Q&A: Vincent IrizarrySOD: 7/31/84 Q: If you could change your character, what would you make him do? A: "I'm really happy with my character. I think it's right on the mark and I wouldn't want anything to change right now (as far as a trait). What I would like changed, however, is the small Honda motorbike they have Lujack riding. He is the leader of a gang, after all. And he should be riding a copped-up Harley (1200 cc's) modified like a Hell's Angel bike and carrying an Armando Stiletto. That would be more realistic!" SOD: 12/10/91 Q: Is Lujack really dead? A: "In a way. Our stage manager is always [saying]: 'When Lujack comes out, go here.' [Once] I said, 'Nick, Nick' and he said, 'Oh yeah.' Then he did it again. I don't even tell him anymore." SOD: 2/15/94 Q: Would you ever like to reprise Lujack? A: "No. I gave Lujack his first breath, so I thought, 'Why not give him his last breath?' But he's still alive in the hearts and minds of people who watch the show." SOD: 10/24/95 Q: If you could give yourself a soap award, what would it be? A: "Most Patient, because I've been waiting for something to happen with my character for so long." SOD: 11/9/99 Q: What was the most soap-like thing that happened to you in real life? A: "So many soap-like things have happened to me in real life, I don't even want to bring them up. I don't want to revisit them, they're too painful [laughs]. There have been too many." SOD: 3/7/00 Q: Which co-star have you learned the most from? A: "I learned a lot working with Beverlee McKinsey (ex-Alexandra, GL). I learned the importance of being prepared and the need for discipline, and what it means to dig as deep as you possibly can to get into a role. On this show [AMC], David Canary amazes me. I feel his performances are astounding on a day-to-day basis. I don't think there's anybody I've ever worked with who's as consistent as he is. The guy is just amazing." |
