Biographies of Past Slayers
All Buffy historians should have some knowledge of Slayers of the past, so courtesy of Jason @jasmb4@msn.com we have a good collection of information! (I tried to put them in chronological order.)
Slayers:
Thessily: Watcher: Thoas
Slayground/ Territory: Greece
Called: Activated at the age of 12 in 509. B.C Time of service :18 years
Death: Was shot by Vampire with a poison tipped arrow, at the age of 29.
Weapon of Choice: Labrys
Major Enemies: The Horde. Jur'Lurk
Appearance: Tales of the Slayer Volume 1
Her Story: Thessily, who was sometimes called Thessily
of Thessilonikki was born in 519 B.C in Greece, to a single slave
mother. The only details known about her childhood , are that her
mother died, and she was a slave. She was raised in the house of her
"master" Meltinias, who was a fabric merchant, he treated and raised
her well (which make the whole born into servitude thing okay, note the
sarcasm). Then at the age of 12, the local Hierophant Thoas bought
Thessily from Meltinias. Thoas then told her about her calling and
sacred duty as the current Vampire Slayer, and that he was her Watcher.
He then begun her training.
She became a formidable warrior. At the age of 17 she was killing 7
vampires a night, and also killed a dangerous demon called Jur'Lurk.
The Slayer and her Watcher formed a routine. She go out on patrol, and
he would wait for her to return. He then would rush to the table and
sit down, pretending not to worry. She would come in, and he would he
treat her injuries, and if their were none she would tell him of the
night's patrol. Thessily loved this routine, and the fact that her
Watcher cared for her.
At 19 she went up against a mob of vampires called the Horde, at
Delphi. She wiped the floor with them but collapsed on the road (she
got bit by one of the vampires). She was found by a villager who took
her to the Oracle. The Oracle knew that Thessily was the Slayer.
Thessily laid unconscious for four days.
She awakened, and was informed by her watcher that the Oracle had
foretold her death, she was suppose to die at the hands of the Horde,
and by surviving she defied destiny. At 23 she was depressed, she had
begun to question her destiny. Worried Thoas asked her what was wrong.
She told him she had begun to feel that their was no point to slaying,
that evil would just keep coming. He told her that past Slayers only
fought for the fraction of the time she had. But the young woman wanted
to be remembered for more than just numbers. She wanted to be known for
something great. Then at age 29, she had finally gotten her chance. Her
watcher told her to protect Phidippides, a messenger chosen to enlist
the aid of the Spartans in the fight against the Persians who were
going to invade Athens in 3 days. The Spartans were Werewolves, who
were skilled in the art of war. The Persians had vampires in their
ranks.
Thessily didn't trust either side, but knew that Athens needed the
Spartans. Thoas knew the vampires would do anything to stop
Phidippides. Along the 140 miles track, she battled legions of
vampires, to protect the messenger and some how manage to stay
unnoticed by him. Some where along the way she was struck by a
poisonous arrow, and her strength was waning.
In Sparta, the Slayer melted into the shadows and watched as
Phidippdes pleaded with the king. Thessily knew they wouldn't help
until the full moon. She was right. The messenger thanked the King and
left, with the Slayer right behind him. She began to hallucinate from
due to the poison and fatigue. She was getting visions of things in
the past and in the future. She saw galleys in her mind, moving along
the coast of Athens, with vampires in them. She finally arrived in
Athens and found Thoas where men had been lining up, preparing to go to
Marathon to battle the Persians. The Watcher saw that his charge was
poisoned and was desperately trying to save her, when she told him
about the galleys and convinced Thoas that she was right. The battle
between the Athenians and the human Persians waged on in front of the
Slayer's eyes. The Athenians separated into 3 teams, two flanking and
one facing the Persians head-on. The Persians were caught off-guard,
and retreated to their ships. Thessily ran towards the coast with a
torch in one hand and oil in the other. She burned and destroyed the
ships with the Vampires inside. She then swam to shore. The Athenians
at Marathon had managed to dispense the Persians. Thessily ran back to
Athens and found Thoas. She told him they won they won. Phidippides
had arrived and approached Thessily who was lying in her watchers
arms. He revealed that he saw, and asked her name. She told him. He
told her: "It was a good run" She replied: "Yes it was". She died, and
