David Lewis portrays Hope Island's sole law enforcement officer, Kevin Mitchum. Kevin's arrival on Hope Island was more like an escape. As a policeman in a small town outside of Seattle, he never made it above beat cop. When his best friend and fellow officer stole his girlfriend and made sergeant, Kevin was looking for a place to start over -- that place was Hope Island. Being a cop is in Kevin's blood and, in this capacity, he wears many hats -- detective, truant officer, chief and dogcatcher. Unfortunately, in a place like Hope Island, there's just not that much for him to do, which makes it difficult for Kevin to live up to his father, Jake Mitchum, who had a legendary career on the Seattle police force. Kevin is a good cop whose only problem is that he tries a little too hard and often takes even the smallest cases too seriously. Molly Brewster, his longtime girlfriend, is waiting patiently, for now, to become Mrs. Kevin Mitchum.
Born and raised in Vancouver, David describes his career as that of "your basic journeyman actor" playing roles in many movies of the week, his personal favorite being 1994's "I Woke Up Pregnant." David has numerous television appearances to his credit, including "The X-Files," "The Sentinel," "Millennium," "The Net," and "The Outer Limits." David also plays the lead in the short film "Shoes Off" which has been named Best Short Film at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival.
