3.07: No LOST until February! I will die! :(

"I Do"
3.06: Nathan Fillion guest stars in this Kate flashback
episode as a cop that Kate married some time after blowing up her father,
getting her friend killed, and robbing banks. He thinks her name is
Monica, and they get married and are happy--until Kate realizes that Marshal
guy will never stop chasing her. She tells Kevin (the cop) the truth,
drugs him so they won't think he had anything to do with her criminal past,
and goes on the run again. It was very sad because it looked like Kate
really loved the guy. But who cares about that when she has Sawyer
now? Hee. Jack doesn't want to do the surgery on Ben and he lets
the Others know it. Juliet keeps sending him urgent messages with her
eyes, but Jack seems intent. In the cages, the scary Danny guy who
has it in for Sawyer says that Kate will go to work today, but Sawyer "has
the day off." Kate, immediately sensing something wrong, insists that
Sawyer has to work. "We're a team." Danny acquiesces and lets
Sawyer work. Meanwhile, after Eko's death, Locke, Sayid, and the others
with them at the time bury Eko out in the jungle (after going to find his
Scripture stick, on which Locke notices something significant about looking
north?). At the work site, Alex starts shooting people with a slingshot
and creating confusion, desperate to find out what they did with the young
boy in Kate's cage who tried to escape before Kate got there. The Others
took him away and we never saw him again. Apparently, Alex never did
either. They drag her off, and as they're taking her away, she yells
to Kate that "they're gonna kill your boyfriend just like they killed mine!"
Good for you, Alex. At least she got some good shots in. Kate
is obviously worried about Sawyer, and when Juliet arrives and tells Kate
that if she doesn't come with her, they will kill Sawyer, Kate sees she has
good reason to worry. Juliet takes her to Jack, and after initial relief
at seeing each other alive, Kate starts to fall apart. Jack thinks
she's crying because the Others did something to her, but she tells him to
so the surgery. Whatever they want him to do, he has to do it. Jack
explodes, demanding to know what they offered her or how they got her to
ask him to do this, and Kate chokes out, "They're gonna kill Sawyer!" Jack
reacts like a jerk and says "we're done here" and wants Kate removed. Juliet
acknowledges how much Kate must really care about Sawyer. Kate tells
Sawyer about seeing Jack, and Sawyer agrees that Jack shouldn't do the surgery,
and she wants him to care about staying alive. He protests, telling
her to stay in her cage. She even says "Shut up, James." Hee!
She busts the lock on his cage, and he finally tells her that they
can't escape because they're stuck on an Alcatraz-like island. She
is mad because he didn't tell her, and he says he never planned to because
he wanted her to have some hope. And she is so distraught, and clearly
loves him so much, so she kisses him. "What was that for?" "I don't
know. I don't know." They kiss again, and it quickly gets intense,
some clothing is removed, and it is implied before commercial break that
they are going to have sex. Holy crap, the passion and the kissing
and the SQUEE. Later, Kate is lying in Sawyer's arms, and neither of
them is wearing a shirt yet. He calls her Freckles, and asks her, "When
you said 'I love you', that was just to get him to stop, right?" And
you can tell that Sawyer badly wants her to say that no, it wasn't, that
she really loves him. She's quiet for a long time, and Sawyer starts
to look a little worried, but then she sits up and kisses him in such a tender,
intimate way that it conveys without words that yes, she really loves him.
After she settles back into his arms, he smiles and says, "I love you
too." EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Confession! Back in his aquarium
cell, Alex helps Jack get out, and while trying to get a gun and find a way
out, he sees Sawyer and Kate in the surveilance monitor. Damned jealous
sonofabitch. Jack then goes to Ben and agrees to the surgery because
he wants off "this island," or so he wants Ben and the other Others to think.
Jack and Juliet begin the surgery on Ben. While Ben is out, Danny
and his guy go for Sawyer. Kate practically starts begging for Sawyer's
life, and Sawyer wrestles a gun off one of them and points it at Danny. The
other one holds a gun on Kate, and even though Kate is yelling for him not
to drop his gun, Sawyer lets Danny go so they won't hurt Kate. Kate
becomes hysterical, shouting for Sawyer to fight back, telling Danny that
she'll do anything they want, but don't kill him. "Close your eyes,
Freckles," Sawyer tells her, but she is still beside herself, screaming for
Danny not to kill him. Jack, in surgery, makes an incision on Ben's
kidney, and says that he will let Ben bleed out unless he can talk to Kate.