is one of if not the longest living Slayer. She slayed for 18 years.
Garnhuld:
Slay ground/ territory :Unknown
Watcher: Unknown
Called: A.D 562
Time of service:
Unknown
Death: Unknown
Weapon of choice: Unknown
Major Enemies: Unknown
Appearance: She's mention in The Remaining
Sunlight trade paper back
Her Story: I really don't know much about this
Slayer (like I said she was only mentioned by name in the story) She
was given a puzzle by her watcher. The puzzle were two mischievous imp
like creatures called Macguffins. These creatures would annoy the
Slayer, and the only way to neutralize them was to catch them and bang
them against each other , which would cause them to merge. Centuries
later the Watcher Rupert Giles sent them to the Slayer Buffy Summers,
who solved the puzzle 46 hours faster than her sister Slayer Garnhuld.
Adja:
Watcher: Unknown
Slayground/Territory : Europe
Called: 1000 A.D
Time of service: Unknown
Death: Killed by a Karfarnaum demon, in the year 2000
Weapon of choice: Sword
Major Enemies: The Karfarnaum
Appearance: The Autumnal trade paper back
Her Story: Perhaps the reason why some people expect Buffy to be
taller, is because of Slayers like Adja. The sixth foot tall Slayer was
sent by her watcher to stop the Karnfarnaum from killing a Slayer from
the future. The Karfarnaum only knew that this Slayer lived in
Sunnydale, but didn't know which time period she was from. So it hop
from decade to decade through time portals searching for her, with Adja
not far behind. The demon finally reached the time period in which this
Slayer lived: 2000. It cornered the Slayer Buffy Summers in an alley,
and her on the ropes until Adja stepped in, forcing the demon to flee.
Buffy and the non English speaking Adja (like with most Slayers Buffy
meets) didn't like each other. The current Slayer took Adja to her
watcher Rupert Giles, who deduced that Adja was from the gothic period
of France in the 11th centaury. The two Slayers once again fought
(Buffy hit Adja with a couch), but eventually (like most Slayers Buffy
meets) forged a bond and became friends. They tracked the demon down
while Giles did research. He discovered that the only way to kill the
demon, was for it to kill a Slayer. The Scoobies found Buffy and Adja,
and held Adja back. Buffy was forced to watch her new friend and Sister
Slayer sacrifice herself by allow the demon to rip her heart out. When
Adja died, the demon died. It was later revealed that Adja was sent to
protect Buffy, because Buffy was destined to stop a great evil (maybe
the First).
Cassia Marsilka:
Slayground/ Territory: Greece
Watcher: unknown, but really incompetent
Called: I think she was 16 when she was
called, about 500 years ago
Time of service:
Unknown
Death: She was sired by the roman gladiator Cyrus in 1527.
Weapon of Choice: Unknown
Major Enemies: Cyrus
Appearance: Tempted Champions
Her Story: Cassia's family was slaughtered by
vampires, she was then approached by her Watcher, who informed her of
her destiny. From that moment on Cassia waged a war against the undead.
Later on she went up against the Vampire Cyrus. Cassia was very
formidable and he was no match for her. She had him and was about to
stake, when she tripped on a rock (they were on a cliff), Cyrus took
advantage of this, but Cassia wasn't ready to die. When Cyrus bit her,
she willingly drunk from him, before dying. She rose as Vampire, and
staked her sire. The council had know idea of this, and assumed she
died permantley when the new Slayer was called. Centuries passed, and
Cassia adapted with the times, changing her name and look to match the
them. She trained hard, and learn the deadliest of martial arts,
becoming even more formidable then she was in life. Hating both humans
and the creatures of darkness, she continued to slay, but fed on humans
as well. In the 1900's she went up against Spike, who thought her a
normal vampire, she defeated easily in battle, and would have killed
him if he hadn't have ran. In !961, she went up against a terrified
Angel (who like all Slayers he meets, beat the crap out of him), he too
fled. Eventually she came to Sunnydale in 2001, this time going by
"Celina", and donned the "hip-hop" look, which fellow Slayer Buffy
would have liked to try, but wasn't quite tall enough. The Slayers
fought, with "Celina" being triumphant. Buffy found out this powerful
vampire was in life a fellow Slayer. When they fought again Buffy won,
but before killing "Celina" Buffy learned the truth. Her sister had
willingly gone to the "dark side", and out of desperation "Celina"
offered her younger sister eternal life, but Buffy resisted temptation
she staked "Celina" and finally Cassia Marsilka was allowed to rest in
peace.

