Xavier is the creator of the X-men. He is the strongest telepath in the world and can locate mutants by Cerebro. He believes that normal humans and mutants should live peacefully with each other. His belief can cause him some trouble.
Besides being a founder, and a mentor, Xavier keeps many things secret from others. No one knew about his brother Cain, until he showed up for a 'family reunion'. Xavier also thinks that his students aren't quite ready for everything to do with the X-men. For a while, his students had no clue about Magneto, or that their principal is actually their enemy, Mystique.
