10/12/00 • THE ONE WITH MONICA'S THUNDER

 

IN THE SEASON PREMIERE, MONICA FLITS FROM GLAD TO MAD TO SAD -- In the season premiere, minutes after Chandler proposes to her, an ecstatic Monica plans to celebrate on the town with her friends, but her mood darkens when she catches Ross and Rachel kissing, and she angrily accuses Rachel is trying to upstage her on her special night. Meanwhile, Ross and Rachel try to set the ground rules for their temporary fling while Joey frets about trying to look 19 for a commercial audition and Phoebe only cares about being the music act at Monica and Chandler's wedding.  

 

10/12/00 • THE ONE WITH RACHEL'S BOOK

 

WILL MONICA'S FUTURE WEDDING BE A DO-IT-YOURSELF AFFAIR? -- Monica's dream of an expensive fairytale wedding fizzles when she learns what her parents (guest stars Elliott Gould and Christina Pickles) have done with her set-aside wedding fund. Meanwhile Rachel fumes when a teasing Joey stumbles onto her juicy, late-night reading material, and Ross arrives home and confronts Phoebe and her male client over her thriving little massage practice -- secretly conducted smack dab in the middle of his apartment.

 

10/19/00 • THE ONE WITH PHOEBE'S COOKIES

 

CHANDLER'S FATAL FLAW WITH FUTURE FATHER-IN-LAW; ELLIOTT GOULD GUEST-STARS -- A desperate Chandler seeks to bond with Monica's dad (guest star Elliott Gould) by playing racquetball with him but the sporting effort backfires when the future son-in-law accidentally gets too up-close-and-personal. Elsewhere, Rachel tries to teach landlubber Joey how to sail without falling overboard while Monica seeks to replicate the secret recipe of Phoebe's late grandmother by deconstructing her last remaining cookie.

 

10/26/00 • THE ONE WITH RACHEL'S ASSISTANT

 

WILL RACHEL'S BOY-TOY JOY BE FOILED? -- When Rachel is promoted, she gleefully considers hiring a young, inexperienced hunk (guest star Eddie Cahill) as her executive assistant over a more qualified -- but matronly -- candidate, while Joey regrets his brief moment as a spoiled temperamental star just as his wretched cop-and-robot series premieres. Back at home, Ross, Chandler and Monica self-destruct when they engage in a tell-all free-for-all, exposing humiliating secrets from each other's dark pasts that they were sworn to keep mum.

 

11/2/00 • THE ONE WITH THE ENGAGEMENT PICTURE

 

RACHEL'S CRUSH ON HANDSOME ASSISTANT LEADS TO CRASH-AND-BURN -- Rachel's crush on her hunky new assistant Tag (guest star Eddie Cahill) gets out of hand when she arranges for Tag to hang out with Joey rather than with the office hotties who swarm him -- but her scheme wilts when he begins to sound like Joey and employs many of his new friend's dumbed-down flirting techniques. Elsewhere, Phoebe and Ross trade competitive barbs when they begin dating feuding ex-spouses (guest stars Julia Campbell and David Sutcliffe) while Monica cannot seem to get one good photo of herself with Chandler who is photogenically challenged.

 

11/9/00 • THE ONE WITH THE NAP PARTNERS

 

MONICA WORRIES THAT CHANDLER WILL DUMP HER IF SHE GOES FROM PHAT TO FAT -- Monica frets when she meets a long-lost "camp girlfriend" from Chandler's teen years and learns that he broke up with her because she was f-a-t, so she orders him to apologize to the woman face-to-face -- which only gives him another chance to put his foot in his mouth. Elsewhere, an eager Phoebe and Rachel vie for the honor of becoming Monica's bridesmaid, but they make the mistake of appointing Ross and Joey as the decisive judges. In the meantime, Ross and Joey fall asleep while watching a macho movie and wake up in unintended positions.

