 Y - 02 - KayNow in her third month as Passions' third Kay Bennett, 20-year-old daytime newcomer Deanna Wright has conquered her initial jitters over succeeding Taylor Anne Mountz and Gina Marie May as Harmony's most obsessive Gen X-er. "I was unsure about coming in and trying to take someone's place," she admits. "Then I realized that there was no way I could replace Taylor or Gina or do [the role] the way that they did. I'm trying to make Kay my own," she smiles. Wright chatted with Digest Online about life on the set and her goals for her new alter ego. Making New Friends "Molly (Charity) was really there for me when I first started. She gave me a hug and said, 'Congratulations, I'm glad you're here.' And Jesse (Miguel) showed me around L.A. and took me to a couple of movies and to the Beverly Center, where I'd never been." But Keeping The Old "I knew Eva Tamargo Lemus (Pilar) from when we both lived in Miami. The first day that I was on set, Eva was walking around telling everybody, 'This is my friend. You guys be nice to her because I'm gonna take care of her and if I find out anybody's done anything mean, you have to answer to me!' It was hilarious." Deanna Vs. Kay "Like Kay, I'm very, very determined to get what I want, but I won't go to any lengths to do it! And I have alot of morals, which I don't feel Kay does. Growing up, I was cast more in the Charity role than the Kay role." The Devils' Advocate "I want to bring an insecurity to her character. Previously, Kay has just been manipulative and really mean. I know that she's a character that everyone loves to hate ... but they need to feel bad about hating her [laughs]!" If She Wrote The Soaps... "I would have Kay dump Reese for Miguel and Jessica (try) to make Reese feel better. She'd change his hair and the way he dressed and make him get contacts. She would make him, like, a total hottie! Kay would try to get him back, but he wouldn't want anything to do with her because she hurt him so badly. Kay would get a taste of her own medicine, and Jessica would have the perfect opportunity to be mean to Kay—the way Kay's always mean to her!" From Soap Opera Digest Magazine! |
