“Mother wished you to have this,” Draco blinked tear-swollen eyes at Narcissa Malfoy’s final bequeathal. Harry took the tiny gold, rounded pendant, understanding that it had been precious to Draco's mother.

“It’s a berlok,” Draco murmured. “Mother received it on her wedding day from her mother-in-law. It’s a Viking heirloom given to all Malfoy brides upon their acceptance into the family. She had it engraved with a rune for you. Sowilo. It stands for success and honor. It also represents life-force and health.”

Now Harry blinked back tears. Allowing him the Malfoy name had been appeasement. This? This was acceptance.