 

11/16/00 • THE ONE WITH ROSS'S LIBRARY BOOK

 

KRISTIN DAVIS GUEST-STARS; JANICE RETURNS -- After an intimate date with a bright, likable woman (Kristin Davis, "Sex and the City"), Joey intends to move on and forget her, but she bonds so well with Rachel and Phoebe that they actively campaign to convince Joey to continue dating her. Meanwhile, a horrified Monica stumbles upon Janice (guest star Maggie Wheeler), Chandler's annoying ex-girlfriend, but somehow allows her to invite herself to their wedding. Elsewhere, Ross is delighted to learn that his dissertation is available in the university's library -- until he learns that it's held in a dusty corner of the stacks where romantic liaisons are popular.

 

11/23/00 • THE ONE WHERE CHANDLER DOESN'T LIKE DOGS

 

WILL RACHEL PLAY TAG -- OR JUST HIDE-AND-SEEK -- AT THANKSGIVING DINNER? -- A beaming Rachel is happily surprised when her hunky young assistant Tag shows up for Thanksgiving dinner with the gang at Monica's but when she is warned to play it cool with him, blabbing Joey blows her cover with one ill-timed, impulsive blurt. At the same time, Phoebe sneaks a puppy into her apartment, forcing an allergic Chandler to confess why he hates dogs while a stubborn Ross refuses to concede defeat -- even if it means missing dinner -- when he cannot name all 50 states.

 

12/7/00 • THE ONE WITH ALL THE CANDY

 

WILL RACHEL PAY FOR PROMOTING HER ASSISTANT TO BE HER NEW BOYFRIEND? -- Rachel and her new younger boyfriend Tag set the ground rules for their new romance -- especially dicey since she's the boss and he's her assistant -- but their biggest snag is facing the embarrassment of having her pay for everything they do. Back at the apartment building, Monica is in a festive holiday mood as she whips up some special candy for her anonymous neighbors but the stuff is so good, the mob nearly breaks down her door demanding more. Meanwhile, Ross is moved by Phoebe's bike-less childhood story, so he buys her a new two-wheeler -- and discovers he must also teach the klutz to ride as well.

 

12/14/00 • THE ONE WITH THE HOLIDAY ARMADILLO

 

 

DREIDELS ARE NO MATCH FOR SANTA WHEN ROSS TRIES TO INTRODUCE HIS YOUNG SON TO CHANUKAH -- Ross is thrilled to have his young son Ben for the holidays and wants to introduce the tyke to Chanukah -- but the festival of lights pales when a wide-eyed Ben clamors for only Christmas carols, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and especially, Santa Claus. Down the hall, Phoebe eagerly anticipates moving back into her newly refurbished apartment again with Rachel but feels she must first drive a wedge between Rachel and her current roomie, Joey. Meanwhile, a clumsy Chandler cannot seem to master the fine art of greasing the palms of maitre-d's with folding money in order to secure better service.

 

1/04/01• THE ONE WITH ALL THE CHEESECAKES

 

 

WILL PHOEBE DUMP JOEY FOR DATE WITH EX-BEAU -- Phoebe and Joey feud over what constitutes a proper excuse to flake out on their weekly dinner plans -- and it's driving her batty, especially since her old flame David (guest star Hank Azaria, "The Simpsons") has returned from Russia for a romantic one-night date. Elsewhere, a gluttonous Rachel and Chandler disgrace themselves when they repeatedly swipe deliveries of an exquisitely tasty cheesecake from their neighbor's doorstep while Ross reluctantly takes a seething Monica along to their cousin's wedding just so she can berate the bride for not inviting her as well.

 

1/11/01• THE ONE WHERE THEY'RE UP ALL NIGHT

 

 

LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT MEANS NO SWEET DREAMS -- It could be a long sleepless night for everyone as Rachel finagles to spend her first night with Tag -- until it dawns on her that they did not overnight an important package before they left work -- while a clueless Ross and Joey risk their lives when they are stuck on their building's chilly roof. Elsewhere, Phoebe can't rid herself of a relentlessly beeping smoke alarm, and Chandler and Monica annoy each other just enough to remain wide awake.

