PAPA FREDERICK BAUER
Rick’s great-grandfather. First patriarch of the show. Rick is named for him.

BERT BAUER
Rick’s beloved grandmother, matriarch and heart of the show. She passed away in 1986, and Rick decided to kick his drug addiction at her funeral.

BILL BAUER
Rick’s grandfather who had a second family after faking his death. He died for real in 1983 when evil Eli Simms pushed him out a window in Chicago.

MIKE BAUER
Rick’s uncle, an attorney. Father of Hope Bauer Spaulding. Grandfather to Alan-Michael Spaulding. Sworn enemy of Alan Spaulding. Briefly dated Lillian Raines. Currently works for the federal government.

HOPE BAUER SPAULDING
Rick’s cousin and Phillip’s stepmother. Her marriage to Alan was destroyed by his cold, aloof manner and her alcoholism.

ED BAUER
Ed’s father and one-time Chief of Staff at Cedars Hospital. A recovering alcoholic. Had an affair with Lillian Raines that indirectly led to the death of his beloved wife, Maureen.

LESLIE JACKSON BAUER
Rick’s mother. Was really in love with his uncle Mike and had a tempestuous relationship with Ed. Died when she was struck by a drunk driver. Rick was a very young child at the time.

HOLLY NORRIS READE
Rick’s stepmother, who gave birth to Roger Thorpe’s daughter Blake while married to Ed.

MAUREEN REARDON BAUER
Another one of Rick’s stepmothers, Maureen wed Ed in the early 80s through her death in 1993, following Ed and Lillian’s affair. Maureen was Michelle’s adoptive mother.

CLAIRE RAMSEY
The doctor who dated Kelly Nelson, took Rick’s virginity, and then got pregnant by Ed. Michelle’s biological mother.

MICHELLE BAUER SANTOS
Rick’s little sister. Phillip and Beth’s flower girl.

DANNY SANTOS
Michelle’s ex-mobster husband.

ROBBIE SANTOS
Danny and Michelle’s young son.

JUDE COOPER BAUER
Rick’s young son with Harley Cooper. His birth caused a rift between Phillip (Harley’s almost ex-husband at the time) and Rick, which has since healed.

HILLARY BAUER
Ed and Mike’s half-sister, a nurse, killed by an exploding music box in the mid-80’s.

JOHNNY BAUER
A distant Bauer cousin who became a close friend of Rick’s when he moved to Springfield. He left town to go to the side of his love, Roxie Shayne, who was convalescing in a mental institution in Switzerland.

KELLY NELSON
Ed’s godson who lived in the Bauer’s garage apartment.

MEL BOUDREAU BAUER
Rick’s current wife who is pregnant with their first child together.
