Part One : Angels

There she lay, motionless, emotionless – lifeless on the ground infront of him. He felt himself drop to his knees and felt his eyes glue to the wound on her chest. As Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald watched the love of his life lie dead infront of him he felt his heart ache of sadness. He lightly touched her skin and felt his soul dim – feeling hers had escaped her body. Her spirit was flying somewhere – and even though she was there physically, he knew she was gone.
He felt the tears begin to burn his eyes as they continued to drench his shirt. “I – Sheridan!” He cried out, holding her hand gently. “We had so much to look forward to – we had a future – how can I have a future if you’ re not in it? You are my future!” He let the tears stream down his face and tried to breathe as he continued, “Oh – and Sheridan…how could you have died? How could you have died not knowing I’m loving you – not knowing I’ll always be loving you…knowing I’ve always loved you…And I wasted all that time…all that time I loved you and wanted to be…” he choked as he attempted to continue, “With you dying – I died too…my heart…my soul…my spirit – it all died with you…Oh Sheridan, I can’t live without you – come back, please…please…” He got up and closed his eyes hoping to wake up. Once he realized he was still awake – still there, he quickly grabbed his gun and ran off, passing a questioning sam and running pass a shocked Eve.

Luis stood on the dock. He stared up at the night sky and began asking questions…questions the sky couldn’t answer. He knew the decision he was about to make was one that was a perminant one. But Luis knew, he knew that without Sheridan he couldn’t live anyway – that’s exactly what he was thinking when he brought the tip of the gun to his temple.
Slowly, but surely he began to pull the trigger, “I love you Sheridan…” he murmered to himself as he shut his eyes and pulled it…
a bang of nothingness went off – nothing. Confused, he looked at the gun…studying it. That’s when it happened : a light appeared – a bright yellow light.
“What the hell?” He whispered as he droped the gun. ‘Okay’, he thought, ‘I have to be dead – there’s no way that this light is real…’ He watched as a woman appeared infront of him…the woman looked an awful lot like…”Grace Bennett?” He asked.
“No, this is Grace’s sister – Faith Standish.”
“No, you’re dead.” He paused, “Am I dead?”
“No.” She smiled.
“Why didn’t the gun go off?” He asked her suspiciously.
“Because God didn’t think you were ready for – “
“Then why did he let Sheridan go?” He interrupted.
“Luis – Sheridan’s half angel – did you know that?”
“pardon me?”
“She’s half angel – her mother was born an angel and brought to earth.” She paused, “She wasn’t suppose to have had a baby down here – she wasn’t suppose to have Sheridan…but Sheridan’s mother fell in love with Alistar : a pawn of satans. Her mother was taken back to heaven to be a full time angel under contract to never again make contact with humans.” Faith sighed as she continued, “Lately, the good side has been in a bit of trouble. Are angels are being taken over to the dark side and made into demons – we need more angels – and only few people are really angels. Not everyone can be an angel – Sheridan is an angel.”
“She’s … wow, my imagination’s sure gone wild…”
“Luis – they needed her. The angel’s population’s decreasing…however…I came here to make a deal with you…”
“what is it?” He asked, “To bring back Sheridan?”
“To bring back Sheridan.” She responded smiling.
“What do you want from me?”
“Angels can only come from Angels. There are only a few ways one can become an angel…you have to be pure…innocent – when you died…or born the daughter of one – like Sheridan…which would make Sheridan’s baby an angel too…”
“I’m confused.” Luis interrupted, “What is it that you want?”
“Luis – we’ll give you Sheridan back on one condition…we need an angel for an angel – they’re valuable and we need them…”
“What do you want then?”
“The first daughter that you and Sheridan have…”
“What?!” Luis interrupted, “Once we have a daughter you’re gonna kill her?”
“no – we’ll take her as an enfant and train her as an angel – forever.”
“That’s – but what if Sheridan doesn’t – what if Sheridan has the baby and she’s too attatched to her…”
“We’d take the baby right out of the stomach – we’d deliver the baby…you can tell Sheridan – Luis, it’s the only way Sheridan will live…that God will let Sheridan live… we can’t have an uneven number – when we take inventory – headcounts…halo counts…”
“But she’ll be protected?”
“she’ll be immortal…”
“How about our kids after her?”
“You can keep them!” She smiled, “We need angels though – saints and angels…”
“I understand.” Luis began, “All right.”
“So…we have to go to Sheridan – and Luis – for future reference : No one else can see me but you.”
“I’m living a movie…I swear…” He laughed as he excitedly began walking with Faith towards the cottage.
“You’ll need to hold her hands and I have to basically put her soul back in her…”
“What? Okay – okay…whatever…let’s do it! I need her back.”
“Then let’s do it!” Faith smiled, holding Luis’s hand…

Part Two : Born Again

Faith stepped back as a mesmerized Luis watched as the lifeless body began to move. The movement was almost unnoticeable – but the sound of breathing could be heard throughout the world. An angel on earth, waking up – alive. Luis almost choked as he dropped next to her, holding her head in his lap. He watched as she continued to stir and awaken. Probably the most amazing moment in his life was just now – when her eyelids fluttered open. “Sheridan!” He stuttered, “You’re – you’re back!” He couldn’t hold in his tears any longer, this moment was too emotional. His love, alive – new, reborn in his arms. “Oh Sheridan…” he began, “I love you – I love you – I love you…” He turned to see Faith fading away, “Thank you Faith – Thank you! Thank you for bringing her back!” “Love her, Luis. She’s your angel – take care of her, love her.” She paused, “I’ll see you in a few years.”

