Surrounded by the lush tropical paradise the unexpected can happen.

Chapter 1 
Mimi sighed heavily as she stood next to Phillip, who was lost in his own 
little word that 

was no doubt filled with thoughts of the one and only Chloe. 

Mimi gently fingered a crimson blossom as she scanned the water in front of 
them and 

sighed again to try and get Phillip's attention. 

"Did you want something Meems?" he quietly asked her. 

"Umm..no not really, I just wanted to see what you were up to, seeing as 
everyone else 

has gone off on their separate ways." 

Phillip quickly pushed all of his thoughts of Chloe out of his mind and 
focused on the 

short mousy girl in front of him. 

His attention was diverted to a nearby lagoon where he heard splashing water. 

"Meems what do you spose is out there?" 

"I have no clue, but I do see something in the water" 

"I think that it's maybe the Black Lagoon Monster" he said as he crept up 
behind her 

and grabbed her shoulders making her recoil back and let out a shriek. 

Mimi turned and scowled at Phillip with her hands on her hips. 

"Phil you are such a dork. You scared me half to death!" 

Off in the distance they heard voices and turned to see Shawn and Belle 
emerge from the 

trees. 

"Hey Shawn, hey Belle, so are we ready to go on our treasure hunt tomorrow?" 

Confusion clouded Phillip's face as he looked from Shawn, Belle, and then to 
Mimi. 

"Treasure hunt? What kind of adventure did you think up Brady?" 

Shawn cautiously looked around before he told Phillip all about his 
grandmothers ruby. 

"Well you guys can count me on in this lil adventure! I am all for it, it 
will help me keep 

my mind off of other things." 

With the mention of other things Phillip's face became saddened but he 
quickly brushed it 

off and smirked at Mimi who was rolling her eyes at him. 

Little did the foursome know that their conversation was being listened to by 
a tall dark 

figure in the foliage.
