Prologue:

“And now to put my plan into action.” Beth Wallace muttered to herself deviously one dreary afternoon. The weather matched her mood perfectly. Dark and heavily depressed. She had spent weeks trying to think up a plan to get rid of Sheridan so Luis would belong to her. Concocting up a plan required many sleepless nights and plenty of excuses as of where she had been and what she was doing these many days. She took weeks off from working at the Book Café. Poor Chad had to practically run the whole place himself for the past month or so. But now she was ready to go back so that finally her plan could take its course.

Drugging Luis. Luis often came to the Book Café once a week and ordered one coffee with a little cream every single time. Gwen as well did the same thing. Taking advantage of that situation Beth decided that she would spike their coffee up a bit so they could get it on in the sack.

And after they did that, Beth would call Sheridan and report to her that Luis was nowhere to be seen, which would lead Sheridan to go to Gwen’s place to ask her if she had seen Luis at all. And that’s when she would be in for the most devastating shock of her life. Her best friend and her boyfriend having sex. Together. It was far too sweet for words.

Chapter 1:

Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald stared at the exquisite looking goddess lying down right before him on the bed. She was smiling in her sleep, which caused him too as well. He had never been so in love and so happy his entire life and he had Sheridan to thank for that.

Sheridan. The name sounded so heavenly and angelic, but the person with that name was far more beautiful. ‘No not beautiful.’ He thought to himself. ‘More like, perfect.’ He was so deep in thought he didn’t see Sheridan stir slightly from her sleep and say his name ever so softly.

“Luis.” Sheridan murmured. When he didn’t reply she gently touched his cheek and began caressing it making little circles very slowly. Luis looked down and saw Sheridan awake with her soft tan skin and sparkling blue eyes looking right at him. “What are you smiling about?” She asked him in a quiet, sweet voice. He replied with the same quiet tone she had just used.

“I was smiling because I can’t stop thinking how good it is to have you with me right here and right now.” “Luis” “Yes Sheridan?” “I love you. You know I often wonder why on earth I got so lucky to have you love me.” She told him honestly. “No Sher I think that I am the lucky one.” “No I am.” She replied with a competitive look on her face.

“Tell you what.” Luis started. “I will admit that you are the lucky one, under one condition.” “And what would that be?” She asked. “You simply have to give me a big kiss.” Sheridan looked at him in surprise. “Is that the only thing you want?” She asked him. “That and much more.” He replied placing delicate kisses on her neck.

Chapter 2:

Luis walked into the Book Café and spotted Gwen. Luis and Gwen became quite good friends and often ran into each other at the Book Café so they would talk and drink coffee.

She looked up and saw him and motioned for him to come and sit down. He knew he had a grin plastered on his face, which all came from the love making that him and Sheridan had experienced a little while ago. It was so passionate and intense and there was such an unbelievable connection between the two of them. It wasn’t anything that he could describe. He walked up to the table and sat down across from Gwen.

“What are you so happy about?” Gwen asked him with a mischievous and curious look on her face. Luis looked up and grinned even bigger than before. Gwen blushed and started coughing. “I wish I never even asked that.” She said unable to look at him straight in the eye. “How about we forget it.” Luis suggested. He enjoyed discomfiting her way too much.

The two of them started discussing what was going on with their lives and didn’t even notice the pair of green eyes watching them from the counter.

Chapter 3:

Beth leaned against the counter and watched closely as Gwen and Luis shared a laughed and began talking some more. She walked up to their table and cleared her throat. “Sorry to interrupt, but should I get you guys the usual?” She was talking quite fast but the sooner she gave them their coffee the sooner they would drink it and the sooner Sheridan would leave Luis. She smiled thinking how smart she was to think up such a brilliant plan.

“Beth!” “Yeah?” She snapped out of her daze. “I said yes.” Gwen replied a bit annoyed. “Okay I will be right back in a few minutes with your cups of coffee.” Beth walked to the counter and took the coffee that she got ready a few minutes earlier. She took the bottle of alcohol out of her back pocket and poured a good amount into both of the cups as quietly as she could. She took the cups with her and set them back on the table in front of her two targets.

“Here you are. I hope you like them.” She smiled sweetly at them. A wicked gleam twinkled in her eye and then she walked away. She stared at Gwen and Luis examining their every move, wondering why it was taking them so long to just take one god damn sip from the cup. Finally after what seemed like hours the moment she had been waiting for happened. Luis was the first one to take a sip.

“Gwen?” He said. “This coffee tastes a little strange to me. What do you think?” Gwen lifted the cup to her mouth and let the warm brown liquid hit her tongue. “Actually it does taste a little different.” She replied. Shit. Beth completely forgot that the alcohol would add a little different taste to it.