Luis kissed her lips as she moved her hand to his. He watched as her wound began to fade. The blood flowed into oblivion as the wound on her chest shrunk. “Sheridan!” Luis whispered as he pulled her back into his arms again. Sheridan blinked a few times as she touched his face, “What happened? Aren’ t you suppose to be in Washington?”
“What?” He asked, “You don’t remember?”
“Remember what Luis?” Sheridan smiled as she kissed his lips, “I remember just hearing you say…”
“I love you!” He finished as he placed a kiss on her forehead. “You were shot – you died…”
“No…Luis…are you okay?” She asked nervously, “I’m right here.”
“Sheridan…I’ll explain to you later – first we have to let everyone know you’re alive – that you’re safe…”
“I’ve always been – “
“I’m never leaving your side again. NEVER.” Luis stated.
“I wouldn’t want you to – but there seems to be an awful lot getting me confused right now.”
“Just – calm down a second – I’ll be right back.” Luis stood up and walked to the door. “Sam!” He called out, “Sheridan’s alive!”
Sheridan heard footsteps as Sam approached Luis, “What Luis? Luis – listen – Sheridan’s…”
“Sam?” Sheridan asked.
“What the hell?” Sam whispered, shocked as he saw Sheridan’s beautiful blue eyes looking at him. “You’re dead!” He paused, “Luis?”
“Sam – it’s a long story…and you’d think I was – it’s odd…I’ll tell you later.”
“Sheridan’s alive? Okay…that means…we have to – what do we do? I’m confused. We still have to track down the person who…murdered her…” Sam squinted and still saw Sheridan, “She didn’t have a pulse five minutes ago.”
“Sam – Just…we need to close this case…as soon as possible.”
“all right Luis. We still need to treat this place like a crime scene though…we still have to track down the person who – attempted murder?!” Sam paused, “Where are you going to stay?”
“I’m going to take her to Grace’s bed and breakfast…if that’s all right with you and Grace?!”
“Sure. Luis – we’re posting you as her bodyguard still because it’s obvious she’s still in danger. We’ll track down the person for you.”

Sheridan and Luis arrived in their room at the bed and breakfast. Sheridan sat down in the wooden chair and sighed, “Why does everyone think I ’m dead?” She paused, “Why did everyone think I died?”
“Sheridan – you were shot. You had no pulse…”
“Has everyone in this town gone mad? I’m alive! Look at me! I don’t even have a gun wound…” She paused, “What happened? Tell me Luis!”
He kneeled next to her and took her hands into his, “Sheridan…you were killed. You were dead – believe it or not. After seeing you – and realizing you were dead – I died too – and I wanted to die…” He tried to say it calmly but the more he tried to stop his tears the more they welled up, “I went down to the docks – and I brought my gun…I was about to kill myself…”
“Oh Luis!” Sheridan interrupted, allowing her own tears to fall, “I’m so confused…”
“Sheridan…with you dying – I died too…and I tried to pull the trigger – and this big bright light came…”
“this is getting weirder and weirder…”
“I saw Faith Standish…Grace’s twin sister…she told me about you – about you being an angel…”
“I’m not an angel…” Sheridan paused, “What’s this – Luis…”
“She told me she would negotiate something to bring you back to me…”
“So I was dead? And you traded something for me?”
“Yes! Just wait…I’m getting there…” She squeezed his hand tighter and he went on, “She told me about heaven and angels…she told me that you were an angel and you were going to be an angel in heaven…” He watched her reaction and continued, “She said they were lacking angels lately…and they were going to take you – and every ten years they take angel inventory…they were going to take you…you would die here on earth – but you would not die – you’d live…WAIT – it sounds strange…but…” Sheridan felt Luis squeeze her hand and she knew he wasn’t lying but at the same time she couldn’t believe it, “And Sheridan, she asked something for you…she needed something for you – for you to come back…I gave her…”
“What did you give her Luis?” Sheridan whispered.
“Our first daughter.” He answered softly.
“What?!” Sheridan asked confused – more so than before.
“I had to! She wouldn’t die Sheridan…she’d just grow up in heaven – she’d grow up with the other angels…she’d still be with us…she’d be raised above though…and we get to keep all our other children.”
“Thank you…” Sheridan cried, “What happens if we don’t have a baby?”
“They predict the future, Sheridan…we’re going to be together, and we’ re going to have a family.” He smiled. “They get our first baby…but we’ll have many – and even though she’ll be up there…she’ll be with us – too. We can see her sometimes…”
“Wow.” Sheridan paused, “I don’t know how to react to this.”
“Don’t worry Sheridan…It’s strange – even to me.”
“Did you mean it earlier?” She asked.
“mean what, Sheridan?”
“About loving me…” She paused, “did you mean it?”
“Yes.” Luis whispered.
She shook her head and let more tears spill out, “I love you too…”
“I need you to know that – I need your heart to know it. I need you to know it because – when you died – it felt like I died…my heart is yours – you have it…and it’s loving you and it will always be loving you.”
“Luis…” She cried as she kissed his lips sweetly.
“Death showed me that I need to appreciate you – and you’re the most precious thing to me – you mean everything to me, Sheridan. I love you and I’ll always – I’m always going to be loving you.”
“Luis…I’ll be loving you too.” She wrapped her arms around him and held him close to her.
“you don’t hurt at all?” Luis asked pulling back slightly.
“Well, no. But my heart does feel kind of funny – it could be two things : one being that…maybe it was shot and it’s tingling – or two – it could be loving you overtime.” She smiled at him as she hugged him closely.
“I love your smile – I love your everything.” Luis breathed lightly as he picked her up quickly, “You’re going to rest.”
“Will you rest with me?” She asked sweetly.
“Yes.” He lay her down on the bed and lay beside her.
“Thanks…” She smiled into his shoulder.
“I’m going to be here with you – forever.”
