"Don't Stand So Close to Me"
3.10: When Bailey hears from the Chief that Cristina and Burke won't be punished because legally and technically, they didn't do anything wrong (nobody died or got hurt, etc.), she is PISSED.  She definitely thinks there should be consequences for them.  The Chief tells Derek and Burke to start preparing for surgery to fix Burke's tremor, and Burke petulantly refuses to allow Derek to perform surgery on him. Big baby.  Mr. O'Malley and George discuss what would happen if Dad died.  Callie comes to see how Dad is doing, and George walks out without saying a word to her.  George, Alex, and Izzie all shun Cristina, and when Meredith tries to ask Cristina how she's doing, she says that she and Burke are existing in silence, and then she roughly disengages herself from the conversation.  The interns are surprised and grumbly to find that Bailey chooses Cristina to be the intern on George's Dad's heart surgery, but when they see that Bailey is allowing them to work on the separation surgery of adult conjoined twins, they see why Bailey chose Cristina for Dad's surgery.  Sadly for Izzie, she still can only watch.  Sloan has to work on the twins too, so he chooses Izzie for his intern and tries to make her fetch coffee for him, and she shuts him down.  "I don't do coffee," she declares evenly and hands his money back to him.  He is unpleasantly surprised.  Derek is unsure of doing the risky separation procedure on the twins because the whole Burke thing has really shaken his confidence.  Addison enlists Meredith's help with the surgery on Meredith's half-sister Molly's newborn baby who might die.  Molly doesn't know who Meredith is, and Meredith is not excited to be working this closely with the family her father ran off and had without her and her mother.  George rudely butts in on Dr. Hahn and Cristina as they prepare for Dad's surgery.  He starts exploding at everyone, and Bailey finally has to yell at him and ban him from his own father's surgery.  I hate that George is being a turd right now.  First Izzie, now this.  The Chief realizes that Burke is looking for other surgeons to do the surgery, and he finally yells about wanting to retire, and wanting Burke to take his place.  Derek is the best, he says.  "I'm tired of you men acting like boys."  Me too, Chief.  Me too.  Derek gets increasingly nervous about the twin surgery.  At lunch, Alex, Izzie and George all get on Cristina's case because she's not being punished (Izzie especially doesn't understand why there are no consequences for Cristina's wrong actions when Izzie got consequences out the wazoo for hers).  Meredith tells them to cut it out, and Cristina wearily tells Meredith to stop defending her.  George and Callie run into each other again in Dad's room, and George is about to leave, but Dad tells George to stay and work out whatever it is with Callie.  "You're angry, George."  George seems to be mad at everyone, but Dad says that George is really mad at him for getting himself into this medical situation by not living like he should.  George's ass brother's come in, and George screams at them for calling him Georgie, and Dad's heart starts going too fast.  They get it under control, but it's still not good.  Sloan tries once again to get Izzie to do his coffee-related bidding, and she finally gives in, but she tells him that she won't respect him until he does something worth respecting.  Bailey sees the trouble Derek is having, and she relates it to her own experience with losing confidence after Denny, and she does her best to help him.  The begin the risky surgery, and Sloan, in an uncharacteristically awesome move, gets Izzie into the OR to observe more closely from there instead of from the observation room above.  Good for you, Sloan.  For once.  The surgery is successful, and both twins are okay.  George tries to watch his dad's surgery from outside, but he can't look, so Burke helps him by telling him everything that's happening.  It was nice.  Molly's baby will be okay after all, and Meredith finally tells the woman her father married that they are not her family and that she doesn't want to be family with them.  I was kinda sad about that because I think Meredith could use all the family she can get, but at least Mare Winningham extended an open invitation for Meredith to be family if she ever changes her mind.  Something goes wrong with Dad's surgery, but Cristina steps up and does a complicated procedure that fixes the problem and makes things okay again.  When it's over, George thanks Dr. Burke.  And it was a nice, sincere, not bitter thank you.  Bailey still can't get over the fact that there will be no punishment for Burke and Cristina, and in talking to the Chief about this, it finally comes out that Bailey feels responsible for Izzie and Cristina's mistakes and blames herself for them.  