Happy
Anniversary Bo and Candy Cane
“Good
morning Candy, darling. I can't believe that we've been together seven years.”
“Bo
sweetie, I can't believe it either. Just think Honeybee is 6.”
“Three
months after we got married we learned that Honeybee was on the way. Two years
ago Tammy came to live with us and little Bo will be a year old next month.”
Candy
looked serious. “Bo do you ever have any regrets? I mean me being in a wheel
chair and not being able to walk and all…”
“The only
thing I regret is us not finding each other sooner” Bo smiled as he takes Candy
in his arms and they kiss passionately.
Candy with
tears in her eyes, “Bo Duke I love you more then life it self.”
Meanwhile at
the Boar’s Nest, “Well these papers
should shake up pretty boy Duke and that little munchkin that he married. Them
finding out that they weren’t really married and that means that their little
daughter brat Honeybee is well everyone soon enough will know.“ Hughie Hogg
laughed as he looked at his partner.
Three days
later the phone rings at the Duke home
“Duke
residence, this is Honeybee… who is this please?”
“I’m Lolly
Parsons, Hazzard Gazette news reporter… tell me little girl, is it true that
your momma and daddy aren’t really married? You and your brother are
illegitimate.”
Honeybee
slammed the phone down and ran outside crying. “Daddy, is it true that you and
Momma aren't married…that me and little Bo are illegitimate?”
Bo
replied. “Of course it's not true. Who in the world would say something as
hurtful as that to you?”
Honeybee
explained the phone call from the reporter to her father.
Bo asked,
“Now baby don't you say a word of this to your momma. Let daddy take care of it
okay, sweetie?”
Honeybee
wiped a tear from her deep blue eyes as Luke stepped towards them. “Okay,
Daddy. “
“Now Bo,
calm down we'll go see Rosco. I’m sure that he'll clear this up.”
“I hope
so, Luke. I just don't know what this will do to Candy if she finds this out.
Little
Honeybee was heart broken as they left.
Rosco
smiled. “Hey Toodles, darling it's Bo and Luke Duke. I hope that everything’s
okay.” He paused a second, “Hey Bo and Luke.”
Luke
smiled. “Rosco, when you married Bo and Candy. It was legal wasn’t it?”
Rosco’s
blue eyes looked puzzled. “Jit Jit, Are you kidding me?? Of course it was.”
Bo told
Rosco about the phone call.
Rosco
spoke softly, “Bo, I promise you that you and Candy are married. I’ll check
into it just incase something is fishy.”
At the
Duke farm
Candy
looked at her daughters. “You okay, Honeybee? You don't seem like your peppy
happy fun loving self.”
Tammy
whispered, “Maybe you'd better tell her.”
Little
Honeybee snuggled next to her momma. “A woman called yesterday and said that
you and daddy were never really married… That Little Bo and me are
illegitimate.”
“Honeybee
baby I know that your daddy and I are married, but just in case you’re not that
mean name that she said. Little Bo, Tammy, and you are our sweet angels from God
above. Honeybee, don't you worry, your daddy and I will take care of it.”
Honeybee
looked up. “You promise?”
Candy
nodded. “I promise double, triple pinky swear. Now you girls go get ready for bed.
When your daddy gets back, I’m sure that we can find out the truth.”
Honeybee
smiled. “Momma, I love you.”
Candy
smiled. “ Me too, angel.”
A little
while later
“Candy,
honey I’m home.”
“Come over
here, handsome.”
They kiss
tenderly
Candy said,
“Bo, Honeybee told me everything.”
Bo held
Candy close. “Are you okay, baby?”
Candy
replied, “I’m fine but we've got to
find out if Rosco really did marry us. If this gets out you know how cruel that
children can be.”
Bo shook
his head. “I remember Hughie Hogg. He was the meanest skunk err child that ever
lived. The way that he picked on little Amina Danielle was awful.”
Candy
snapped her fingers, “That’s it, Bo. He’s always wanted to break us up ever
since we were little kids.”
Bo’s blue
eyes were stormy. “If it is him, I’ll knock his block off.”
Candy
smiled. “I’ve got to get up early so we'd better get to bed early tonight.”
Bo eyes
twinkled. “That’s just what I was thinking too.
Candy
teased, “But what if we’re not really married?”
Bo grinned,
“Let’s go find a preacher and make it legal.”
Candy says
“Bo, you are free you know if your not truly happy.”
Bo says
“Look you little munchkin I’ve loved you for over thirty years and the only
thing I’m sorry about is we didn’t find each other again sooner.”
Candy had
tears in her eyes. “Bo Duke, I love you more then anything.”
“I love
you to my favorite little munchkin,” Bo whispered as their lips met in a kiss.
The next morning, Candy called her lawyer
in Nashville about what’s going on and is just filling Bo in on the
details.
“If it
cost every dime that I have, I want you to find out if that no good skunk
Hughie Hogg is up to his old tricks again. If it is him, I’m going to sue him
blind and make sure that he never hurts my family ever again. I have to get
going, Bye.”
That’s my
Candy Cane Bo
thought with a smile as she hung the phone up.
“Candy,
I’ve got to go and get some stuff done. You gonna be okay here until I get
back?”
Candy
smiled. “I will, Honey.”
Bo kissed
Candy. “See you later, baby.”
Candy
giggled. “See you later my great, big, beautiful stud muffin.”
Bo went to
Enos and Daisy’s to tell them.
Daisy
agreed. “Bo, I bet that Candy is right.”
Enos said,
“I’ll have some of my FBI buddies check into this.”
Bo smiled.
“Enos, you’re the greatest.”
Enos
blushed modestly. “That’s okay buddy roe, we’re family and family sticks
together.”
Daisy
laughed, “You make me so proud.”
“Enos,
you’re the best friend us Dukes ever had. It's easy to see why Daisy loves you
so much.” Bo said.
The next
morning the paperboy delivered the paper to the Duke farm
Candy
opened it and her eyes widened seeing the front page. “Those dirty, no good
polecats! How could they print this without talking to us first?”
Bo
frowned, “Candy, calm down. I don't want you to get sick.”
Candy
replied, “Bo, it's not me I’m worried about. It's our children.”
Bo sighed.
“There’s only one thing that we can do. Get married again, we'll make sure it's
legal this time.”
Candy’s
face expression was serious. “Bo, you know if we’re not really married this may
be your chance to be free.”
“Candy
Cane Duke, I love you and I mean all of you! It's true that you may be in a
wheel chair, I’d be lying if I said that I don't pray that someday you'll walk
again. But I love you, I have ever since we were children. I’ve known lots of
other women but I’ve only known one real woman for me. Candy, that’s you.”
Candy with
tears in her eyes. “Bo, I love you more then anything.”
Well, folks
the next few weeks were busy for the Dukes. Bo and Candy Cane got married
again. Everyone found out that Hughie was the culprit behind the phone call and
newspaper article.
Candy
snuggled closer to Bo. “Darling, I wish that Hughie Hogg could leave us alone.”
Bo
replied, “Sweetheart, he’s just jealous of what we have. He always has been but
as long as we love and believe in each other, no one or nothing can break us
up.”
Candy with
a twinkle in her deep blue eyes, “Hey, let’s stop talking about that mangy
polecat. We’re still on our honeymoon, remember?”
Bo smiled
mischievously. “I sure do, you cute little munchkin.”
Folks,
like I’ve always said in Hazzard County we believe in happy endings.
