NICK
A truly magical sidewalk Santa that helped Phillip and Beth find shelter, food, and employment they needed to survive in New York City. He helped Beth to tell Phillip about the rape, and assisted Rick and Mindy in their search after Rick saved Nick’s life from a heart attack. From time to time, Nick visits his friends at Christmas to give much needed advice and assistance—whether it be to give love advice, help with grief, or delay evil district attorneys.

TRUDY
Rick and Mindy’s boss at the Circus Underground. She bought one of Beth’s drawings—a portrait of Phillip as a clown—for $20. The picture led Rick and Mindy to Phillip and Beth.

CHIP WINTHROP
A conceited classmate of Phillip and Rick’s at Lincoln Prep that was completely unhelpful to both of them in any way by refusing to help Phillip find employment and then refusing to help Rick find Phillip.

JAMES THE BUTLER
Chip’s clueless and forgetful butler who was tricked into letting Rick and Mindy stay in Chip’s vacant apartment, thinking they were house guests from Amsterdam.