 

2/1/01• THE ONE WHERE ROSITA DIES

 

 

GUEST STAR JASON ALEXANDER ('SEINFELD') RETURNS TO THURSDAY NIGHT IN 'SUPER-SIZE' 'FRIENDS' -- Phoebe's first day as a telemarketer takes a bizarre turn when she encounters a distraught office supply manager (Tony Award-winning guest star Jason Alexander) who's determined to end it all -- but nobody hangs up on Phoebe when she's determined to make the biggest 'sale' of her life. Meanwhile, Ross and Monica are super-bummed when their parents decide to sell their childhood home, especially after their father discovers that Monica's boxed-up memories from her youth are ruined from water damage. In addition, Rachel and Chandler feel guilty when each believes they have broken Joey's favorite ratty old chair, which he has affectionately dubbed "Rosita."

 

2/8/01• THE ONE WHERE THEY ALL TURN THIRTY

 

 

RACHEL AND 'FRIENDS' TURN 30 IN SUPER-SIZE EPISODE -- Rachel agonizes when the gang celebrates her 30th birthday and while they all reflect on their own goofy experiences on their previous 30th birthday parties -- including Monica's comic attempts to conceal her intoxication from her parents -- Rachel ponders how to meet her remaining life goals. Meanwhile, Phoebe remembers when she discovered sobering news from her sister Ursula on her 30th and Ross also recalls his embarrassing fling with a red sports car when he hit the magic number.

 

2/15/01• THE ONE WITH JOEY'S NEW BRAIN

 

 

OSCAR WINNER SUSAN SARANDON GUEST-STARS AS DIVINE DIVA IN 'SUPER-SIZE' EPISODE -- In a 'Super-size' episode, Joey accidentally informs fellow "Days of Our Lives" castmate (Oscar-winning guest star Susan Sarandon, "Dead Man Walking") that she will be fired so that her character's brain can be implanted into his own -- and though the diva unloads on him, the odd couple quickly end up in each other's arms. Elsewhere, Rachel and Phoebe try to sabotage each other's chances to meet a cute guy who inadvertently left his cell phone behind while Chandler and Monica desperately urge Ross not to play his screeching Scottish bagpipes at their wedding..

 

2/22/01• THE ONE WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT LONDON

 

 

MONICA DROPS BOMB ON CHANDLER AFTER REVELATION ABOUT LONDON TRIP IN SUPER-SIZE EPISODE -- Monica and Chandler grudgingly agree to let Joey perform their wedding ceremony -- once he's been "ordained" via the Internet -- and as the couple fondly recall how their relationship changed during their London trip years ago, Monica shares a startling revelation that leaves Chandler's head spinning. Elsewhere, Rachel becomes Ben's (guest star Cole Mitchell Sprouse) favorite babysitter when she teaches him practical jokes to play on his dad Ross. In addition, Phoebe panics when she notices the possible side effects of a headache medication she just swallowed.

 

3/15/01• THE ONE WITH THE CHEAP WEDDING DRESS

 

 

LADY BEWARE! DON'T DARE TO GET IN BETWEEN MONICA AND HER FAVORITE WEDDING DRESS -- Monica regrets telling a fellow bride-to-be (guest star Andrea Bendewald, "Suddenly Susan") about a cheaper bridal store when she later has to fight the woman tooth-and-nail for a unique wedding dress -- and later duels her for the right to hire Chandler's favorite band for the event. Down the hall, Ross also competes with Joey for the affections of the same lissome lass (guest star Gabrielle Union, "City of Angels").

