A highly-accomplished left-sided defender, who can also operate in the middle, Silvestre began his career with French side Rennes with whom he made 48 appearances in three seasons before joining Inter. Silvestre, whose contract was due to expire in 2003, made 18 Serie-A, six Champions League and seven Italian Cup appearances throughout 98-99.