The Chief tells Bailey that in coming and telling him the truth, Cristina showed a lot of strength.  He says she "raises the interns like children, and some of them turn out exactly like you, Dr. Bailey."  It was a really nice moment.  In the locker room at the end of the day, Izzie, Alex, and George are still shunning Cristina, and Meredith yells at them to let her off the hook.  She points out all the stupid or wrong things they've all done and forgiven each other for, so why should this be any different?  Abashed, Izzie and Alex say it's okay and essentially forgive Cristina.  Turd!George walks out without a word.  "Why can't you mind your own business?" asks a tired Cristina.  Because "you're my sister, you're my family, you're all I've got," replies Meredith.  On the way out, they see Burke and Derek get into the elevator to go up and start working out surgery details.  Cristina hesitates for a few moments before getting into the elevator with them in what could be the first step to repairing her relationship with Burke.  Meredith goes to see Ellis, her crazy mother, and in an awkward and surprising move, hugs her.  It's that hug that finally allows Ellis to recognize her own daughter.  Poignant, really.  This was a good episode.  George is still being a little jerk, but at least he wasn't directing it at Izzie this time.  In fact, their only interaction during the episode was the shared shunning of Cristina.  WHAT?  No new episodes until January?!

"From a Whisper to a Scream"
3.09: Wow.  What a long, cranky episode.  I feel like everyone was in a bad mood.  It starts off with Cristina narrating about secrets, keeping them, and that not all secrets can be kept.  We see flashes of Burke and Cristina having sex, and then Cristina in OR scrubs, covered in blood.  Then we rewind to what happened to lead up to Cristina being covered in blood.  Meredith and Derek are in Meredith's room on her bed, and he's pestering her about sex again.  Cristina comes barging in and tells Derek to get out, she needs to talk to Meredith.  She's all sweaty, and tells Meredith that she jogged there.  "You don't jog.  We don't jog," says Meredith with mild suspicion, as though she knows just from the jogging that something is very wrong.  Cristina tries to tell Meredith what she and Burke did, starting with a roundabout metaphor of Meredith and Derek robbing a bank, but she just can't get the truth out.  She leaves and awkwardly runs into George on the way out.  Cristina and Burke talk, and she's getting really worried.  He says he's fine, there haven't been any tremors for a week.  She's starting to crack, and he keeps assuring her that he's fine and "we're a team."  Bailey assigns Izzie to George's father, but only to "breathe and watch" since she's still on probation.  An elderly man with a spinal condition that caused his feet to be numb accidentally crashed a car into a busy fish market, bringing a lot of injured people to the hospital.  One woman has cuts all over her, and it was really funny when she woozily looked up at Sloan and Alex and said, "the doctors are really hot...they are, right?  It's not just because I'm wearing a plate glass window?"  Addison says yes, they are hot.  The woman is pregnant too, so that's why Addison is there.  Izzie meets George's parents, and Mom is a little skittish about the idea of George living with women.  George's dad was so funny, "that's the way they do things now."  Then Mom carefully asks Izzie if there's anything sexual between her and George, and poor George is horrified.  Izzie says no, no, there's nothing, and Mom seems satisfied for a moment.  After a minute, she launches back in with "so there's nothing sexual?  Not even a little bit?  I just want Georgie to be happy."  Izzie just smiles, half with amusement and have with discomfort and says, "Okay..."  Funny, hilarious scene.  I don't care if Izzie said there's nothing sexual because there isn't right now.  That can certainly change in the future, and as long as someone keeps reminding Izzie and George of the possibility, I'm happy as a clam.  Izzie's reaction to Mom was awesome.  Hee!  Callie is still trying to help George with his father, and he's all, "why do you care?" "Because I care about you." "Oh, so that's why you slept with Mark Sloan." And he walks off.  So Callie knows that George knows, and she thinks that Meredith told him.  Derek is the numb feet guy's surgeon, and Cristina was supposed to be helping him, but was scattered and absent.  Derek asks Meredith what's wrong with Cristina because he knows something is up, and Meredith can't exactly say.  Since George has asked for another surgeon, Dr. Hahn, to do his father's heart surgery, Cristina freaks out and thinks the Chief knows.  