Notes: The Dutch international striker was a British Club Record £19 million signing by United from PSV Eindhoven on April 23, 2001, almost exactly a year since his original move to Old Trafford was scuppered. The striker refused to undergo extensive medical tests at the time and then was ruled out for several months just days later after collapsing with a bad knee injury. Van Nistelrooy signed a five year deal with The Reds, commencing on July 1, 2001, his 25th birthday. Prior to his knee injury, the striker had been the leading scorer in the Dutch League for two successive seasons. He has won ten caps for Holland, making his debut against Germany in November 1998.
