2/7)
Night. Buffy has her arm around Dawn and they are walking home together.
They get up to the doorstep and Buffy tells her to go on in and get mom.
Dawn goes inside, and Buffy walks down the steps over to the bushes. With
her hands on her hips.
Buffy: Why are you sneaking around behind us?
Apparently she's talking to Spike.
Spike: Oh, well come on. I helped you fight...
Buffy: (interrupts) Why were you hiding? Why didn't you just walk with us?
I needed you to come with us anyway.
Spike, realizing that she was upset at his lurking not his prescence,
let's it sink in a beat
Spike: You needed me?
Buffy: (lets out a deep breath) Glory's still after them. We have no idea
how close she might be, and she knows they live here. I need them to be
some where she can't find them.
She pauses and looks at the light upstairs turn on.
Buffy: I told Dawn to get mom and they'll stay at your place tonight.
Spike doesn't reply and they end up staring at each other for a while,
while they wait.
Spike: Are you okay?
He points and just barely touches her chest where Glory hit Buffy.
Buffy: (almost in surprise) Oh. Yeah. It's...(she puts her hand over it
and hesitates) fine. (a beat) What about you? She threw you around pretty
hard.
Spike: I'm alright.
Buffy: Really?
Spike: (almost confused by her conscern) Yeah. (short pause) You know,
Buffy. We've uh...kno-
Buffy: (interrupts) Okay, Spike, I really don't know what your deal is,
why you're suddenly deciding to switch teams, but I still don't trust you.
I'm having my family stay with you because this is my only choice. If you
hurt them in any possible way, I will do more than stake you.
Spike stares at her with a mixture of disbelief and disgust and then turns
around to leave. Buffy watches him for a second then,
Buffy: Spike.
Spike continues to walk away
Buffy: Spike!
Spike sorta turns around but is still walking backwards.
Spike: (angry) What!
Buffy can't formulate a reply.
Spike: Why the hell do I even bother!
Buffy: (soft and confused) What?
Spike starts walking up to her now.
Spike: I helped you fight Glory. I watched over your family
all week. I showed you that Riley was out with those vampires, but
you don't realize a bloody thing do you!
2/9) Spike’s face was right in front of Buffy’s now, an
unidentifiable mixture of utter shock and confusion on her expression. And
she found herself yet again speechless. Spike’s expression softens from
fury to a quiet pleading
Spike: (Barely over a whisper) Don’t play dumb. You can’t deny
it, there’s something between us.Yeah, I know I stole the line.
C’mon, it was a great line!!
His eyes drop down to her lips, and Buffy, (with that look she had at
the end of the previews) just watches him come closer and kiss her. She
kisses him back, and it’s all very sweet. Not quite as passionate as
Spike’s dream sequence, but it’s soft and sweet.
O Gees, I hate to have to do this but…
Buffy suddenly pulls away and the stare at each other. Once again Buffy
has an undecipherable expression, something like fear and surprise in
herself as well as Spike, and she looks almost like she’s on the brink
of tears. Spike’s expression is stern and after a while he turns his
head away frustrated with Buffy.
Enter or rather exit from the house, Joyce and Dawn. Dawn comes out and
immediately eyes Spike and Buffy suspiciously. Joyce doesn’t seem to
notice anything.
Joyce: So…(to Spike)Are we spending the night over at your home?
Spike looks at Buffy, and she still hasn’t taken her eyes off of him.
After a second,
Buffy: Yeah…Yeah, I think you’ll be safer there.
Spike: (quietly) Let’s go.
2/11)Buffy gives her mom a hug and waves them off. With a mixed expression
yet again, she goes back to her house.
Spike holds the door open for his two guests and they walk in. Joyce
quietly whispers a small thank you. And goes in. After a while
Joyce: Well. I guess we should get ready to go to sleep. (and goes into
another part of the lair)
Spike seemingly just notices Dawn staring at him. He stares back at her
for a few seconds but doesn’t care enough to say anything. He paces over
to his chair and takes a seat. Dawn walks over.
Dawn: (kinda annoyingly) So what’s with you and Buffy?
Ah! This was a question worth his interest. However not very much.
Spike: What.
Dawn: I’m not dumb. I saw the way she was looking at you when we came
out. What were you talking about?
Spike: (annoyed but not really angry) Sod off.
Dawn: (comes closer) You like her, don’t you.
Spike raises an eyebrow.
Dawn: You’re always sneaking around our house and helping her out
n’stuff. (pause) So. What? Did you tell her? ( a beat) She
doesn’t like you, you know. She thinks you’re creepy.
Spike looks at her for a moment.
Spike: Go to sleep.
And he gets up and goes outside.