Burke says that if the Chief confronts him about it, he'll tell him the truth, and that doesn't sit well with Cristina.  George's mom is obsessed with George's love life, and asks Izzie all kinds of questions, like why George and Callie broke up.  Izzie says she doesn't know why, and starts talking about the odd twists in George's recent relationships, mentioning the George and Meredith thing--which Mom and Dad didn't know about.  Oops.  Then his parents ask about Burke and why Dad isn't getting Burke, and Izzie honestly says that she thinks Burke is the best, and doesn't know the reason why George asked for Dr. Hahn instead.  Hmm.  In the locker room, Izzie and Meredith wonder why George and Cristina are acting so weird, when Callie comes bursting in and shoves Meredith up against a wall, angrily demanding to know why she would tell George about Sloan when Callie took the fall for her with the whole panties on the bulletin board thing.  Meredith is totally confused (because of course she didn't tell George; Alex intuited the truth and told George), but Callie is trying to kick her ass.  Izzie literally has to get between them and cover Meredith with her body ("she's very little and you're hurting her!").  Meredith can finally explain that Callie never told Meredith it was Sloan she slept with; she only said "another guy," so Meredith couldn't have told George.  Callie backs off.  Izzie and George talk, and George talks about how crazy his mother is ("has she offered to iron your scrubs yet?").  Izzie wonders why Dr. Hahn will do the surgery instead of Dr. Burke, and George tells Cristina, who is walking by, to tell Izzie why Dr. Burke isn't doing it.  She says nothing and walks away.  Izzie tries to tell George that Burke is ready, he's fine (because she has no idea he's not), and George bluntly tells her to "stay out of this.  This is none of your business.  Your job is to watch, remember?" leaving Izzie shocked and hurt.  I hate when George is mean to Izzie!  So sad. :(  The Chief doesn't know the truth, but in fact he wants Burke to be Chief of Surgery when he retires.  Cristina wants him to do it, but Burke now doesn't know if he can live with it.  He suddenly gets angry and blames Cristina for the entire cover-up, the whole thing, saying something very hurtful about her "emotional shortcomings."  Ouch.  When George finds out from his parents that Izzie told them things about his love life, he is surprised.  Then his parents tell him that they are going with Dr. Burke after all, and George explodes at Izzie because he thinks what she said to them convinced them.  "I told you to stay out of this."  Izzie is completely taken aback at the attack, and George angrily tells her to get out.  Dad can't believe George would talk like that to anyone, and George coldly says, "Did Dr. Stephens tell you she's on probation?  Because the last time she was allowed to interact with patients someone died."  George, why?  WHY?  Izzie is deeply wounded and quiet when she leaves.  Oh, my aching heart.  Derek starts to worry about Burke, but Burke takes the surgery of the young pregnant woman who has a shard of glass in her heart, and Derek takes the numb feet guy.  Callie tries to talk to George about Sloan, and he shuts her down, saying he can't do this now.  The surgery on the glass in heart girl goes fine even though Burke won't let Cristina help him.  The numb feet guy crashes and Meredith comes running to get Burke to help, even though the glass heart girl is still on bypass.  Cristina really freaks out and tries to follow Burke to the other OR, knowing how risky it is for him to be on his own.  He orders her back though, and Meredith asks Cristina if she thinks Burke can't operate without her, and when Cristina can't answer her, the truth dawns on Meredith. "Oh my god.  Burke can't operate without you."  Cristina hisses at Meredith to shut her mouth, and goes back to the glass heart girl.  Burke takes a long time with the other guy, and Cristina has to take the girl off bypass without him, and it seems to go okay.  Burke comes back, having not screwed up with feet guy, and they're gonna close glass heart girl up when Burke notices something amiss.  His hand is shaking, and Cristina knows it.  The girl's heart blows a stitch and squirts blood all over Cristina.  Burke gets Bailey to help him instead and orders Cristina out.  And now we're back where the episode started.  Burke is gonna go talk to the Chief, and I don't know if he was going to tell the truth or what, but Cristina beat him to it.  She told the Chief the truth before Burke even got there.  We don't see what the Chief says to the angry and betrayed Burke, but then he's in the elevator with Derek, who also knows.  "I would have helped you if you told me [you were having problems with your hand]," says Derek. "I thought you were my friend." "I thought you were my surgeon," says the bitter Burke.  