Episode 1 - Prelude To A Storm

teleplay by Douglas Sloan; directed by Koichi Sakamoto (originally aired- February 15, 2003)

Alien: Blue Face

Brief Summary: Three lackluster ninja students are forced to become legendary Power Rangers after their ninja school is attacked by the villainous Lothor and his minions.

Personal opinion: ***1/2 (out of five)- A Fresh start, this is what Power Rangers has needed for several years. MMPR Productions did a great job with Power Rangers, but it is obvious that Village Roadshow can do just as good or better. I'm sure a bigger budget was given because it shines through on the SFX. For once, I think I prefer the Power Rangers footage over the Sentai. The only thing that lacked in this first episode is the beginning of an underlying plot in the show; if this is not achieved by Douglas Sloan (who is great at writing characters), we may be in the same boat as Wild Force. Other than that, great episode.

Notable Events: *First episode by Village Roadshow Prod. *First appearance of all of the characters (I won't bother to mention all them, just watch the show).

Episode 2 - There's No "I" In Team

teleplay by Ann Austen; directed by Koichi Sakamoto (originally aired- February 15, 2003)

Alien: Mad Magnet

Brief Summary: Shane is having trouble being a leader when he wants to take things into his own hands. He learns a valuable lesson about teamwork as he tries to take on the villains by himself.

Personal opinion: *** (out of five)- Not as great as episode one, but it is still a pretty entertaining episode. Characters are developed more, but from what I can see, I think Ninja Storm is going to be full of stand-alone episodes. Hopefully the story editors will change this around, but in the meantime it feels like I'm reliving last year's "Click, Click, Zoom". I'm also not liking Marah and Kapri (very Nadira-esque), but I'm still optimistic.

Notable Events: *First appearance of Storm Power Megazord *First appearance of Power Sphere #1 *First appearance of Thunder Rangers

Episode 3 - Beauty and the Beach

teleplay by Mark Hoffmeier; directed by Koichi Sakamoto (originally aired- February 22, 2003)

Alien: Copybot

Brief Summary: Tori is angered after Dustin and Shane fail to recognize her femininity. Marah and Kapri trap her in a camera and create a clone of her, who insists the guys to take her to the Ninja Ops. Tori masters her powers of water to escape and destroy the clone.

Personal opinion: *** (out of five)- This episode rings with familiarites of Might Morphin. The trapping of Tori in the camera was strongly remeniscient of Kim in a monster's jar. I thought the clone was pretty funny especially when she was screaming at the construction workers. The SFX with Tori harnessing the water and the clone turning into water was pretty cool.

Notable Events: *First spoken words of Thunder Rangers *First appearance of the Storm Megazord Lightning Mode.

Episode 4 - Looming Thunder

teleplay by Jackie Marachand; directed by Charlie Haskell (originally aired- March 1, 2003)

Alien: Terramole

Brief Summary: Dustin meets some new motorcross friends tearing up the track in a race. After Dustin has been spending an overabundance of time with them therefore missing his duties, Shane hears them talking of how Dustin is a goof. Reunited the Rangers defeat the drilling Terramole with a new Power Sphere, the Ram Hammer.

Personal opinion: **** (out of five)- This is probably my favorite episode of Ninja Storm yet; it had great music, writing, acting, directing, and plot. Jackie Marchand returns in stand-out form writing this somewhat darker episode than we have seen in NS yet and Charlie Haskell brings a fresh and unique view from the camera. The Tsunami Cycle intro was fantastic as they actually did something with them instead of ride around and blast people, especially with Dustins awesome kick while his cycle was in midair. The acting was also exceptional so that the overdone characters were calmed down to a believable fashion. You could also see divisions begin to form between the villains. Overall great episode.

Notable Events: *First appearance of Blake and Hunter *First appearance of Tsunami Cycles *First appearance of Power Sphere #2

Episode 5 - Thunder Strangers, pt. 1

teleplay by Ann Austen; directed by Charlie Haskell (originally aired- March 8, 2003)

Alien: NA (Thunder Rangers)

Brief Summary: The Thunder Rangers arrive to take on the Wind Rangers. Armed with their own Tsunami Cycles, Zords, and a stolen Power Sphere, they put the Wind Rangers down for the count.

Personal opinion: *** (out of five)- Not as good as 'Looming Thunder' and kind of plotless, but not too shabby. I do prefer Jackie Marchand's writing over Ann Austen's, but the one liners were pretty funny and not too overdone. I like that they haven't dropped the subplot where Hunter and Blake take Dustin's bookbag with the backup disk, therefore getting their own Tsunami Cycles. The Zord fight was awesome, I think even better than the fight in 'Predazord Awaken' last year. Hopefully parts two and three will pick up the pace storywise.

Notable Events: *First time the Rangers meet *First appearance of Thunder Zords *First appearance of Power Sphere #4

Episode 6 - Thunder Strangers, pt. 2

teleplay by Ann Austen; directed by Charlie Haskell (originally aired- March 15, 2003)

Alien: Amphibidor

Brief Summary: When Blake is hurt after saving Tori from Amphibidor, Tori takes him to the waterfall entrance to Ninja Ops. Cam helps him out, but Blake secretly finds out the location of the base from this. Blake and Hunter get even with the Wind Rangers for saving Blake by destroying Amphibidor, but when the Wind Rangers return to the base, the Thunders reveal their identities and steal Sensei.

