Daddy's GirlWelcome to our TYR Discussion. As many may know-Jamie has been without a computer for a while now. Hopefully she will be back before long. I would like to thank Wendy M. for discussing Daddy's Girl with me. I really enjoyed it! Hope you enjoy!NightinGail777: A big Howdy to ya, Wendy. Thanks so much for helping Jamie and I out with our TYR discussions. WendyMccloud1861: You are so welcome Gail!!!I'm just thrilled to get a chance to chat about TYR... NightinGail777: Teaspoon has so much wisdom....I just love his little talk with the boys before they get to the fair. Emma gets him straight about the saloon being closed though.
WendyMccloud1861: Got to love Teaspoon...always NightinGail777: Then Buck sees Kathleen and you can tell he is smitten by her.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah...poor Buck...you can tell by his expression he's gone on her.. NightinGail777: If he only knew ahead of time. I kinda knew that she would be involved somehow when they showed the man blasting for gold. And then those two goons come out and took his farm. The bank foreclosed and then they shot him.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah...I knew they were trouble right from the start...and there was just something about Kathleen that just didn't set right... NightinGail777: I just love how the little girl hits the bullseye and gets Sam all wet. Then he comes up to Emma while Tompkins is announcing the start of the race.
WendyMccloud1861: That was so funny!!! Sam had such a look of surprise on his face when he fell in the water!!!
WendyMccloud1861: He didn't think anyone...especially that little girl was going to hit the target... NightinGail777: I don't think he did.......boy was he wrong. NightinGail777: Of course you know all our riders had to enter that race-a twenty dollar gold piece! NightinGail777: I think the funniest part of this ep is when the race is going on. First Jimmy is run off the trail and ends up hanging on a sign....
WendyMccloud1861: You could just tell that Hickok was upset over that incident!!!
WendyMccloud1861: Had to laugh at him too...he's always so cocky and sure of himself that when things don't go right...it really gets his goat... NightinGail777: That's my Jimmy. Then Ike saves a little boy and Cody and that man get to fighting.
WendyMccloud1861: Isn't that just like Ike? He's such a sweet fellow....the scene where Cody and the other guy fighting is hilarious... NightinGail777: Of course Cody realizes that he just lost by beating the guy up.....oh the look on his face. They never show what happened to Lou and Kid though.....just Buck crossing the finish line and winning.
WendyMccloud1861: I know...what was up with that? I don't know about any of the rest of you TYR fans...but any time any of the riders does something...like Buck winning the race...I get so excited... NightinGail777: I do too-our boys are the best!!! And Buck gets the gold coin. Did you see the look on his face when Kathleen kissed him after giving him the coin.......I think it shocked him.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah...he was probably waiting for her to make some kind of fuss about kissing a half-breed...little did he know she had other plans for him... NightinGail777: Of course the look on her father's face said it all. You could tell that she was just doing it to make him mad.
NightinGail777: And then he really gets on her..boy you can tell that she is a spoiled rotten brat.
WendyMccloud1861: She was definitely a spoiled brat alright...felt really bad for Buck...he just wanted to have a girl of his own... NightinGail777: Buck looked so infactuated when he went up to talk to her. And then when she ask him to teach her to ride.
NightinGail777: Then Mrs. Crowley comes up and blames the men that shot her husband-I wished she would have shot one of them instead of missing.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah..me too...she was so grief stricken...who can balme her? Loved how gentle Sam was with her...here she had swiped his gun and took a potshot at somebody and he just took the gun away instead of arresting her.
NightinGail777: Sam was a great marshall. He could see that she was in pain. NightinGail777: That Rance just makes my blood boil....how dare he threaten our Buck. But Buck didn't let that scare him....he meets her the next day to "teach" her how to ride. I knew that something was really up when she admitted that she could ride and was regional equestrian champion. I did like seeing Buck show off...now he could really ride.
