Angel spat on him, then left the room as suddenly as he'd entered.
Wesley coughed, rolled over, and retched violently. Pain blossomed in his stomach and throat, joining the explosions in his head and chest. "I had to, you bastard," he muttered. "I had to."
He carefully pushed himself upright, gritting his teeth through the shudder, then pushed himself off the bed. The hospital floor was cold against his bare feet. Leaning on the bedside table, he stumbled towards the mirror. He touched the skin just over his cheekbone and winced; it was hot with pain. Knowing what would greet him, he slowly lifted his eyes to the mirror.
There was nothing there.
"You bastard."