Tom radios Danny just as he's about to shoot Sawyer, and he gives the
walkie to Kate. Jack tells Kate to run while she can, and Kate refuses,
still panicking about Sawyer's imminent death and not wanting to leave without
Jack. "Run, dammit!" shouts Jack, and that's where the episode ends.
I honestly don't know if Jack intended to include Sawyer in his escape
plan, and obviously he doesn't know that there's nowhere to go. I just
get the feeling that Jack doesn't really care what happens to Sawyer, and
that ticks me off. Aside from that, though, this was, like, the BEST
episode of Lost EVAR. So much Kate/Sawyer squee, I can't contain it
all. I will be waiting on pins and needles for February. :D

"The Cost of Living"
3.05: This was an Eko episode. Boy, was it ever.
After Eko's brother and those other guys got shot and took off in the
plane, Eko was left behind in his priest's outfit. He gets taken back
to the village, and they take him for a real priest. Some guys come
and threaten the village if they don't give them most of a vaccine shipment.
Eko secretly tries to make a deal with the black market to sell the
vaccine himself and keep the money before he leaves the country, but the bad
guys get wind of it and come to chop off his hands. Eko, of course,
kicks their asses and ends up machete-ing them to death. This is all
happening in flashback. Eko on the Island is sick from his wounds, and
he follows his "brother" back to the crashed plane. Locke, Sayid (so
I'm assuming that Sayid, Jin, and Sun made it safely back), and some other
new people follow him because they want to see if they can use the computers
in the hatch there to contact the Others and maybe get Jack, Kate, and Sawyer
back. They can't use the computer there, but they tap into another
camera in another hatch, and they see computers there, and suddenly some
guy with an eye patch shuts the camera off! Scary. Eko is still
wandering around after his brother, and he comes to some kind of epiphany
moment where he says that he's not sorry for the things he's done because
he was doing what he had to to survive, and he was proud of killing a man
when he was young to save his brother's life. It's weird. Then,
the black smoke Island monster arrives and throws Eko around a lot. Locke
and the others hear the commotion and come to his aid, but it's too late,
and Eko is close to death. He whispers to Locke, "you're next" just
before he dies. Sad. I liked Mr. Eko. I will miss him. And
I had no idea he was going to die. I'm trying to do this TV season
unspoiled, see. So yeah, this came as quite a surprise to me. The
only other important thing that happened this episode was that Jack told
Ben that he knows about his spinal tumor and that he's dying. Ben is
caught off guard, but eventually explains to Jack that they brought him there
to break him and make him try to save Ben's life. They want Jack to
operate on the tumor and save Ben, essentially. Juliet comes to talk
Jack "into" saving Ben, but she's really giving him a secret message that
some of the Others are not cool with how Ben is running things, and they
want a change. Juliet tells Jack to kill Ben and make it look like
a complication from surgery. Jack says he'll think about it. Oooohhhh.
So that's it. No Kate or Sawyer this week. NEXT WEEK: HOLY
CRAP. Lots happening, including some, um, Kate/Sawyer nookie, looks
like.

"Every Man For Himself"
3.04: There was so much heart-breaking squee in this
ep, I know I'm probably gonna miss something. Sorry in advance for
that. So this was a Sawyer episode. We saw flashbacks of Sawyer
doing prison time for the con he pulled on that woman, the one that he conned
and slept with. He cons another inmate into telling him where
he hid ten million that he stole from the government. Sawyer tells
the feds, and they commute his sentence and give him a cut of the money.
Sawyer has it anonymously set up in a bank account in the name of...his
daughter. Yes, apparently when he conned that woman, he fathered a
little girl named Clementine. She came to see him in prison and showed
him a picture of a cute little baby. So, he lies and cheats his way
out of prison, but he gives all the money to Clementine. Back on the
island, Desmond is still over at beach camp quietly seeing the future (it's
going to rain, Claire's roof is going to leak, etc.). Sawyer and Kate
are still in the cages. Sawyer comes up with a clever plan. He
causes water to leak out of his cage so that one of Them will step in it.
