Boris Obolenski hails from Smolensk, Russia. A man of many talents, Boris claims to have been everything from a fireman to a cosmonaut candidate to a sword swallower. Although he comes to Hope to meet up with his true love, Boris instead finds a job (as cook at the Widow's Walk) and a new home.
Brian Jensen is thrilled to be a part of HOPE ISLAND, playing Boris, the expatriate Russian cook at the Widow's Walk, who came to Hope Island looking for love but found instead a new life and a new home. Brian began his life and his career in Calgary, Canada, the home of the 1988 winter Olympic Games (during the Opening Ceremonies of which, his son was born -- how's that for cool!). He was involved in many productions there, including a four year stint with a Shakespeare Company where he played Falstaff, Shylock, Feste, and more, as well as directing "Hamlet" and "Titus Andonicus." All in all, he was in 30 or more different shows in different theaters there and in many film and TV productions there, too.
He moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1996 where he has appeared in many shows, including "Millennium," "Viper," "The Outer Limits," "The Sentinel," "Dead Man's Gun," as well as in the movies "Pittsburgh," "The Proposal," and "The 13th Warrior" (where he was basically a blur in the background in the first Viking scene, but still, he got to meet Antonio Banderas and Omar Sharif!). He also had a lead playing "Mayhem" in the movie "Futuresport" starring Dean Cain and Wesley Snipes.
Brian also plays guitar, sings and writes songs and hopes to put some of them down on CD real soon. Until then, he has a lot of fun playing around town and with other musicians (including many of the "Hope Island" cast during the breaks between scenes!). Brian lives quietly now in Vancouver, but likes to get back home to friends and family back in Calgary whenever he has the opportunity.
