Corporal Walter 'Radar' O'Reilly
Name: Walter Eugene “Radar” O’Reilly - Radar’s nickname comes from his ability to know about things before they happen.

Radar was the first Company Clerk of the 4077th. Aged just 18 on his arrival at the unit, after his failure to get into the Marines, he was a wide-eyed boy, who nevertheless managed to keep the unit running like clockwork. Radar was probably the only person who understood the paperwork and bureaucracy of the army, and as a result was able to ably assist Hawkeye and Trapper, and later BJ in their stunts, as well as pulling a few of his own! He also walked all over Henry Blake, although he was unable to do this with Colonel Potter.
Throughout his stay at the 4077th, Radar maintained his innocence, whilst growing up through experiences such as Henry’s death. His brief promotion to Lieutenant taught him that he was happier being “one of the guys”.
Radar left the 4077th after his Uncle Ed died, leaving Radar’s mother alone. Radar was granted a compassionate discharge, leaving him free to return to his home in Ottumwa, Iowa.