Then he'll grab whoever it is, touch the electrified button in the
cage, and zap them. Kate is impressed, as it really is something of
a clever plan. :) Sadly, since the Others are watching them,
they know this too. Ben comes, and Sawyer tries out his plan, but they
turned the electricity off. Ben goes in and beats the hell out of Sawyer
while Kate yells for him to stop. Then they knock Sawyer out and take
him somewhere and tie him to a table. Then they prepare to jab a big
needle into his chest while he yells for them to stop. Jack in his
aquarium cell can sort of hear Sawyer screaming through the intercom. Yikes!
Sawyer wakes up with an incision in his chest. They tell him
that they put a pacemaker in him that will cause his heart to explode if
his heartrate goes beyond 140 bpm. They give him a wristwatch heartrate
monitor that beeps if it gets to 125 bpm, and Ben tells him that if he tells
Kate what they did to him, they'll put one in her too. So they send
Sawyer back to his cage, and Kate is of course desperate to know what happened
and if he's okay. He says they just asked him questions and nothing
happened. The fakebeard guys gives Kate some different clothes to wear,
and she asks Sawyer to turn around while she changes. He does, but
he can't help himself and looks. She's got her shirt off (we only see
her naked back because it's TV, thank god), and his heartrate monitor starts
beeping! Kate is suspicious of the beeping, but he won't tell her what
it is. He angrily asks her to put some clothes on. Heee! So
at least Kate gets to wear pants now. Anyway, Kate says that she thinks
she can climb up and squeeze through the bars at the top of the cage. Sawyer
tells her not to, that she should be smart and "chill our here a while and
get the lay of the land." Meanwhile Juliet gets desperate and goes
to Jack for help with the woman that Sun shot. Juliet is beyond her
medical knowledge (she's a fertility doctor), and they take Jack to help
the dying woman. They put a bag over his head and march him past Kate
and Sawyer's cages while an ear-splitting alarm sounds. They yell his
name as loud as they can, and I think Jack might have thought he heard something,
but then he's gone. Jack does what he can, but the injury is too severe
and far gone, so she dies. Her husband, the guy whose nose Sawyer broke,
goes and drags Sawyer out of his cage and slams him up against the outside
of Kate's. He says "Do you love this guy?" And Kate's all, "What?"
and getting scared, and Sawyer's heart monitor is beeping. The guy
starts to hit Sawyer over and over while asking Kate "do you love him," and
she's crying and begging him to stop, and it's so cute because she puts her
arms through the bars and around Sawyer (who isn't fighting back because
of his pacemaker). Finally, she yells out "Yes, I love him!" She's
still got one arm around Sawyer's chest and the other one is held out trying
to get the angry man to stop, and she's crying and Sawyer's all bloody. SAD
SQUEE. So the angry guy walks off to grieve his dead wife and they
lock Sawyer back up in his cage. While Sawyer cleans himself up, Kate
asks is he's okay, and Sawyer says dandy. Kate climbs up to the top
of the cage and succeeds in squeezing between the bars in the ceiling. Sawyer
tells her to stop, but she says that she doesn't know what they did to him,
but that he's scared enough to lie about it, and that scares her more than
anything they've done so far. She's trying to break the lock on his
cage, and he's desperately telling her to leave him there and run. She
won't, and demands to know why he didn't fight back. "Tell me the truth
for once in your life!" "If you really love me...go." "I only
said that so he'd stop hitting you." Kate gets back into her cage,
but Sawyer still wants her to run, get out of there, save herself. She
looks at him and says "live together, die alone." Sniffle! And
I know she claims that she only said she loved him so the angry guy would
stop hitting Sawyer, but with all the crying and holding him through the
bars and everything? I think she's just backpedaling because she does
love Sawyer and it scares her. Awwwwww. Ben appears in Sawyer's
cage at night and makes him take a walk. They climb up to the top of
some rocks and there, across the water, is the Island! The Others don't
actually live on the Island! They live on a smaller one about twice
the size of Alcatraz. (So that's why they got to the boat without Sayid
and Jin knowing; they came from the water when Sayid expected them to be
coming from land.) Ben wants Sawyer to know that there is nowhere to
run. He also informs Sawyer that there is no pacemaker, and he finds
it interesting that only when they threatened "her" did Sawyer get scared.