A disgusting taste. One that left an after taste that was just simply horrible. What was she going to do? She ran her hand through her hair and let out a huff. Thinking rather quickly she got up and walked over to their table. “Gwen and Luis I need to tell you something. It’s something about the coffee and I feel as if you guys should know.

Chapter 4:

Luis and Gwen stared at Beth with blank, yet questioning faces waiting for her next word. “There is a new coffee flavor out, and it was given to this café to try out first. I secretly poured some in your cups to try. If you guys don’t like then I am sorry. But we really needed some people to try it out.” That was the biggest line of bullshit she had ever said her entire life.

She was hoping that they would buy it. After all it was pretty dumb to say, but hey it was better than telling the truth! Did she feel guilty about it? Of course not! Well actually there was a little voice in her head scolding her for being so cruel to innocent people but she would make sure that the little voice wouldn’t get the best of her.

She looked at their faces and studied them hard. Then Luis opened his mouth and began. “Beth its fine. I just thought it tasted a little different that’s all also I have a small cold so my taste buds aren’t exactly cooperating.” He chuckled a little. “Me too.” Gwen chimed in. “Good.” Beth said simply and walked away.

Chapter 5:

Beth continued watching them at her spot at the counter. They were going at it. It was perfect. Her plan was working like a charm except the fact that Luis was calling Gwen, Sheridan and Gwen was calling Luis, Ethan. Oh well.

‘And now for phase three.’ She murmured as quietly as she could to herself. Calling Sheridan. The question was would Sheridan believe her? She hadn’t thought of all these issues that might occur before. People for sure weren’t lying when they would say, easier said than done.

Chapter 6:

Beth slowly punched in the numbers to Sheridan’s cottage. She was nervous that Sheridan wouldn’t believe what she told her. So she did the only thing she could do. Cross her fingers and hope for the best. Well, at least the best for her. Once Sheridan and Luis were separated then Beth would receive everything that she had ever wanted. Luis.

Sure he would probably mope around rambling about memories with Sheridan and how much he loved her but she would be there to comfort Luis. And the comforting she had in mind involved many unspeakable things. After quite a few rings, Beth decided to hang up and try a few seconds later. And just as she was about to set the phone down a voice took her off guard. "Hello?"

"Sheridan? Hi this is Beth." She said hoping that Sheridan would buy her sudden act of kindness. After all she didn’t exactly treat Sheridan very well. "What do you want Beth?" Sheridan demanded. "Look I didn’t call you to bicker. Luis is missing. He never showed up here at the Book Café this morning. Gwen was worried about him so she asked me to tell you to meet her at her apartment so that you two can pair up and search for him." She rambled on and on.

Sheridan's face held confusion. Lots of it. It wasn’t like Beth to help others the way she did a couple of seconds ago. Sill quite suspicious Sheridan said good bye and hung up. She decided that she shouldn’t take any chances and if Luis was missing than she should go search for him. She grabbed her coat and purse and ran as fast as she could all the way to Gwen’s.

Chapter 7:

Sheridan was out of breath from running so fast, once she reached Gwen’s place. She inhaled and exhaled rapidly sitting down on a bench until she started breathing normally again. It was tough running in high heels for about half a mile. She told herself to never try to do that again. After a few minutes she got up and walked up to Gwen’s door and rang the doorbell. Nobody answered the door so she tried again. Still no answer. She opened the door to see what Gwen was doing.

"Gwen?" Sheridan called out. "Gwen? Are you in here?" She tried again. She walked into all the rooms to see if she was in one of them. When she reached Gwen’s bedroom door, she could hear romantic music playing in the background. Very cautiously she opened the door. And then she saw it. She pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating and sure enough, she wasn’t. Luis and Gwen were in each other’s arms.

Naked. She felt some hot tears slowly fill up her eyes. She tried to blink them away but there was just too much liquid and they came out rapidly at once. She walked out and closed the door behind her and then leaned against it. She slid down to the floor crying out all the sorrows she had built up inside of her hugging her knees tightly. She cursed at the world out there, she cursed at herself for being so blind, and finally she cursed at the two most important people in her life. She had so many questions.

How long were they having this secret affair? Why did Luis admit that he loved her when there was no way in hell he could? How could her judgement be so off? These and many more replayed through her head over and over again until she realized she had to do something. Leave Harmony for good.

Chapter 8:

Luis groaned. His head really hurt. He raised his hand to his temples and started rubbing them trying to ease the pain, only that didn’t work. When he stopped, he blinked a couple of times. Where the hell was he? Luis looked down, and then he realized he wasn’t alone. Gwen was with him in his arms and neither one of them was clothed.

'No wonder I have this headache. I was drunk!' Luis thought to himself. He cursed at himself over and over again for doing something so stupid. And then it hit him with a ton of bricks. How would he tell Sheridan this?
