Episode 1.09:

Janet and Steve have finally completed the first issue of The Beat on the Street. They are putting it to bed and are very proud of their work. They finish and pick up a sleeping Maddy from her playpen. They get their things together and head home.

Gina had been running around town all day trying to get ready for Donna and her's trip to New York. She had already gotten a few new items, from Now Wear This, and made the reservations. She made contact with people out in New York and her staying out there at almost no cost at all wasn't a problem. She could live off the commission she made from new accounts. It was all working out. She was becoming a career woman. She couldn't find her favorite black top and then it hit her: It must be at Brandon's. So she goes over to his apartment and knocks on the door. She ovehears the tail-end of his phone conversation. She was shocked to hear that Brandon was publishing a book that he wrote back in DC. She wanted details but he said no, escorting her out the door.

On their way home from the office, Janet spots a Dairy Barn. Being pregnant and all, she gets a craving. She gives Steve those puppy dog eyes and makes him pull into the parking lot. So what does this pregant lady want? Uhh, Ben and Jerry's Brownie Nut Sundae and a can of Sardines. EWWWW! Talk about cravings! Steve buys the stuff and is grossed out the whole ride home.

Val had just came home from the After Dark and was hoping that she would get the chance to talk to Rick. Everything starts out smooth until, BAM!, the Lexi subject is brought up. Val tells him how they don't have time to talk anymore and he uses the excuse that he's busy at work. Val snaps back, "That's just the point Rick!! We need to make the time! What I don't like is that you have time to have dinner with Lexi, but you can't even talk to me." Val flips out and heads to her room, not forgetting to slam the door.

Janet woke up to the sweet sound of birds chirping. She turned over and noticed Steve wasn't in the bed. She sat up swinging her legs around to the floor. As she put her feet down she felt paper on the floor. It was the first issue of The Beat on the Street. She then noticed there was a trail from her bed all the way into the hall. One by one the papers were lined up. She smiled to herself. She had the best husband in the world. She followed the trail of papers which led, suprisingly, to the hall bathroom. She heard the sound of Steve's voice singing the rubber ducky song. Janet opened the door. She laughed to herself. Steve was in a tub filled with bubbles while Maddy was staying afloat in one of those baby bathtub holder things. He was playing with a rubber ducky while gently washing her hair. Steve explained to her how they were up early and already went to the store. They even sent out invited for a celebration party for the paper. Steve also informs her that he stocked up on Ben and Jerry's and sardines. She really did have the best husband in the world.

Lexi explains to Michael how she thinks she has Rick right where she wants him. Michael doesn't buy into it and Lexi says how they are always fighting. Will Lexi EVER succeed in getting Rick??

Donna was busy at Now Wear This finishing up some loose ends before leaving on her trip. Gina had been on the phone at least a dozen times already asking her about this and that. She was just finishing up when David came into the store carrying a huge bouquet of flowers. David, the sweetie that he is, told Donna how much he is going to miss her while she's in NY. He then took her on a suprise trip. Donna and David head out of town. They stop at a deserted beach and have a picnic in the sand. David has brought all of their favorites, compliments of Nat. They talk and enjoy their time together. David shows her his article in the first issue of The Beat on the Street. Donna opens the paper and reads David's article. She can't help but say: "David, I love you..." she leans over and starts kissing him aggressively. They fall back onto the blanket. They make love on the beach. The wind blows across them and blows the paper away into the ocean.

It was time for the party and Brandon had been sitting outside his old home since he arrived. He wasn't sure why, but he wasn't ready to knock on the door of his old home. Kelly pulled up just as he was about to head inside. He thought he was ready, but he was glad she was there to delay the process. The scene is so could, I have to show it all!: "Hi," she says as she approaches him. She takes a seat, on the porch, next to him. "Hey," he replies. "Where's Dylan?" "He had to finish some work up at the hotel so he'll be coming later." They sat in silence just watching the sky. "Doesn't it feel weird being out here? I mean you used to be on the other side. This was your home. You used to be the one throwing the party. How does that make you feel?" she wasn't trying to hurt him, just curiosity was creeping up. Brandon thinks to himself for a minute. Out of nowhere he comes up with, "I still love you, Kel. How does that make you feel?" Dylan pulls up and gets out of his car. "Ya know, to officially be at the party, ya kinda have to go inside," he tells them. "Come on beautiful," he kisses her. "There's a party waiting." Kelly is kind of reluctant. She feels awkward because of what Brandon just admitted. "Lets go in," Kelly says as she reaches for Brandon's arm to join the three of them. "Yeah, B, let's go," Dylan pushes. "I think I'll stay out here for a little more," Brandon answers. Kelly and Dylan went inside without him. Brandon sits outside looking at the sky, wondering if he never left, would he still be with Kelly. He sat outside for only a few minutes longer and remembered that he wanted to talk about his book with Dylan. It wouldn't be right to have it published with out his go ahead. He could do it, but he wouldn't. So he headed inside and changed his mood from sulking to networking. How good was that? I love that scene!

The party is in full swing and everyone is having a blast. Val is in the kitchen getting a drink while Lexi and Rick are sitting on the couch all cozy. Michael and Megan are watching from afar. Nat is talking to Steve while Kelly and Dylan are having a smooch fest.

Kel takes a break and interrupts Nat and Steve's conversation. She wants to know where Janet is. She hadn't made one appearance at the party yet.

Val was in the kitchen talking to Noah while getting herself a drink. Valerie is bummed out. She is tired of seeing Lexi all over Rick. Noah says she's overreacting. Val gets fed up and goes home.

