Notes: Wes Brown joined United as a trainee in the summer of 1996 and has made significant progress through the ranks. Cool, composed, and incredibly quick, Brown has all the attributes that make up the modern day defender. He made his senior debut as a substitute against Leeds United at Old Trafford in May 1998 and has never looked back. An established international at Under-18 and Under-21 level, Brown made the step up to the senior squad during the 1998/99 season, and received his first cap under Kevin Keegan, playing against Hungary in Budapest. Brown's first team opportunities became limited towards the end of the season, but no-one could question his contribution to the treble-winning campaign. Brown had hoped to become a permanent fixture in the first-team at the start of the 1999/2000 season but an horrific knee injury put pay to his entire campaign. The highly-rated defender has since returned to play for the first team
