Bonita was born on Hope Island. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle where she met her future husband. They got married her sophomore year. Their marriage did not last long, which left Bonita devastated. She moved back to Hope and bought the General Store with her mother. Strangers are befuddled by the notes that Ruby and Bonita write to each other in lieu of talking. But what others cannot comprehend has become an everyday routine for them.
Beverley Elliott has already tasted some major success in her day job -- acting. She played the role of Faith in Clint Eastwood's Academy Award winning film, "The Unforgiven." Eastwood did not forget to thank Beverley when he accepted his Oscar for Best Director. It made her day! Beverley also worked on the new Gwynneth Paltrow film, "Duets." Elliott has also appeared in Bob Sagett's "Jitters" with Ann Meara and Joely Fisher, "The Crush" with Alicia Silverstone, Anne Wheeler's "Bye Bye Blues" and had a lead in "Harmony Cats" playing opposite Lisa Brokop and Jim Byrnes.
Her television credits include three years as a regular on the CTV series "Bordertown," principal roles in "The X Files," "Highlander," "Millennium," "The New Addams Family," "Dead Man's Gun," and "The Outer Limits." She has worked with names such as John Candy, Christopher Reeve, Henry Winkler and Julie Harris. She has also enjoyed appearances in several commercials in heavy rotation which have earned her a lot of local notoriety.
However, many feel that her real strength lies in singing. She was a finalist in the 1988 Bud Talent Contest, singing at the National Country Music convention in Toronto. Beverley followed this up with two singles and a video shot on the set of CTV's "Bordertown." Her singles were recorded on an independent Canadian record label, and both received extensive airplay, during which time she played at festivals, concerts and opened for major acts such as the Oak Ridge Boys, Jamie Warren, Thomas Wade and the Waywards, Wyckham Porteous and Ranch Romance. She has also sung with Long John Baldry, Kathy MacDonald, Jim Byrnes and Lisa Brokop.
