  1. Lamar Smith – Had a breakout year last year, and just a couple years of consistent numbers away from becoming a star.  His nearly 1,200 yards last year were a career high and should be able to put similar numbers up for the Dolphins.  Look for 10-13 touchdowns this year for Smith.
  2. Jeff Garcia – The Niners' quarterback had a breakout year last year throwing for            over 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns. His size could hurt him, and even though he doesn’t have the strongest arm in the league, he is still effective.  Garcia needs his line to stay healthy and use his mobility at times.
  3. Fred Taylor – Could easily be on the superstar list, but needs to prove again that he can stay healthy.  When healthy, Taylor is arguably the best back in the league.  Like many people, needs his offensive line to play well, and will help open up the Jaguar passing game.  1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns easily if healthy.
  4. Tim Couch – Has one of the strongest arms in the league.  New coach and system is a question mark, but has the possibility to put up huge numbers.  Acquisitions to the offensive line will help, and an established running game would increase numbers as well.  A gamble early, but big time potential.
  5. Jamal Lewis – Huge rookie year should be followed by a bigger sophomore year.  With a concentrated effort by the Ravens to improve the offense, Lewis should benefit.  Great size, speed, and agility.  Schedule helps him as he plays a lot of games against teams with poor defenses.
  6. Tony Banks – Which quarterback will we see this year?  In Dallas, he should be able to open up the offense and air it out.  Didn’t fit in well with the Ravens style of football.  Has nice corps of starting receivers.  Definitely a gamble, but could restart his career.
  7. Peter Warrick – A player with his athletic ability has to have a better year than he did in his rookie year.  The addition of Jon Kitna as the likely starter will help him, as will just simply having a year under his belt.  Came on late in the year making a few sensational grabs.  Look for close to 70 receptions and seven or eight touchdowns.
  8. LaDainian Tomlinson – Obviously unproven and a question mark, but will be featured in San Diego.  Having Flutie as his quarterback will be good for him.  Is very quick and explosive.  Size is a concern but his instincts, as a runner should help him establish himself.  Late fifth or sixth round pick at the earliest.