 

3/29/01• THE ONE WITH JOEY΄S AWARD

 

 

JOEY IS LATHERED UP ABOUT HIS 'SOAPIE' AWARD NOMINATION -- Joey is overjoyed to be nominated for a "Soapie" -- the third most prestigious award in daytime dramas -- but when the results don't go his way, he's not above stealing one for himself, while the engaged Monica frets when she realizes she will never experience the thrill of a new relationship again. Elsewhere, Ross is more than curious when he spies Chandler sneaking out of a male strip club while Phoebe finds a cute guy (guest star Troy Norton). Alison Sweeney of NBC's "Days of Our Lives" and McKenzie Westmore of NBC's "Passions" guest-star.

 

4/19/01• THE ONE WITH ROSS AND MONICA'S COUSIN

 

 

DENISE RICHARDS GUEST-STARS AS ROSS AND MONICA'S KISSIN' COUSIN -- When the alluring cousin (Denise Richards, "The World Is Not Enough") of Monica and Ross arrives for a visit after a long absence since their childhood, her irresistible beauty causes serious distractions for all the men who meet her -- including an uneasy Ross. Elsewhere, Rachel and Phoebe are hopelessly overmatched when they try to rush their plans for Monica's shower as is Joey when he foolishly tries to trick a casting director to secure an acting role.

 

4/26/01• THE ONE WITH RACHEL'S BIG KISS

 

 

TWO-TIME OSCAR NOMINEE WINONA RYDER GUEST-STARS -- An embarrassed Rachel bumps into her old sorority sister (Oscar nominee and guest star Winona Ryder, "Little Women,") and wonders whether she should confront her old chum about a boozy incident from their college days when their friendship unexpectedly took a dramatic and passionate turn. In addition, Chandler and Ross try to out-suit each other by renting tuxedos once used by celebrities for the upcoming Chandler-Monica wedding. Meanwhile, Monica struggles to shuffle her wedding reception seating to accommodate two more guests when dim-witted Joey casually invites his parents to drop by.

 

5/3/01• THE ONE WITH THE VOWS

 

 

I DO - BUT CAN I TELL YOU WHY? -- With only four weeks to go before their wedding, Monica is upset to find that Chandler has not yet written his vows -- but then admits she hasn't written hers, either. They both set out to put their feelings on paper, but find that even after seeking help from Rachel, Phoebe, Joey and Ross, the task still proves a lot more difficult than they had imagined. To make matters worse, looking back over Chandler and Monica's relationship leads to all six of the friends recalling the high -- and low -- lights of their friendships with each other, and worrying that things might be about to change for all of them.

 

5/10/01• THE ONE WITH CHANDLER'S DAD

 

 

MONICA'S TO-DO LIST STARTS WITH FATHER-SON RECONCILIATION; KATHLEEN TURNER GUEST-STARS -- While reviewing her wedding-guest list, Monica learns that an embarrassed Chandler hasn't invited his estranged dad (guest star Kathleen Turner) -- so she arranges a face-to-face meeting between the two in hopes that father and son can patch up their differences before the ceremony. Elsewhere, wretched driver Rachel swipes the keys to Monica's Porsche and speeds off with a reluctant Ross aboard while the police are in hot pursuit. Joey wants to prove to Phoebe that he is so secure in his masculinity that he can wriggle into women's panties and learn to love it..

 

5/17/01• THE ONE WITH MONICA AND CHANDLER'S WEDDING -             Season Finale

 

CAN CHANDLER BE FOUND IN TIME FOR WEDDING TO MONICA IN ONE-HOUR SEASON FINALE? GARY OLDMAN GUEST-STARS -- In the one-hour season finale, Monica and Chandler gather their offbeat families on the eve of their wedding, but there's just one problem -- Chandler is missing when he gets cold feet and bolts, and while Ross searches for him, Rachel and Phoebe desperately vamp to distract the unsuspecting bride. Elsewhere, Joey can't pry himself away from shooting a World War I film with a spit-and-polish actor (guest star Gary Oldman, "Air Force One") in time to perform the ceremony.
