- Brian
Griese – Was the highest rated quarterback in the league last
year; when he was healthy. Durability
is a question mark. Good
mobility, decent arm strength, but one of the smartest players in the
league. Established running
game will only open up the offense even more this year.
- Freddie
Jones – The Chargers tight end was ranked third overall in tight
ends with 766 hundred yards. With
a legitimate quarterback in Flutie, production will increase.
Will be a go-to guy in the red zone this year.
- Joe
Horn – His breakout year in 2000 was no fluke, as his numbers will
increase this year. Quarterback
situation in New Orleans shouldn’t affect him since they both can throw
the ball. He is very aggressive
going for the ball, plays in a weak defensive division (NFC West), and
isn’t even thirty yet.
- Ahman
Green – Stepped in last year for the injured Dorsey Levens and
never looked back. Has
tremendous vision and acceleration, and will be asked to catch the ball more
this year. Expect 1,000 yards
and close to 70 receptions out of the backfield with a total of 10
touchdowns. Needs to hold on to
the ball more.
- Rich
Gannon – Some “experts” don’t even rank him within the top
ten quarterbacks. Age is a
factor, but can still create good things as well as anybody. Scored a total of over 30 touchdowns last year and will
put up similar numbers again. Offensive
line is good and receiving corps is fantastic.
- Warrick
Dunn – Great open field runner as well as receiver out of the
backfield. Rushed for 1,100
yards last year and should do it again.
Improved passing game opens him up some more.
Size is a factor but Dungy has learned how to use him effectively.
7.
Rod Smith – Smith is sometimes forgotten with the big
name receiver, but he has and will continue to put up huge numbers.
Caught 100 balls for over 1,600 yards last year.
That will be hard to repeat, but 1,400 yards and 12 touchdowns are
obtainable. Is very fast with good
hands and has a great supporting cast.
- Torry
Holt – Isaac Bruce gets a lot of the press, but Holt is a key to
the Rams offense. Caught 80
balls for over 1,600 yards and will do the same thing again this year,
possibly scoring more touchdowns since he proved he can play.
No need to mention his supporting cast either, the best in the
league.