WendyMccloud1861: yeah...and he belived her right off...not all men would have done it...he always made it a point to know the people in town on a personal level NightinGail777: That's what made him so good at what he did. WendyMccloud1861: Did you see the look on Buck's face when Rance threatened him...? It was filled with a quiet resignation...but determination too...he wasn't going to let anyone tell him what to do. WendyMccloud1861: Then again none of the boys ..er and Lou ever did...except for Teaspoon that is NightinGail777: That's our Buck.....he was brave and didn't scare easy. WendyMccloud1861: yeah...sigh... NightinGail777: Yep-Teaspoon was like a daddy to them. I guess they knew they had to listen to him or pay for it later :-P WendyMccloud1861: That's true...but I think it was more than that...the riders knew that Teaspoon had only their best interests in mind and that he loved them... NightinGail777: "I really wanted to see you again".......I bet she did. She just wanted to use Buck. Buck is such the man when he opens the bottle of wine. He is wise not to drink any-and when she gives him the patte-he offers it to the six powers of the world.
WendyMccloud1861: It was like seeing the two aspects of him...being able to pop the cork on the wine without spilling it and choosing to pass on drinking any...and then picking up the patte and offereing it NightinGail777: Did you notice the sad look that came on his face when she ask him about his knife and if he ever used it on anyone? Then she gives him the necklace that he was admiring. WendyMccloud1861: You could almost see his hesitation in telling her...of wondering if he told her the truth that she would think ill of him...but him being Buck he always spoke the truth... NightinGail777: Yes he did. I think that is one character trait of his that I liked the most. WendyMccloud1861: Me too...that and his staying true to both of his heritages...although it was often a struggle for him to do it NightinGail777: Poor Mrs. Crowley...she is determined to find the gold her husband was looking for. Thank goodness the boys & Lou were there with her.
WendyMccloud1861: yes...and she was so determined...you could just see that the boys & Lou didn't know what quite to do for her...shows that innocence they still had in situations like that... NightinGail777: Well Kid and Jimmy just stood there but Ike and Lou went over to her when she started crying.
WendyMccloud1861: yeah...Ike's so tender hearted when it comes to people and animals...and Lou went but it looked to me as if she wasn't sure of what to do or say either... NightinGail777: That's true. I guess it's hard to know what to say in those cases. NightinGail777: Buck is so protective when those other indians come riding up......he tells Kathleen to get behind him and not make any sudden movements. Oh to have a man like that.
WendyMccloud1861: He didn't know how they were going to act...makes me think...How far out of Sweetwater did they ride...I had a hunch what they were signing about too...
NightinGail777: I guess they went out pretty far since he was gonna teach her to ride....of course I wouldn't mind going out that far to be alone with him either. I think she did cos she didn't want her father or Rance to find out. WendyMccloud1861: I wouldn't have minded going out somewhere by myself with Buck either...and I think you are right...Kathleen didn't want to get caught WendyMccloud1861: Loved that adorable face of Buck's when he tells Kathleen that they wanted to buy her with their ponies...
NightinGail777: I know....she was sarcastic when he told her that he asked for four ponies. NightinGail777: Then when he told her that he would have been a rich man....her tune changed, she thanked him and then kissed him.
WendyMccloud1861: And he told her that she's worth at least five...maybe six...what would she have done if he had really sold her.... NightinGail777: That would have been interesting to see. WendyMccloud1861: yep.... NightinGail777: And then when she gets home her dad jumps all on her....he's got her number..but she's got his too.
WendyMccloud1861: oh yeah...she definitely had the knack for twisting ole Daddy around her little finger NightinGail777: Rance and his hoodlums are gonna be sorry that they treated Buck the way they did dragging him in the stream and painting him and then covering him with feathers.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah...I loved how Buck resorted to his Kiowa side to get revenge on them...instead of going after them with a gun...I guess he knew he's be in hot water with Teaspoon if he killed them...
NightinGail777: I loved it too. He had them so scared they left. WendyMccloud1861: They really got what they had coming..loved it...
NightinGail777: Teaspoon did so many things-now we find out he was prospector too while he is at the assayer's office. He gets really excited when Malcolm confirms that he has gold.
WendyMccloud1861: And quicklly clamps down when he realizes how loud he was being...but at the same time you see that mischievous look in his eyes as if he's thinking on something....Oh I loved how he goes into Devlin's office and tells them that if anyone does something else to Buck they would be sorry..
