Notes: After being linked strongly with moves to both Everton and Leicester, Carroll completed a £2.5million move from Wigan to Old Trafford on July 26, 2001 to become Fabien Barthez's deputy. Signed by Wigan from Hull City in the summer of 1997 for a club record £350,000, the Ulsterman soon developed a reputation for being one of the best goalkeepers outside the Premiership. Established himself as Northern Ireland's No.1 during the 1999-2000 season, attracting the interests of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Leicester with his consistent form, and cemented his reputation with plenty more superb performances last season.