EEEE! So, even though it was under duress, Kate says she loves
Sawyer! So much squee, I don't know where to put it all. Can't
wait for next week. :D

"Further Instructions"
3.03: So, Locke wakes up in the jungle, and he sees
a naked Desmond wandering around, but he can't speak for some reason. He
finds his way back to the beach camp, and he builds a sweat lodge where he
can meditate and have visions so the island will speak to him. Boone
(Boone! I miss him! I miss Boone/Shannon!) appears to him and
they're suddenly in an airport, and all the castaways are there doing various
airport-y things. Boone says that one of them needs Locke's help, and
Locke keeps looking until he finds Eko's Scripture stick, and it has blood
on it. Incidentally, in this airport vision, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer
are behind glass going through security. Boone says that Lock can't
help them just yet. The fun part was that while Kate and Sawyer waited
in line, they kept giving each other slightly flirty looks. Yes, it's
just Locke's crazy Boone-vision, but it was still cute. :) Anyhoo,
Locke wakes up and tells Charlie that he has to save Eko from a polar bear.
I want to say at this juncture how happy I am that they decided to revisit
one of the mysteries originally introduced in the beginning of the show.
Plus, I just really like polar bears. So Locke and a reluctant
Charlie set off to look for Eko, and they run into Hurley on the way, who
tells them what happened to Jack and Kate and Sawyer. They tell him
to go back to the beach and tell the others (not the Others, just the others).
Hurley finds a nekkid Desmond on his way back and gives him a tie-dye
shirt to wear. Too funny. Locke and Charlie find Eko in a cave
where a polar bear is about to kill him, and Locke uses hairspray and a torch
to burn the crap out of the bear (polar bears are the largest land-dwelling
predator, did you know that?). He and Charlie drag Eko back to the
beach camp, and everyone is waiting for them. Locke gives a little speech
about taking care of Eko first before going to find Jack, Kate, and Sawyer
and save them. It appears that Locke has found his purpose, his spirit,
if you will, once again. The Island giveth, and the Island taketh away,
and all that. The interesting thing about Locke's speech is that Desmond
mentioned Locke's speech to Hurley before it actually happened. So,
in addition to blowing his underpants off, the hatch detonation gave him
precognitive powers. Ooooh. This was a Locke flashback ep, and
we learn that some time after his father stole his kidney and the whole Helen/Katey
Sagal thing happened, he joined a marijuana farming commune and almost murdered
an undercover cop. He didn't, though. And that's basically it.
No update on Kate and everybody. BUT! NEXT WEEK: There
is not enough squee in the world. I mean, the fact that the Others
are going to torture Sawyer is NOT squee-worthy, but the reason for it? It
looks like they torture Sawyer until Kate says out loud that she loves him.
The preview showed Ben (I think) shouting at Kate "do you love him?"
over and over while they do painful things to Sawyer until she finally can't
take it anymore and admits that she loves him. EEEEEEEEEEEE!!

"The Glass Ballerina"
3.02: SQUEE. First, let me get the business
out of the way before I start squeeing all over the place. We still
don't see anything of the people back at the beach camp, or Hurley, or Locke
and Desmond and Eko. Jack is still locked up in the aquarium, and even
though Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) makes soup for him, he doesn't eat it.
Toward the end of the episode, Ben shows Jack the Red Sox winning the
World Series on TV, and tells him other things that have happened in the
outside world since the plane crash. He offers Jack a deal: cooperate
with the Others, and they will send him home (as in, back to the outside
world and off the island). We don't have Jack's answer yet. This
was a Jin and Sun flashback episode, and since we actually see that Sun had
an affair with Jae, I am more convinced than ever that Sun's baby is actually
Jae's and not Jin's. Sayid and Jin try to trap the Others so they
can use them to get Jack, Sawyer, and Kate back, but they end up losing
the boat to the Others instead, and nearly losing Sun too. Sun actually
shoots one of the others before jumping off the boat. I guess they
plan to walk back to the beach camp now, since the Others have the boat.
