Chala Montoya likes to build model airplanes in her spare time and is anxious to enter the plane in the school's contest, but her brother Raoul, an artist, tells her she shouldn't compete against boys.

After a conversation with Ms. Thomas, Raoul changes his mind, so Chala continues work on her planes, which spark an interest in Mark Dawson, a braggart who has trouble getting along with other people and has plans to win the contest himself.

When he hears of Chala's skill, he attempts to steal her plane but is chased by Raoul. Mark then lures her brother into the back of an 18-wheeler and locks him in.

Soon, the rig takes off with Raoul trapped inside and the when the driver pulls over to help a stranded motorist, the truck rolls downhill with Raoul inside. It's up to Isis to save the day and free Raoul.

Meanwhile, Mark steals the plane, but is eventually seen flying it at an old refinery. When he sees Raoul approaching, Mark starts climbing the oil rig, which collapses underneath his feet. Luckily, Isis arrives in the nick of time, Mark sees the error of his ways and acknowledges that Chala's work is better than his, and Raoul finally finds inspiration in his sister for the mural he's been working on.