Yes, yes, Burke.  Blame everyone but yourself for your bad judgement and grossly unethical conduct.  Blame Cristina, blame Derek, but don't blame Preston Burke.  Right.  Narrator!Cristina talks about betrayal.  Cristina talks to Meredith about how it was both her and Burke's idea to do it.  She realizes that she can't go home.  Dr. Hahn will operate on George's dad.  Izzie comes home to George sitting on the couch.  It's quiet and tense, and then George talks about being scared for his dad, and saying that Izzie of all people should understand being scared for someone you love who is sick.  Izzie cuts him off immediately in a quiet, calm voice that hurts Ellen: "No, you do not get to bring up Denny to me ever again." George nods, knowing he's been an ass and has hurt her deeply. "Don't try to apologize.  Not now," she says, going to sit on the couch with him. "Maybe tomorrow."  Derek is being an ass and getting mad at Meredith for not telling him about Burke and Cristina, or at least her suspicions, sooner.  Meredith is all, you don't get to be mad at me for not saying anything to you.  You were his surgeon, so how did you not know?  And besides, Cristina "was there when you weren't."  Derek backs down, and then I think it's implied that they have sex.  Gag.  Cristina arrives home at the apartment, and Burke is in the bedroom, packing.  She stands there in the doorway, and he silently shuts it on her.  I am exhausted from that episode.  So much tension and anger and lashing out.  I can't believe George would take out his anger and frustration and fear because of Cristina and Burke on Izzie, his best friend who did nothing to deserve it.  I'm shocked at his behavior.

    "Staring at the Sun"
3.08: So I guess Meredith and Derek are together now, but trying out this new thing where they don't have sex yet but they take baths together?  O-kay.  Meredith declares that now she is "bright and shiny" Meredith instead of "dark and twisty."  I liked "dark and twisty" better, thanks.  The interns tell her that George's dad is in the hospital for a broken clavicle, and they're running other tests on him.  Izzie, still on probation, is ordered by Bailey to shadow Alex for the day.  Interesting.  Derek and Addison tentatively decided to peacefully coexist, what with the new "bright and shiny" Derek and all.  George's brothers are there with Dad, and they're jerks who don't respect George or listen to him.  They need to do an endoscopy on Dad, and George can't do it because he's a family member.  Sloan makes a stupid comment about Izzie being a "hot blonde" and makes Alex and Izzie pick up his dry-cleaning and such.  A little girl comes in in bad shape because the nanny accidentally backed over her with the family SUV (while the mother was supposed to be watching her but wasn't).  Bailey lays the smackdown on the parents who were fighting while their daughter is seriously injured.  That's why I love Bailey.  She takes no crap.  George gets to choose the intern to work on his father's endoscopy, and he chooses Cristina.  Addison chews Sloan out for treating his interns like slaves.  Thank you, Addison.  George senses that something is wrong with Burke and Cristina, and he talks to Burke.  Burke assures George that everything is fine, but George is still uneasy.  Callie is spending time with George's jerkoff brothers, and he tells her he doesn't want her to help.  "You broke up with me, remember?"  Alex and Izzie help a patient named Frank whose pec implants had complications.  Frank talks in the third person all the time.  Then there is this really sad moment where Cristina and George have to tell Dad what she found with the endoscopy.  His brother's aren't listening to him, and George can't say the words.  Cristina steps in and says very frankly that they found stage 3 metastatic cancer in Dad's esophagus and stomach.  Poor George!  Meredith finds Izzie sitting with George in the stairwell.  Honestly, it makes me so happy to know that Izzie is George's best friend in the whole world, and she's the first one to sit with him in the stairwell.  It's perfectly obvious that Izzie cares very much about George.  It's written all over her face in that stairwell.  CUTE.  Meredith sits with them too, and George tells them that Callie slept with Sloan.  He talks about his brothers, too.  A sad moment for George. :(  Frank tells Alex that he can "sense the vibe" between Alex and Izzie, and I guess Alex gets ideas.  Dad tells Cristina that George said she was the best intern in the hospital, and Cristina is flattered.  To make matters worse, it turns out that there is serious damage to Dad's heart, and they have to fix his heart before he'll be strong enough for cancer surgery.  George wants Burke to do it.  Uh oh.  "What's wrong with Burke's hand?" George asks Cristina.  