NightinGail777: Now back at Emma's he confronts Buck about what has happened. Teaspoon is so wise and he is so bad when he tells off Devlin. I bet he was something when he was younger.
WendyMccloud1861: He's something when he's older too!!! I was impressed...seems like Devliin was too NightinGail777: Loved it when Kathleen told her father that she would see whomever she wanted and he slapped her.
WendyMccloud1861: you loved the slapping part you mean...I so didn't want her anywhere near Buck once I learned what she was doing...he deserved better NightinGail777: Yep-the slapping part....heehee. I think Buck deserved a lot better. NightinGail777: Emma thought she was bringing good news when she rode out and told Mrs. Crowley that the assayer said the gold was real. She was so sad cos she knew her husband was right. And then Emma told her about Devlin being the one buying up all the land. I think she knew right then that he was behind her husband's death and she was gonna get him back.
WendyMccloud1861: Yeah...I bet Emma blamed herself for awhile after telling Mrs. Crowley too when she found out Rance killed her...
NightinGail777: I think she could have. But she couldn't have known what Mrs. Crowley was gonna do.
NightinGail777: Buck's revenge was sooo sweet. Just loved the way he burried the first man and left his head out so the tarantulas could crawl all over it. The second man haning over the snake pit wasn't bad either. WendyMccloud1861: That was so great...he really wanted to know just who they were messing around with... NightinGail777: Now Devlin gets bad-he is mad at what Buck done, tells Kathleen that she can't see him anymore and that she will marry Rance on Sunday. Boy she doesn't like that at all. I can't say I blame her though......I wouldn't like it if my father made me marry someone I didn't like.
WendyMccloud1861: me neither...I would tell him straight where to go!!! Buck is so willing to believe her...that Kathleen really loves him ...so that he's willing to run away with her
NightinGail777: Ahhhh....now the truth comes out about the boy in St. Louis that loves her.
NightinGail777: And she uses Buck to take her there.......only he thinks he's going with her cos she loves him. WendyMccloud1861: poor Buck...he was so trusting and wanting to believe in her...but truly didn't know what type of a woman he was dealing with. NightinGail777: Well he was still so young. WendyMccloud1861: I know...ah to be young again... NightinGail777: I think that other than Little Bird-Kathleen was the first girl to give him any attention WendyMccloud1861: You could just hear the concern in Lou's voice when she runs into Buck and Kathleen on the trail out of town... NightinGail777: At least he told her where they were going. That was good cos the others knew something was up. What would have happened if they hadn't showed up. WendyMccloud1861: Buck would be dead and Rance would ahve married Kath;een to get her Dad's money NightinGail777: That's true-thank goodness for our boys. Buck looked so thrilled that she wanted him to double up with her after her horse picked up a stone.
WendyMccloud1861: After he so gallantly told her to take his...what a man...willing to do anything for somebody he loved...even though she didn't deserve it NightinGail777: And the way he defended her when she said that she didn't want to go back. I think she thought that Buck would kill Rance and then she wouldn't have to marry him and she could go on to St. Louis.
WendyMccloud1861: Me too...only things didn't quite work out the way she planned NightinGail777: I think he knew that she was just using him when he went to kiss her and she turned away. I felt so bad for him then. But thanks to our boys.....they didn't do anything to Buck.
WendyMccloud1861: Yes...I wanted to come right through the screen and tell her off or worse...the boys had a knack for saving the day
NightinGail777: I think Buck was hoping he was wrong when he went after her. And he did save her daddy from Rance. Then she told him she was sorry. I felt so bad for him when he laid her necklace on the desk and walked out.
WendyMccloud1861: Me too... NightinGail777: The look on his face was heartbreaking. WendyMccloud1861: i wanted to cry with him... NightinGail777: I know what you mean. NightinGail777: Well that about does it for Daddy's Girl. I want to thank you once again for helping me out while Jamie is computerless. WendyMccloud1861: No problem...I really enjoyed myself... NightinGail777: Until next time-Nighty night everyone and Ride Safe. WendyMccloud1861: Ride Safe everbody
