The Ghost
It was a quiet night in Virginia City, Montana. A security guard
stood
inside the old courthouse, not paying much attention to his
surroundings.
Nothing much ever happened there, any way. Everybody had heard the
ghost
stories surrounding the 150-year-old city.
They say in Montana that
there is
so much spiritual phenomena that the hills resound with it.
"Bah" he thought to himself, "Ghosts. Ha! I've worked here for 12
years. I
ain't ever seen any ghosts."
As if on cue, a deafening crash came from inside the building, he
snapped out
of his melancholy state of mind and ran to investigate. Upon his
arrival on
the spot where the crash came from, he found a glass case shattered on
the
floor, its contents strewn about.
"Who's there!!" he screamed.
"Nobody- but me." Came a ghostly voice from the darkness.
Abruptly, books and pottery flew across the room, barely missing
the
guard's head
" Leave, leave now, or suffer the consequences!!" came the ghostly
voice
again.
" Okay, Okay, I'm leaving now! Please, forgive me!!" the guard
pathetically
begged.
"NOW!!!" A zap of electricity hit the guard, promptly booting him out
the
door.
As he ran away screaming, A young girl of 14, with electric blue eyes
that
sparked with high voltage, and flowing silvery- blue hair, floated down
from
the ceiling.
" God, I love that part!!" she laughed.

Meanwhile at the Xavier Institute, Professor Xavier sat wearily at
Cerebro,
waiting patiently to see the new mutant it had detected.
"Charles, you've been waitin' there for 3 hours now, don't you
think you
should give it a break?" Logan asked him.
"I suppose so, Logan. It's just that she is extremely powerful, and
I
don't want her to fall in with the wrong crowd. You know who I mean."
The
Professor replied.
"What are this girl's powers again?"
"She can send high-voltage sparks from her eyes, become invisible,
speak
to animals and spirits, and fly."
"Wow". Logan replied, " Man, you weren't kiddin' around when you
said she
was powerful."
The image on the screen was finally complete.
"At last!" the Professor sighed. " Logan, we have no time to waste,
tomorrow, you, Jean, Scott and I must fly to Montana to meet her. We
can't
let her get away."
" Gotcha Charles, I'll have the X jet ready to go first thing in
the
morning."

"Alexia Elizabeth, where on Earth where you last night!? We just about
called
the sheriff!!" Alexia's mother shouted at her the next morning.
"Sorry Mama," Alexia said sheepishly, " I was at the courthouse."
Her mother threw her hands up in exasperation.
"Scaring the guards again? Oh, Alexia, what are we going to do with
you?
We are the wealthiest family in Montana. We can't have you getting in
trouble, or have people find out that you're... you're..."
"Different? Just say it Mama."
***
" We should be there in the next ten minutes, Charles." Logan told
the
Professor. "According to Cerebro, her family is filthy rich, and we can
land
on a small piece of their thousands of acres of land not far from
their,
well, mansion is too modest."
"Very good Logan." The professor replied. "Scott, Jean, are you
ready?"
"Yeah, Professor" Scott said
" Wonderful."
"Charles, we're here. I'll set her down over there.

" Why me?" Alexia asked herself, " Why did it have to be me?"
She sat on her bed, staring at the ceiling, sulking. Her treasured
kitten,
Melly, sensing her owner's sorrow, leaped up onto her bed by her and
laid
down, purring.
" Can you tell me, baby?" Alexia said, lifting the tiny kitten
"I'm sorry Lexy, I don't know." Melly replied, and then rubbed her face
against Alexia's.
An abrupt knock at the door made Alexia jump so hard she fell off the
bed.
Melly followed her as she went to answer the door.
" Can I um help you?" Alexia asked uncertainly.
"Yes you may" a blue woman dressed in white replied.