She freezes him out and denies that anything is wrong.  But George tells her that he knows Burke is hiding something and she is helping him.  Alex makes a "grand gesture" and lets Izzie break the rules of her probation and do a minor procedure on Frank.  Addison, Callie, and Bailey talk about having kids and careers, and keeping wedding rings after divorce.  Callie suddenly decides she's not ready to move on from George.  Sigh.  Oh well.  Izzie thanks Alex for what he did, and he unexpectedly kisses her.  She is caught off guard, and eventually pulls away and says she can't.  Poor Izzie.  Still grieving for Denny.  Duh, Alex.  Callie comes to George's aid and explains Dad's condition in a way that George's jerk brothers will understand, and they finally get it.  George is emotional, and I think grateful.  Cristina later tells Dad that George is the best.  He's a good doctor, and a good person.  He's the best.  George's dad is so proud.  Made me misty. :( Alex and Izzie talk, and she didn't know he still felt that way about her.  Neither did he.  She basically says she can't do it, and he's cool with that.  Sigh of relief from Ellen.  Dodged that bullet for now...  Addison throws her wedding rings into the ocean, Cristina tells Burke that George knows, and Derek and Meredith are back in the tub again.  So, the very cute and sad thing with Izzie and George in the stairwell was the best part.  I hope George's dad lives.  And I hope Addison can finally get over Derek and the divorce and be happy.  I want her to be happy.

11/9/06
    "Where the Boys Are"
3.07: All the boys except for McSteamy are going on a manly camping trip.  Izzie is "mothering" George before he leaves, telling him not to forget to dress warmly and stuff.  Adorable, really.  George insists that he is not five and leaves.  Bailey knows that Cristina took her off Burke's surgery.  Meredith gets stuck with McSteamy, and Izzie gets stuck with a perky, too-personal peer counselor that they all loathe.  Sloan is supposed to so sexual reassignment surgery to remove Donna's penis, and Meredith is supposed to assist, but it turns out that the female hormones Donna has been taking are actually feeding a breast cancer.  They urge her not to have the surgery and stop the hormones to save her life, but she won't go back to being a man, and insists on having the surgery anyway.  Donna used to be Daniel, and Daniel was married to Vicky, who decides she can't leave him/her because they are best friends no matter who Daniel/Donna is.  A very interesting case.  Meredith spends the whole time trying to get McSteamy to stop flirting or talking about Derek and what a bad idea it is to get back with him.  The boys, meanwhile, are out in the woods, being woodsy and trying to fish.  FUNNY.  George sees Burke's hand shaking a little while fishing, and he is puzzled, but I don't think George knows that Burke isn't at full capacity.  George is still hanging onto Callie, and says he wasn't ready before, but he is now.  Alex tells George that getting back together with Callie isn't a good idea because she's sleeping with Sloan (only partially true, but hey).  George refuses to believe it, and starts a fight with Alex.  The Chief makes them have a slap fight so they don't damage their precious surgeon's hands.  The slap fight?  Frickin' funniest thing.  Cristina gets close to telling Meredith the truth about what she and Burke are doing, but she is interrupted.  Bailey demands to know why Cristina took her off Burke's surgery, and Cristina can't tell her.  After discovering that they have more common ground than Izzie first thought, she finally opens up to Sydey "heal with love" peer counselor, and tells her that she misses Denny all the time. :(  There was a scary moment where I though Meredith might let McSteamy start something with her, but she decides instead to go along with Derek's "start from the beginning" plan, and they kiss and start the process of being together again.  Thank God.  I don't really care about Derek/Meredith that much, but I would much rather have Meredith and McDreamy together than Meredith and that rat McSteamy.  Addison gets weepy over a patient whose baby is dead and doesn't know it, and Callie is surprisingly sympathetic and friendly.  I have a hunch that Addison might be pregnant.  I really think she might be.  Back from the fiasco in the woods, George tells Callie that they need to talk (because I think he's starting to believe Alex), and Callie cuts him off by telling him that something happened with his father, and George sees his father in a hospital bed.  What's wrong, I don't know, but it must be serious.  This was a good episode.  Cute moment with Izzie and George at the beginning, and the stories with the patients were good.  Next week: I think Cristina and Burke are found out.  Uh oh.

