Bo and Candy’s First Kiss
Tonight On The Dukes: It’s Bo and Candy
Cane’s very first kiss…
Eight-year-old Luke Duke yells
from the bathroom. “Hey Bo, it’s time to get up and get ready for school.”
Five-year-old Beauregard Duke
appeared and leaned against the door. “I’m up, Luke… I got something I gotta do
today.”
Luke turned toward him after
running a comb through his wavy dark hair. “You mean you gonna walk Candy to
school again.”
Bo grinned as a shy lock of
blonde bangs fell into his dark blue eyes.
Luke’s light blue eyes looked
mischievous “You know the other kids are starting to talk… I’ve had a few of
them ask me when the two of you are getting married.”
Bo smiled. “When I grow up, I’m
going to marry Candy Cane. She’s pretty and nice. She’s got a great left hook.”
He paused and laughed. “Just ask Hughie Hogg.”
Luke smiled. “Yeah, she really
let him have it—I always knew she was sweet on you.”
“If she didn’t make the first
move… I was ready too.”
You mean you would’ve shared your
chocolate chip cookies.”
“Yup”
“When you two get married, Can I
be the best man?”
“You sure can cousin.”
* * *
Candy Cane looked at her momma.
“Can I have an extra brownie for school, please?”
Candy’s momma turned from packing
her lunch. “Is it for Bo?”
Candy grinned. “Yes, momma. I’m
gonna marry him some day.”
Candy’s momma smiled and handed
her a lunch bag. “He is a little sweetie. Have a good day.”
“Thank you.” Candy took the bag
and strolled out side, She was about a block away from her house when she saw
the blonde haired Duke boy running toward her.
Bo hollers. “Hey wait for me.”
Candy stopped for a moment and
waited for him to catch up. “I’ll always wait for you.”
Bo gently took Candy’s hand.
“Candy Cane, you sure look pretty today.”
Candy blushed. “You sure look
handsome today, Bo.”
Bo blushed and they walked the
rest of the way to school.
Hughie Hogg teases. “Well if it
isn’t the little lovebirds.”
Bo frowned. “Knock it off Hughie
or I’ll blacken your other eye.
Candy rolled her eyes. “Oh Bo,
he’s just mad that a girl beat the tar out of him. Let’s ignore him.”
Hughie smirked. “Well I got Leo
and Clyde with me two.” He pauses as
two of his friends step close to him. “So you better hand your lunches over or
else.”
Bo glared at the three boys.
“Don’t worry Candy, I’ll protect you.”
Candy smiled. “Oh Bo, I won’t let
them hurt you either.”
Hughie demanded. “Give me those
lunches now.”
Bo shook his head. “No, these are
our’s. I brought cookies for Candy not you.”
Candy thought. He must really
love me if he brought me cookies.
Hughie ordered. “Leo, you and
Clyde get the girl. I’ll take care of blondie.”
Leo and Clyde stepped close to
Candy.
Bo grinned as Candy hauled off
and knocked Leo out.
Clyde stepped away. “Hughie, your
on your own. She might be little but she’s mean.” He grabbed Leo and ran.
Hughie undaunted by his friends
leaving him, swung at Bo.
Candy giggled as Bo swung back
and sent the public nuisance known as Hughie Hogg running.
Candy stepped over to Bo. “You’re
my hero. You must really love me.”
Bo blushed. “I sure do.” He
paused for a second. “Would you mind if I kiss you?”
“That would be great.” Candy
smiled. “But if you do, we have to get married when we grow up.”
Bo agreed. “We sure will and
that’s a promise.”
Then they shared their first
kiss and a sweet promise of forever.