her grandfather was telling the truth, that his new charge was a great
and powerful warrior called the Slayer. At about 12, he begun her
training, and she became a formidable warrior. She took part in all the
tribal decisions, and hunting parties, and was well respected. As a
result of this she drew the attention of an elderly man who was the
tribal shaman, Ceremonial Fox. He fell in love with her, but she
spurned his advances because she was in love with a boy her own age:
Seal of the Ocean, and she was engaged to marry him. Angered by this he
trapped her on Roanoke Island, and transformed her into a real life
white doe. Her tribe mourn her disappearance, and took the appearance
of this white doe as a sign. Kill this innocent creature and sacrifice
her to their gods, and their White Doe will return. Seal of the Ocean
was given an enchanted arrow, that would never miss it's mark. He fired
it at the white doe, while this was going on a guilt ridden Ceremonial
Fox decided to change the Slayer back. But it was to late. The split
second White Doe was transformed back to her normal self (as normal as
a Slayer could be anyway) she was struck in the heart by the enchanted
arrow. She died at the hands of the man she loved. Meanwhile her
grandfather learned of his Slayer's death because a Slayer-in-Waiting
had been called. He had never met his grand daughter and is perhaps the

, Fulcanellii posed as Maria on the Ghost Roads in order to fool the
current Slayer Buffy Summers. While assuming Maria's form, Fulcanellii

called, Ildiko moved in with her Watcher, and elderly man named Kurt
Rendor. She enjoyed being a Slayer, and was quite formidable. After
hearing servants of the Countess Elizabeth Bathory were disappearing.
The only way to infiltrate the castle was to be chosen by the ladies of
the Countess to be the Servant. So Kurt bought her a new dress, and
taught her manners, so she would stand a better chance of being chosen
(and as a Slayer, she was expert at the whole chosen thing). Jo' Ilona
and Kateline (the Countess' Ladies) picked Ildiko because of her
muscles. Upon entering the castle, the Slayer discovered the existence
of the Countess' torture chambers and devices. The majority of the
girls Ildiko arrived with were killed within a week, but Ildiko was
kept alive for reasons unknown. She was then appointed the task of
caring for the girls who were chained in the dungeons. She was later
drugged and strapped into the Iron Maiden, which drained her of her
blood. The Countess bathed in the blood of the young Slayer, as a
ritual she used to remain youthful. It was never revealed if the

But eventually she accepted her role as the Slayer. She studied and
train hard. Soon her town was invaded by Vampires, led by St. Just. She
defeated him easily and slayed him. The whole town bared witness to the
fight including young girls who admired her, and where inspired to
stick up for themselves against male bullies. The men did not like
this, so as Righteous slept, men broke into her house and grabbed her
from bed. They dubbed her a witch and burned her at the stake. Her
Watcher avenged her death by opening the town gates, allowing legions
of vampires to feast on the whole town

darkness, roaring, and startling smells. After she woke up she felt
strong. The young woman didn't realize she had been called as the next
Slayer. Later while working in the farm, her brother Lonnie dropped a
pitchfork over her head, at the same time a sow was quickly rushing
towards Mollie. Using Slayer reflexes, Mollie easily caught the fork,
and stopped the pig with out harming her. She didn't tell anyone about
these strange events. Then one day in the woods, Mollie and Harley were
attacked by a savage demon. The cunning and resource young woman, broke
off an entire tree branch with her bare hands and fought the demon off
with it. Soon her name was on everyone's lips. Harley had been rescued
by a girl. Then on the day of her wedding, the Watcher finally found