11/2/06
    "Let the Angels Commit"
3.06: Izzie is back!  YAY!  But Bailey, being reluctant to take Izzie back as her intern, won't let her do anything.  I mean anything.  She has to shadow Meredith all day and do nothing ("Meredith is the boss of me").  George is still having trouble letting go of Callie, and Meredith is fretting about Derek.  There was a funny moment in the elevator when George says to Meredith, "I'll be Cristina for you if you'll be Izzie for me."  Meredith agrees, and they tell each other their problems and pretend to be Cristina and Izzie.  Aww, Izzie is the one George talks to when he needs advice or encouragement.  So cute.  A pregnant woman comes into the hospital, and she has two uteruses!  Holy crap!  George is apparently Addison's intern now, so he gets to work on the double uterus case.  After talking to the dad of the two babies (each of which has his or her own uterus), George goes to Callie and insists that he wants to be committed to her, but she rebuffs him again.  Izzie is frustrated with her hands being tied and the way everything at the hospital has changed without her.  She tries to eat lunch with everybody, but Cristina is really cranky because of all the work she's been doing trying to help Burke cover up his hand problems.  George mentions something to Meredith about their earlier elevator exchange, and Izzie wants to know what's going on.  George says, "We have a thing."  "Wait, you have a thing with Meredith and I don't know about it?"  "It's a work thing."  Sad.  George is cranky because of Callie, but he was short with Izzie, and it hurts Ellen.  Izzie finally can't stand it anymore and acts on a hunch about a patient, and she ends up really helping.  Cristina and Burke's coverup ends up hurting Bailey because Cristina takes Bailey off a surgery so she can help Burke, and Bailey thinks that Burke did it himself because he doesn't trust her judgement. :(  George tries again with Callie, and she says, "Don't chase me anymore unless you're ready to catch me."  At the end of the episode, Bailey sees Cristina changing the OR board to accomodate for her and Burke's secret coverup of his hand problems, but I doubt that Bailey understands that yet.  It was a good episode.  I felt bad for Izzie though.  Everyone was all angry and worried about their own crap and weren't really that happy that she was back.  And I'm disappointed in George for still chasing after Callie, especially after she did the nasty with McSteamy.