Kelly finds Janet in her room crying. Janet denies to Kelly that anything is wrong so she goes back downstairs. In walks Steve with a Brownie Nut Fudge Sundae with Sardines in hand. He sits down on the bed and hands in to her. He asks her why she is still in her bathrobe. All she has to say is two words:"I'm fat," she says pouting. Aww. Steve cheers her up and explains to her she is pretty no matter what. Steve takes out a dress for her to put on and he heads downstairs. Mintues later, Janet comes down the stairs. "There she is. The most beautiful woman in the world," says Steve. Aww!

David is taking Donna and Gina to the airport. Traffic is busy and they are running behind. As they hurry to reach their terminal, he can't believe the amount of luggage that they are bringing. Gina can barely contain her excitement. They check their bags in and head to their terminal, with only minutes to spare. Gina and Donna check in and it is time to load. Donna and David kiss passionately goodbye. They keep kissing and saying goodbye. It's the first time they're apart since they got married. Reluctantly, David and Donna break apart. Donna gives David a quick kiss goodbye, "I love you!" she says and then is gone. David stays at the terminal window and watches their plane takes off. He waves sadly at the plane as it heads east.

The plane is preparing for take off. Donna sits by the window and stares out looking back at where she knows David is still watching. She waves at him...As the plane heads to New York, Gina chats about their plans, the people that she is going to introduce Donna to, and the clubs that they will go to. Donna gets more and more excited. She is glad she came. David will be fine without her for a few days. Absense does make the heart grow fonder, right?!? Inside Brandon saw the people having fun and talking. He came up beside Dylan and told him that he needed to talk with him later about a small career change.

Brandon got up on the living room steps and got everyone's attention. I'd like to say a few things. Just a few things about The Beat on the Street. And how far Steve Sanders has come because of it. When we started we were a tiny publication, The Beat reporting on serious issues. And then I left and Steve decided to turn it into a tabloid." The crowd laughed at the comment. "But by doing so, he increased his circulation. Almost fifty percent." The crowd applauded and Brandon continued. "After a good run with the tabloid, a big time publisher, from New York, offered to buy them out. After some hardships at home, he and Janet eventually decided to sell and embark on their next publishing adventure. Only this time they went with something a little more trendy and worthy of their skills. Not to mention having David Silver and I on their team." There was another good laugh from the crowd before he finished up. "That's why we're all here tonight. To celebrate Steve and Janet Sander's newest brain child, The Beat on the Street. Congratulations you two." As Brandon finished his words David presented Steve and Janet with a wrapped gift. When Janet finished opening the gift, it revealed a framed copy of the first issue of The Beat on the Street. Steve and Janet gave a hug to everyone within arms reach. Brandon stepped down from the living room steps and made his way through the people toward Dylan.

Rick is searching the house for Valerie. He asks everyone where she is and no one has seen her. And then he comes to Noah.... "Hey Noah, have you seen Valerie?" "Whats it matter to you, you have been with Lexi all night." "What is your problem?? I have a right to know where my own girlfriend is." "Yeah and maybe if you would pay attention to her instead of Lexi, you might have noticed she left and went home a few hours ago," Noah said and walked away. That was very interesting! Go Noah!!

Kelly sat on the couch talking to Megan, whom she had just met. Megan tells Kelly how she works at the flower shop and how she used to be a secretary for Michael. She points Micheal out to her cause Kelly doesn't know him. Kelly then explains what she does and says how swamped she is. Megan offered to work for Kelly and gave her her number. Megan excused herself and Kelly sat on the couch, observing all that went on around her. Lexi came over and sat down beside her. When Lexi introduced herself, Kelly replied, "I know who you are, Lexi, you're the man stealer." Fiesty!! Here's the rest of the conversation... "Ouch! Sounds like you aren't little miss sweet like everyone has said." "Sure I am, Lexi, just like you're the whore everyone has said you are." Lexi's mouth dropped open and Kelly got up. "That one was for Valerie," she said to herself, smiling. Lexi stared at her with an angry look crossing her face. "That girl I don't like."

In the kitchen, Brandon and Dylan sat at the island discussing Brandon's new career. Brandon explained to Dylan about his book. It was about Dylan. Well, actually,Dylan and Toni. " You see, when I was in Washington I had a lot of time to myself. So I wrote, a lot. When I was finished it ended up being a story based on you and Toni. I have someone that's interested, but I'm not going to publish if you don't want me to", Brandon told Dylan. Brandon also tells him how the names have been changed. He gives Dylan a copy of the book to think it over. They returned to the party. While Dylan started to think of Toni, Brandon's mind was on Kelly.

David finally got to the party. David looks around at all of his friends, laughing and enjoying themselves. They had a lot to celebrate...David was certianly proud to be a part of the first issue of The Beat on the Street. Usually David loved his crazy friends, they always made him feel happy. But tonight, something was missing. Of course, he knew exactly what it was. He didn't remember a time that he wasn't in love with Donna. She had been a part of his life, a part of who he was for so long. When they got married, he hadn't thought that he could love her anymore than he did, yet somehow his love grew stronger every day. It felt strange to be here without her. David was lost in his thoughts when Brandon came over. David is so caught up in his own mood that he does not notice that Brandon has not stopped looking at Kelly. Brandon tries to snap David out of his funk by getting him another beer.

Valerie was on the couch flipping the channels to find something good on TV, when Rick came through the back door. Valerie was on the couch flipping the channels to find something good on TV, when Rick came through the back door. Val gave Rick an ultimatum: "So...what, you are not talking to me now??" "Basically." "Valerie--" "No, Rick! We were suppose to spend time with each other tonight and all you did was hang out with Lexi. So now you have to choose! Either her or me!" "What's that suppose to mean?" "Quit your job or we are over," Val said angrily and left the apartment. You tell em' Val!
