Around my Pinkie
Disclaimer: It ain’t mine. Another chapter story....ugh ugh ugh. I may be slow with this one.
Kurt Wagner slammed his locker and spun the lock. “Another period, another 40 minutes to sleep...ah, Geometry, how do I hate thee, let me count the ways.”
“I’d rather not. You’re blocking the hallway. Outta my way.”
Kurt obediently flattened against the lockers. It wasn’t that he was an exceptional doormat, he just didn’t see a reason to let people get into contact with him. “This is nothing new.”
He filtered through the crowded hallways, taking a chance when he saw one. He was nearly to room 119, his Geometry class, when he nearly bumped into a cold eyed, blond girl.
She smiled when she saw him. “Hi...my name is Mackenzie. Um... are you Kurt Wagner?”
“Ja, that’s me...how do you know? Are you new here?”
“Just transferred yesterday afternoon. I heard a lot of girls talking about you and one of them had a picture.”
“Oh?” Mackenzie was inflating Kurt’s already-overconfident ego.
“Yeah. Where’s Mr. Baublitz’s science class?”
“Room 120. Just across the hall.” Kurt smiled.
“Oh.” Mackenzie blushed and giggled slightly, but not in an airhead way. “I’m so sorry, I must seem like such a dunce...really, sorry to waste your time.”
“No, no no, it’s my pleasure.”
The bell rang.
“Oh, now I’ve gone and made you late! Ugh, sorry. Maybe talk to you later, okay?”
“Yeah...” And she was gone, disappearing into room 120. “Vas?” Kurt blinked. “Ah, scheißt !” He ran for room 119, and another 40 minutes of snoozing.
School day was over. Scott Summers, Evan Daniels, and Jean Grey waited out front by the bike racks for Kitty, Rogue, and Kurt.
“Bikes. Man, I’m telling you, when are people gonna learn and start using skateboards?” Evan was back to his old argument.
“They’re not allowed on school premises,” Jean told him, “and besides that, twice as dangerous.”
“Not if you wear the right gear!”
“But not everyone WEARS the right gear.”
“Aw man, Scott’s on YOUR side, Jean!”
Kitty and Rogue ran up to join them. “Well, if Scott’s on Jean’s side, like, I guess I am too.” Kitty adjusted her backpack, grinning.
“You’re still pathetic. Ah’d like to know what the sides are debating.”
“Like, you WOULD.”
“Where’s Kurt, man?”
“Yeah...it’s really not like him to be late. Scott, did you see him?”
“He was in gym class-showing off as usual-and he was in the locker room afterwards, but he seemed like he wasn’t really there...like he was thinking about something else.”
Evan scratched his head, skateboard in hand. “In Geometry he was kinda spacy....not that he isn’t usually, but more than usual.”
“Could be, like, a girl.”
“It’s always a girl with him. Ah think we should just go on ahead. He mighta just teleported back to the Institute.”
“That’s true.”
The X-men, minus Kurt, headed down the street.
Mackenzie brushed her blonde hair. Kurt had promised to meet her at her locker after school-he’d be here soon, she thought, putting her brush away and smiling into the locker mirror. Her eyes didn’t catch the smile, and remained cold and green.
Okay, Kurt Wagner. Let’s see if your good looks and charming personality can save you from my hypnosis powers....
Ooooh, Mackenzie’s a MUTANT! She doesn’t know Kurt is, though...uh oh.....
