5/17/03: News: Maurice and Vanessa finally won their first emmy after being nominated for years at the 2003 Daytime Emmy's friday night on May 16, 2003 in NYC!!!!!

Soaps In Depth: Maurice Benard (Sonny) wasn't sure he was going to win... but he was sure about you.

VM: That's what he told me. I told him he was crazy. (Laughs.) When I came back on the show for those six months, he went on and on about how proud he was of me. He said, "If you're going to come back, you want to come in and take no prisoners." Maurice has always been kind of a father figure to me. I look up to him and admire him. To see that he felt so proud of me meant a lot to me. We worked so hard together for so long. For us to finally win after almost 10 years -and to win it together- it was a very special moment. -Aug '03

Sonny and Brenda – Blame It On The Rain

Why is it that, no matter how hard they try – no matter how hard fate tries, even – to bring their relationship to a close, Sonny and Brenda always wind up within kissing distance of one another? It’s a funny thing. Their spats and breakups are the stuff of legend. The mercurial model once wore a wire on the Mob boss, for Pete’s sake. The beauty is darn lucky she’s not wearing cement shoes, never mind Manolo Blahniks! But Sonny could no more hurt her than he could turn off his charm. He can’t resist her. She may be trouble with a capital T, but it rhymes with B that stands for “beloved”. So, regardless of how many times Sonny leaves Brenda standing alone in the rain, she’ll always come back for more. And whenever viewers hear a clap of thunder in the distance, they can rest assured that somewhere, a storm is brewing. Some forces of nature not even destiny can alter.
