The Rutles are a Legend. A Living Legend. A Living Legend that will Live long after lots of other Living Legends have died.

Eric Idle's classic spoof of the Rutles remains both Eric and Neil Innes' most treasured career highlights. Combining the cream of British actors in the form of Michael Palin, Terence Baylor (who appeared in many parts in Python's Life of Brian), Frank William (famed as the Vicar in Dad's Army), and stalwart BBC comedian Barry Cryer, with fine Amercian-Beatlemaniac performances from the likes of Bill Murray, John Belushi, and Dan Akroyd from the original Saturday Night Live, The Rutles - All You Need is Cash became most a milestone in comedy and a millstone in music.

The Rutles - All You Need is Cash is a mockumentary on the Pre-Fab Four, Dirk McQuickly (Eric Idle), Ron Nasty (Neil Innes), Stig O'Hara (Rikki Fataar), and Barry Wom (John Halsey). It tells of their humble beginnings, playing The Cavern, Rutland, and the Reeperbahn, Hamburg, and of their recruitment by their manager, "Leggy" Mountbatten (Terence Baylor). It includes clips of their most treasured moments - the Royal Command performance (dedicated to Barry's Mum), their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show, viewed by 73 Million people, thier brilliant financial acumen at Che Stadium, the "Bigger than God" outrage, the tea-drinking scandal, Sgnt Rutter's Only Darts Club Band, the infamous Bognor table-tapping weekend, the creation and destruction of Rutle Corps, and the final splitting up of the Rutles . The songs were written by Neil Innes, who succeeded in creating a sound utterly like the Beatles, but with enough difference to make the music more than just satire. And, naturally, the cast included a certain George Harrison, who thought he could help in some one. Eric Idle felt sorry for him and gave him a bit-part as an interviewer.