bared witness to the young Slayer's death. All he said was that Helen

Britta Kessler:
Slayground: Munich, Germany
Watcher: Frederich Lichterman
Called: At the age of 16 (I think) on November 8th
1923
Time of service: 2 days.
Death: Sired by Herr Sahr
Weapon of choice: Unknown
Major enemies: Herr
Sahr. Her Watcher
Appearance:
Tales of the Slayer Volume 1
Her
Story: Britta was born in 1906 to Herr and Frau Kessler. She had 3
younger brothers, and one younger sister. Her father became close to a
man named Frederich in the war, who later became a watcher. Frederich
was hired as Britta's tutor, though they both knew he was training her
to be the Slayer. For two years, Britta was trained in every Chinese
fighting style, and every weapon from around the world. Then one
morning during breakfast Frederich received a telegram, informing him
that Britta had been chosen. Britta was overwhelmed, ecstatic, and
frightened at the same time, she embraced the mantle of Slayer with
pride and spirit. Later that day after some training (in which Britta
wiped the floor with her watcher) she asked him about the girl whose
death activated her as the next Slayer. She asked how the girl died.
The watcher told her "quite horribly I imagine." Britta then made her
watcher promise her that she would not die alone. The next day while
shopping with a close friend (thus proving that Buffy wasn't the only
Slayer with friends, though Britta's friend had know idea that she was
the Slayer) Britta was invited to a screening of a movie and the
filming of the last scene. The movie was to be viewed at the mansion of
man named Herr Sahr . The Movie crew turned out to be Vampires who
locked everyone in, and filmed their last scene of a very real movie.
Britta went into full Slayer mode, she freed the innocent people at the
screening and was attacked by the vampires, who quickly realized what
she was. Britta was truly a formidable warrior, but that didn't matter.
She was out numbered. Her watcher (like a coward) ran, breaking his
promise. He left his charge to die alone. The Slayer screamed:
"Frederich, you promised I wouldn't die alone!" She was turned into a
vampire. The Watcher ventured to the Kessler family mausoleum the
following day to make sure that she didn't rise. Once inside he
realized that he had been locked in by Herr Sahr and cameras had been
set up. For their own entertainment, the Vampires watched as the Slayer
Vampire faced off against her watcher.

Asha Sayre:

Watcher: Laurent
Called: At 15 (I think), in 1953
Time of service: 3 years
Death: Trapped in exploding church in 1956.
Weapon of Choice: Unknown, Crossbow (I think)
Major Enemies: Racist Vampires and Racist Humans of her community
Appearance: Tales of the Slayer Volume 1
Her Story: If Asha were some how to meet Buffy Summers, she would
be in shock. For one thing, Asha thought that Slayers, weren't white.
And if she ever saw Buffy with Spike or Angel, she would wonder how her
sister Slayer could stand the stench of the undead. Asha was wondering
through the woods, at the age of 3 when she saw her father hanging by a
tree. It was then that her Watcher Laurent (a Cajun woman) took her in.
Though Laurent began Asha's training, she told the young girl that it
was for self defense purposes only. She didn't really tell her of her
destiny and Slayer-in-Waiting status till much later. Like the rest of
the Slayers I have listed (as well as all Slayers in general), Asha was
good at what she did. Then in 1956 a group of racist white vampires
invaded a church (the towns sheriff was their leader) full of black
people and planted and explosive device in the church. After battling
the vampires, Asha and her watcher got all the human inhabitants to
safety. And lock them selves inside the church. Laurent found the
detonator and threw it out the window. The church exploded. The Slayer
and her watcher gave their lives to protect the lives of the innocent
towns people.
AugustSlayground: Sunnydale California
Watcher: Unknown (though she was trained by Faith)
Called: At age 16, in 2004 (an alternate future)
Time of Service: Six months
Death: She was accidentally killed by Buffy Summers.
Weapon of Choice: Unknown
Appearances: The Lost Slayer serial novel, books 1 and 2.
Her Story: In alternate future where Vampires rule supreme, August was
the Slayer called forth in response to the death of Faith. She had the
traditional Slayer-in-Waiting training before being called. August felt
pressured by her duties, perhaps her best friend was Anna Kieu, a
fellow potential Slayer. While out on patrol, she was captured by
Vampires who threw her in a cell with the lost Slayer Buffy Summers,
who had disappeared four years prior. The leader of the Vampires
decided to capture Slayers, rather than kill them, because a Slayer is
killed another rises to take her place. That's why they captured
Buffy( they didn't know that the line flowed through Faith). August
thought the world needed a Slayer. So fought Buffy to the death, so
that another Slayer would be called in response to either her death or
Buffy's. Buffy tried to reason with her, but August wouldn't listen.
August was an excellent fighter, but didn't have near as much
experience as Buffy did. Buffy accidentally snapped her neck with a
devastating kick. Feeling grief over killing a fellow Slayer, Buffy
found strength enough to escape.

She's a formidable warrior, with a traditional Slayer-in-Waiting
training. Buffy managed to go back to the present day (2000, season 4)
and stop the chain of events that led to this apocalyptic future. So in
this reality August and Anna are still potential Slayers. My guess is
that council wasn't able to find them in this reality, thus making them
safe from the First Evil, and it's Bringers.
