Notes: Gary's rise to prominence has been rapid to say the least. He only established himself as a regular in the United side half way through the 94-95 season. Gary is a product of the Reds' successful youth policy. The full-back enhanced his international credentials during England's Le Tournoi success in France, earning a place in the England squad for France '98, playing in a back three. Displayed his usual class and composure throughout United's treble-winning 98-99 season, and once again established himself on the international arena. Signed a seven-year contract to remain at United until June 2005.
