good. Okay,
take this." She threw her a pen and piece of paper.
"Write down all the people you want at the wedding. As
for invitations - pick simple basic ones.....Nobody's
going to be framing them, so go for basic as
possible." She paused, then continued. "Dresses -
absolutely not purple. I draw the line there......But
the best way to do that is dress shopping...."

"We can go sometime, all of us together." Ally said,
then leaned over to Dave. "I'm so happy I'm marrying
you."

"Aw, that's so sweet and romantic...." Jane exclaimed,
placing a hand over her heart.

"Well God bless us, everyone." Irene said
sarcastically. "Now - Let's get this wedding planning
going...."

It was just the beginning.....But they would have a
wonderful time. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a
good night!