10/19/06
    "Oh, The Guilt"
3.05: Yay, Izzie made it inside the hospital this time.  Sadly, it was because she wanted to clear out her locker.  But she never actually got that far.  First she sat there and stared at it, and then she decided to wander around the hospital for a while.  She walked in on the Mortality & Morbidity meeting where, like, every single doctor in the hospital was crying "off with her head!" and blaming Dr. Bailey for Denny's death.  She stood up to the criticism well, but it bothered Bailey when they brought up her pregnancy hormones as a possible reason for her lapse in judgment.  Needless to say, Izzie was not okay after that.  George, adorable thing that he is, volunteers to stay with Izzie while she's there because she shouldn't be alone.  YAY!  Burke wanted to tell the Chief that he shouldn't do surgery, but an emergency in the OR forced him to do heart surgery.  When he couldn't do a difficult stitch, he handed it off to Cristina who made it look like she was taking a learning opportunity.  Izzie and the other interns were watching from the observation room, and suddenly Izzie gets all excited about Cristina getting to do the complicated stitch on a guy's heart.  At the end, she goes to the Chief, ostensibly to get her job back, and I think he's gonna let her.  Oh, and another thing.  Addison and Derek's divorce is final.  I'm glad.  I wanted Addison to be free of stupid Derek.  But I still hate Mark (McSteamy) and I wish he would leave her alone and she would stop falling into bed with him.  Incidentally, Callie also slept with the guy the same night she broke up with George.  George doesn't know that, but since he's having trouble accepting the fact that Callie broke up with him, I doubt she'll tell him anytime soon.  Meredith tells Derek that she broke up with Finn, and Derek does...absolutely nothing about it.  Because he's just learned that Addison's original "one night" with Mark was not in fact one night, it was a relationship, and she was in love with Mark.  Ouch.  But I still don't see what right Derek has to be mad.  I mean, hello?  Meredith, anyone?  But whatev.  So Meredith and McDreamy are not together.  Frankly, I hope they do get together soon so maybe Meredith will stop whining about McDreamy.  In Two Weeks: "Meredith is the boss of me..." Izzie gets her job back, but she has to shadow Meredith.  Funny. :)

10/12/06
    "What I Am"
3.04: Well, two very good things (at least according to me) happened in this episode with respect to George and Izzie.  Callie wanted to know why George was okay talking to Meredith and Izzie about "feelings and stuff" but not to her.  Hmm.  That conversation was never finished because Meredith started vomiting and a man lit a cigarette and set hit head on fire.  Meredith turned out to have appendicitis and was on morphine the entire episode.  It was very interesting.  She blurted out in front of Finn and Derek that she and George had had an embarrassing sexual episode.  Poor George.  He was so mortified.  Then, she and Addison actually had an honest conversation (but only because Meredith was on drugs and high as a kite).  Addison told Derek not to hurt Meredith again, but we all know he will.  McSteamy now officially works at the hospital and is, of course, already wreaking havok.  Derek is mad at him and Addison is struggling to keep her composure.  Burke's hand is shaky, and when Cristina finally finds out, she and Burke agree to try and hide it.  Uh oh.  Izzie had a difficult meeting with Denny's father, but they worked it out, and he gave her something that Denny wanted her to have: an envelope, and the passkey to their answering machine on which Denny left a message before he died.  Meredith gets her appendix out, and Derek decides to do the 'right thing' and step aside for Finn.  Which naturally means that Meredith realizes that Derek is the one she wants (shocker!) and she lets Finn down easy.  George was supposed to have dinner with Callie in her hotel room, but he tells her he has to cancel with her because of Izzie (SQUEE).  Callie says it's always Meredith or Izzie, but never her.  Since George can't figure out exactly who Callie is to him, she breaks up with him right there in the locker room.  This is the first good thing.  The second good thing came at the end when George is sitting with Izzie in their living room while she calls to hear the message Denny left.  He holds her hand!  EEE!  And it's only George there, no one else.  As Izzie listens to the message, George looks at the contents of the envelope.  It's a check for 8.7 million dollars made out to Izzie.  And that's where it ends.  Certainly I'm reeling from just seeing $8,700,000.00 written out on a check, but the fact that there was Izzie/George hand holding and Callie broke up with George because he kind of chose Izzie over her is enough to keep me giggling for days. :D

    "Sometimes a Fantasy"
3.03: So this episode had less medical drama and more people drama.  A guy had to get the left side of his brain severed from the right side to stop seizures.  A little girl (Abigail Breslin, yay!) was found to have a chromosomal condition that did not allow her to feel pain.  She thought she was a superhero.  It was cute and sad.  Meredith is dating both Finn and Derek and eventually got really annoyed with both of them crashing each other's dates with her.  She yelled at them to pay attention to her and not each other.  Whatever.  Cristina struggled with the way Burke was dealing with his recovery, and in the end bought him several raw whole chickens, chopped one in half with a cleaver, and told him to put it back together so that he would regain full dexterity in his hand.  It was good.  George was freaking out about Callie living with him, and it didn't turn out well when Callie figured it out and angrily told him that he should have said he wasn't ready to live together in the first place.  Izzie stood outside the hospital all day because she wasn't ready to come back yet.  I had a bit of a squee when George came out in the middle of the day to try and talk to her, make her sit down at least.  She wouldn't listen to him, though.  It made me sad.  It also irked me that Alex was the one who put a coat around her shoulders at the end of the day and lead her away from the hospital so she could try again when she was more ready.  Stupid Alex.  Addison is still very upset about the whole Derek/Meredith ordeal, and she kept trying to get rid of McSteamy.  He won't leave.  (And now it looks like he'll be working at the hospital, so we'll never see the end of him.  Ack.)  It was very cute at the end though, when Meredith, Izzie, and George all lounged on Meredith's bed eating ice cream, commiserating, just like old times.  If I can't ever see Izzie and George together, I want them to always be good friends.  It would break my heart if they ever stopped being friends.