Personal opinion: ***1/2 (out of five)- Loved the MMPR reference from Amphibidor: "Looks like its not morphing time for you!" This episode kind of reminded me of MMPR season 3's finale with Hydro Hog stealing the water from the lake.

Notable Events: *Thunder Rangers reveal themselves *Sensei stolen

Episode 7 - Thunder Strangers, pt. 3

teleplay by Douglas Sloan; directed by Andrew Merrifield (originally aired- March 22, 2003)

Alien: Zurgane's robot

Brief Summary: The Thunder Rangers attempt to keep the stolen Sensei and attain a gem that will crack his defensive shield. The Wind Rangers go after them and discover that the motive behind the Thunders' actions is that they think Sensei killed their parents. Before the Thunders break Sensei's shield, the Trejo's parents show up and tell them that it was in fact Lothor who was the one who cut their lives short.

Personal opinion: **1/2 (out of five)- The show started off great, but ended up terrible to me. The Thunders' backstory was not lead up to and finally revealed in the second half of this episode. Instead of using their motivation to the character's advantage, the writers quickly destroy it by taking an easy out and having the deceased Mr. and Mrs. Trejo show up to dispell the rumors. It almost seemed like a shallow excuse for making the Rangers turn "good". Three episodes of build up to this poor excuse for a back story. Whats even worse is that the Wind Rangers are cracking jokes the entire time! I do have to credit the stuntmen and directors again, though, for another wonderful job doing what the Rangers do best - kicking bad guy butt.

Notable Events: *Backstory of Trejos revealed *Sensei freed *First appearance of Power Spheres 5 and 6

Episode 8 - Nowhere To Grow

teleplay by Steve Slavkin; directed by Andrew Merrifield (originally aired- March 29, 2003)

Alien: Florabundacus

Brief Summary: The evil Florabundacus plants her seeds that can grow to enormous sizes to destroy the city. Dustin and Tori get trapped, and Cam tries to help out the Rangers. But Sensei reveals to Cam a promise he made to Cam's mother long ago, that he would never be put in harm's way. Shane receives a powered up attack for his Ninja Sword and is able to destory these weeds of destruction.

Personal opinion: **1/2 (out of five)- This episode was not that engaging and only was thrilling in any way when dealing with Cam. I think Cam is a great character and should have some more stories focused on him. Jason Chan is a capable actor who portrays both sides of Cam well, the "disciplined" side and the "want to fight" side. I think this was just a filler episode after the Thunder Saga.

Notable Events: *First appearance of powered up Ninja Sword mode

Episode 9 - Return of Thunder, pt. 1

teleplay by Douglas Sloan; directed by Wayne Rose (originally aired- April 12, 2003)

Alien: Toxipod

Brief Summary: The Thunder Rangers are tricked by Choobo into going onto Lothor's ship. Once there they are put under a spell to fight against the Wind Rangers. When the now "general" Choobo sends a snail monster to fight the heroes, the Thunders show up and join in the fight. The Ranger's destroy the monster with the Megazord and the Thunder Megazord begins to battle. Suddenly a repercussion from the monster's destruction sends the five Rangers to distant parts across the planet.

Personal opinion: **1/2 (out of five)- Nothing eventful happened. Ole' Sloan uses the tried and true (and often overused) spell format to get the Thunder Rangers back to the dark side. The downfall to this approach is that any character development gained in the next three episodes will be thrown away because the Thunders are under a spell. Hopefully part 2 will be better.

Notable Events: *Thunder Rangers put under spell *Choobo becomes General

Episode 10 - Return of Thunder, pt. 2

teleplay by Douglas Sloan; directed by Wayne Rose (originally aired- April 19, 2003)

Alien: Super Toxipod

Brief Summary:

Personal opinion: *** (out of five)- Part two was better than its predecessor, but still has a ways to go. The action was fantastic, as usual, and thankfully one Thunder Ranger falls from the spell. Hopefully the trend will continue with an even better part three!

Notable Events: *Blake falls from the spell

Episode 11 - Return of Thunder, pt. 3

teleplay by Douglas Sloan and Ann Austen; directed by Wayne Rose (originally aired- April 26, 2003)

Alien: Super Toxipod

Brief Summary:

Personal opinion: ***1/2 (out of five)- Part three was even better than part two. The story was pretty good, and the directing by Wayne Rose made the episode great. There were specific scenes that were great, especially the one where Blake is trying to convince Hunter while morphed. I liked the way they cut to a scene of the two unmorphed, showing the emotions that can't be expressed only vocally. The flashback was good, and even though it wasn't directed by Rose, the shot of the Megazords leaving the island was great.

Notable Events: *

Episode 12 - Return of Thunder, pt. 4

teleplay by Douglas Sloan and Ann Austen; directed by Charlie Haskell(originally aired- May 3, 2003)

Alien: Choobo

Brief Summary:

Personal opinion: **1/2 (out of five)- This episode could have stood alone and only served as an introduction to the Thunderstorm Megazord. Choobo is gone as a baddie (thankfully, although we might see a return since he isn't officially dead), and the Thunder Rangers join the Wind gang. Thats about all that happened.

Notable Events: *Choobo dies (well, sorta) *First appearance of Mini Zord *First appearance of Thunderstorm Megazord *Thunder Rangers join the Wind Rangers