Okay, now for the part I had to rewind and re-watch about fifteen
times. Sawyer and Kate are dragged out of their cages and made to
work in a field. The guys watching them have guns and a stun gun
thing that really hurts when you get shocked with it. Kate gets the
rocks out of the dirt with a pickax, Sawyer hauls them away in a wheelbarrow.
They aren't allowed to talk to each other, touch each other, or pretty
much do anything without getting shocked. They work for a while, and
Sawyer is keeps staring at Kate's butt while she has to work in that ridiculous
sun dress (which we find out actually belongs to Alex, the teenage girl).
Sawyer is flirty with Kate, but also concerned for her and pissed off
at the others. Juliet offers him water, and he pours it out on the
ground. Then, as he's taking the wheelbarrow back to haul more rocks,
he stops and just stares at Kate as she takes a rest from swinging the pickax.
He kind of smiles a little, and suddenly just tosses the wheelbarrow
aside, marches up to Kate, and kisses
her. And it was a GOOD kiss. The bastard Others guy yells and
comes over to punish Sawyer, and as Sawyer pulls away from Kate, he smiles
this little smile at her, like he knows what's coming now, but it was worth
it just to kiss her. Then he gets hit in the head with a rifle butt.
Before he gets hit again, he grabs the rifle and beats down a bunch
of the Others guys before Juliet tells him to drop the gun. She very
calmly holds a gun to Kate's head. Sawyer drops the gun. Later,
Kate asks Sawyer what he was thinking, and he says he couldn't help it.
She just looked so cute swinging that pickax. His real reason
was to guage the fighting ability of the men guarding them so he knows who
he can take and who might be a challenge in an escape attempt. He
shares all his info with Kate, and then she asks him why Juliet called him
James. Because that's my name, says Sawyer. Sawyer says that
Kate tastes like strawberries, and Kate says that Sawyer tastes like fish
biscuit. SO FRAKKING CUTE.
Sawyer says that now all they have to do is wait for the bastards to
make a mistake. Unfortunately, Ben has been watching the whole conversation
on the surveilance system, so now he knows everything Sawyer knows. I'm
exhausted from all the squee of this ep. Can't wait for next week when
he finally see what's been happening with Locke, Desmond, and Eko. :)
10/4/06
"A Tale of Two Cities"
3.01: SQUEEEEEEEEE! I will explain the squee
at the end of this review. This episode took place entirely with
Jack, Kate, and Sawyer as they've been captured and held prisoner by The
Others, who apparently live in a little cul-de-sac on the other side of
the island with ovens, plumbing, book clubs, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
Weird. This was a Jack episode, and we learned more about the
dissolution of his marriage to Sarah (Julie Bowen again). Remember
Henry, the guy they had locked in the armory for a while? Well, his
name is Ben, and he seems to be in charge of The Others. He made Kate
put on this sundress which, while very pretty, is totally impractical for
existence on this island. He promised her that the next two weeks
would be very unpleasant. Kate kept asking about "Sawyer and Jack,"
and Ben asked my question for me: "Why Sawyer? You asked about him
first." We didn't really get an answer for that. ;) He then put her
in an outdoor cage across from Sawyer's. (Initially, all three of
them were separated: Jack in a waterless aquarium, Sawyer in the cage, and
Kate in a locker room or with Ben.) When Sawyer and Kate saw each
other, it was written all over their faces that they were relieved to see
each other alive, worried about what was coming, and happy to be together.
Cute. Sawyer even gave her his "fish biscuit" that he had to
work out a device in his cage to get. Jack tried to escape, but failed.
Sawyer also attempted escape and failed. I honestly have no idea
what The Others want or what they're trying to accomplish. But NEXT
WEEK: EEEEEEEEE! Sawyer and Kate will kiss! At least that's
what it looks like in the promos. It could be a hallucination or a
dream, but I am hoping for the real thing. So excited!2!1!!@seven!!
