Destiny pt 2
Jean's condition had not changed, infact she appeared to be getting worse as her parents
walked up the hallway to greet the Prof. All of the students were there now, by Scott's
side dealing with what’s going on.
Scott looked up from his hands which cradled his head, to see Jean’s parents holding
each other, and her sister crying , he wanted to go over and tell the how sorry he was for
all of this, but the guilt of it all keep him planted in his seat. How could you tell someone
they were responsible for putting their daughter in this situation, how do u explain to
them that it was all because of a training exercise that maybe she shouldn't have been a
part of, but because of the person she is she was there. These thoughts only made Scott
feel worse and worse, he couldn't take it being there, but he couldn't take not being there
as well. No matter what he did he was trapped.
He walled up to the window that was the only way to see her, put his hands upon the
glass and stared, while other's watched him. Wanting to go and comfort him. But couldn't
bring themselves to do so.
"Jean” he thought to himself. “I hope you can hear me. This may sound crazy but I like to
think
that in some way on some level you can, maybe that's why were so close you always
know what I'm gonna say before I can, You know what I'm thinking without even the
help of your powers, Jeannie I am so sorry, This is all my fault, despite what everyone is
saying. If I hadn't been so selfish with everything, trying to be better then the rest,
Needing to be the best. Fear of letting one person down that I cared about, I let down
another that I cared even more deeply about, I love you Jean. I can't bare to see you like
this and knowing I’m responsible...."
Scott couldn't bare to think of what may happen
next to her, as he gazed upon her seemingly Lifeless body laying there, her father walked
up and stood next to him, holding back the tears in his eyes, he Looked at Scott. Scott
had met Jean's family only once before, when they brought Jean to the institute looking
for someone to help her, but instead it ended up hurting her.
"Hello” he said too him peering into his ruby red quartz glasses trying to look into his
eyes. “Were you and my daughter close?” “Yeah. We were.” was all he could put past his
lips.
"Have we met before?” “Yeah once, Scott Summers" he said as he reached out his hand, it
was the least he could, considering the way he was feeling. “Yes I remember you now,
You were at the institute when I first brought my daughter, The day I left her there was
the worst day of my life, Knowing that the next time I see my daughter she would never
be the same, she would be all grown, and independent, That’s a hard thought for any
father to deal with, and now this, It makes me think maybe my little girl wasn't mean to
be like this, “special” ,maybe it was a mistake to bring Jean there, maybe If I wasn't so
scared of what she may have been or become, she wouldn't be in this mess, she’d be
home with me safe and sound”
Hearing that made Scott's mind kick into over time, seeing
her family there, hear them, he couldn't take it. He went for a walk to the roof top, He
wanted to be alone, He needed to be alone.
~~~~~~~~~
Everything in that wing of the hospital, no one daring to talk let alone breath waiting for
something to happen, waiting for things to get worse, waiting for things to get better.
The cold silence was broken by a sharp, high pitched beep, which cause the students to
rise up out of their seats and the doctors to coming running. During all the commotion
nothing else mattered at this point, Kurt teleported himself to get Scott in front of
everyone, but no seeming to noticed, when Scott and Kurt arrived the saw a look on the
Prof. face they never saw before, and never wanted to see again, Now of then knowing
what was going on but they all new what was happening, Jean dying before she meet her
destiny was not an option, The Prof. knew that, Scott Knew that. Jean knew that. The
beeping getting louder and louder, more and more Doctors running in and out of the
room, Jean’s father holding her mother, her sister crying in the background.
"She has gotten worse" the Prof. proclaimed. “I need to..."and with that the Prof. Went
into another state of mind.
~~~~~~~~~
The Prof. standing, found himself deep within the depths of Jean's mind.
Turning to see a figure standing there one he had never seen before, but recognized.
Before he could get a word out the figure lifter its hand, and appeared Jean. As it ran its
hand over top her body the figure softly said "One dying before meeting one's true destiny
is not uncommon fact of life but cruel, none the lesser life is more valuable then anyone
will ever know, she is need. Prof. Charles Xavier, I place this child's lie within your
hands, you will teach her and she will teach you, the body may die, but the mind will
always live on. I place my fire upon her and with in the growth of the flame she will grow
as well. Life lives on.
And with that the Prof.. was back in his body, things still as hectic as they were when he
left, not hearing a constant beep that pulsated through the air as the doctors left the room
with their heads hung, at this point everyone near tears, Scott walked into the room, sat
down next to her took her hand within his looked at her and began to cry, as the Prof.
came up behind him placed one hand upon Jean's head, and the other on his.
~~~~~~~~
No one knew what was going to happen next, But it happened anyway, as her pulse
began to come back, and breath within her lungs, her eyes opened, to look at the Prof..
then over towards Scott.
"Hey” Scott said adoringly at Jean, dumbfound by what just happened, looking towards
the Prof. for some sort of answer. All he gave him was a smile and left the room to tell
the bystanders staring through the window before he closed the blind as he passed
through the door closing it behind him.
"Hi” Jean said with a hint of tiredness to her voice, “Are you alright,? Jean what
happened?"
"I feel fine, tired, but fine.” “Your parents are here as well as everyone else.” “What
happened?".
"You don't remember?” “No, all I remember is being with you in the danger room, and
then everything else is a blank.” and with that Scott got up and kissed her on her
forehead, “Get some rest” He said as he got ready to leave the room, as he turned back to
make sure what he saw wasn't a dream, Jean said softly, “It’s not your fault” with that he
left the room.
~~~~~~~~~
No one understood what happened that day, or what happened during the Prof. black out,
They always wondered, but never ask questions, That wasn't really important to any of
Them, Jean was alive, she was back.
Jean never did remember what really happened to her during her coma, but she knew
something did happen, and she knew the Prof.. knew about it, she waited to ask him, but
was afraid to know the answer, but she doesn't consider her second chance at life with it,
she just keeps on living her life like she did before, she knows that one day, someday it
will all become clear to her, and every question she ever had about it will be answered,
when that day finally does come she'll be ready for it, she’ll be ready to live up to her
Destiny.
