Q&A: Krista Tesreau

SOD: 11/6/84
(Mindy, GL)

Q: What was the most difficult scene you've ever had to do?

A: "I pretaped a scene with Michael O'Leary (Rick) where Mindy had to tell him about a fight that Phillip and Lujack had had in the hospital. But since that fight scene was going to be taped AFTER my scene with Rick, I wasn't sure about how much to play up how terrible the fight between Lujack and Phillip really was, because I hadn't seen it yet."

Q: Whose work do you admire the most on the soaps?

A: "It has to be Kimmer (Kim Zimmer/Reva Lewis, GL). She is always prepared and on the money. She likes to kid around a lot, but when the cameras start rolling, she is ALWAYS in character. Kim has a real calming effect on all of us. We get along real well."

Q: What do you remember most about your TV wedding?

A: "Which wedding [laughs]?! No, really, I remember three things from my wedding to Kurt: 1) Mark Lewis was so handsome, he looked like a prince; 2) I was wearing my elephant slippers during the close-up shot while I was saying my vows because I had been wearing high-heels all day; and 3) it was a perfect day. Just beautiful. The trees looked gorgeous. In fact, it was a perfect fantasy wedding--even better than the royal wedding."

Q: Who was your first boyfriend? Where are they now?

A: "I attended an all-girls high school and I was very career-oriented so I didn't have time for a boyfriend. But, I remember when I was six years old and in kindergarten class, there was a boy named Steve (also six). One time, we were watching a film. The teacher turned the lights out and he kissed me. The teacher saw it and she put him on the other side of the room. I have absolutely no idea where he is."

Q: What are the most common mistakes that soap newcomers make?

A: "Some of the novices think they know all the ins and outs of the business. When I was taking piano lessons, I remember thinking that I knew this one piece. My teacher said, 'No, darling. You won't know this song for another two to three years. It must settle in your fingers and you must be so into it.' That's how I think of acting; it settles with you. It's when you know that you don't know it all, then you are ahead of the game."

Q: For actors who are no longer on shows: What would it take to get you back?

A: "I would like to have the flexibility to return to California from time to time. Also, I would want to work with some of my favorite actors [on GL] -- Jordan Clarke (Billy), Robert Newman (Josh), Kim Zimmer (Reva), Michael O'Leary (Rick) and Grant Aleksander (Phillip)."