    "I Am a Tree"
3.02: First of all, Izzie is maniacally baking, and no one can stop her or convince her to come back to the hospital.  George and the others are very concerned about her, and they want Bailey to talk to her.  Bailey is angry at her because she was partially responsible for Denny's death and won't talk to Izzie.  Derek and Finn are still waiting for Meredith to pick one of them, and she spends the entire episode fretting about it.  Whatev.  Cristina hates Burke's mother and obsesses about the fact that his mom thinks she's selfish.  Bailey yells at the interns about the panties pinned up on the bulletin board, and Callie claims them to spare Meredith the embarrassment (aww, how nice of her).  That's one thing that I don't get.  Callie is being really nice to Meredith now.  Okay, not really, really nice, but still...nice.  I don't object, but it's a little odd.  Anyway, George gets jealous because he's never seen those panties before and thinks Callie is seeing someone else.  Meredith eventually sets him straight about the underwear.  Callie gets kicked out of her little room at the hospital and I guess is gonna stay at George and Meredith and Izzie's apartment.  For how long, I don't know.  In the end, Meredith decides to date both Derek and Finn at the same time, and they both know about it.  Hmm.  Bailey finally tells Izzie to stop baking.  And poor Addison!  She drinks herself into a stupor because her marriage is over, and when Derek comes over to apologize for letting her find out about the marriage being over by discovering Meredith's underpants in his jacket pocket, none other than McSteamy walks into the room in nothing but a towel, clearly indicating that he and Addison have just slept together.  Derek walks out without a word.  And I say he deserves it.  Fair is fair.  So, Izzie tries to come back to work next week.  I'll be happy about that because it means less baking and more time with George. :D

Grey's Anatomy Season 3 Premiere: "Time Has Come Today"
3.01: So, the plague has come to the hospital, and George and Derek spent the entire time quarantined in the locker room while almost everyone else was back at Meredith, George, and Izzie's apartment to sit shiva for Izzie and Denny (even though Izzie is Catholic, hehe).  There were a lot of flashbacks in this episode: Derek and Addison's original breakup, Derek and Meredith's first meeting, the interns' first meetings, etc.  Apparently, the first thing Izzie ever said to George was something like "isn't this exciting?  Tomorrow we'll be surgeons."  Hee!  Izzie herself spent the whole episode lying on the bathroom floor in her prom dress.  At the very beginning, they were all standing outside the door trying to decide who should be the first one to go in and talk to her.  They wanted "dark and twisty" Meredith to do it, but guess who actually was the first one to lie down on the bathroom floor with Izzie?  George, that's who!  Squee!  After that, George was stuck with Derek, and they mostly talked about Meredith and Callie, but it was apparent to me that George was pretty concerned about Izzie, too. :)  George also really isn't sure if he loves Callie, even though she loves him and has said so twice now.  Hmm.  All in all, a good episode.  It was sad and happy at the same time when Izzie finally got up off the bathroom floor and let Meredith help her out of her prom dress.  I love this show.
