Chapter Thirty Seven
As Lucy looked in the mirror, she let out a frustrated
sigh noticing how bloated she appeared to be as the
pounding continued outside of the room. With a
frustrated moan, she tugged at her shoulders hoping to
detract from her non-existent waistline as she heard
another thud at the door.
"Just a minute," Lucy groaned fumbling with the length
of her dress before turning to the side to take in her
profile. "Oh geez, I look like a big, fat balloonga."
"You look beautiful Lucy," A familiar voice called out
as she turned around to find Victor standing in the
doorway.
"Victor," she replied with a smile rushing over to
throw her arms around his neck embracing him in a hug,
"I thought you'd be inside the chapel right now."
"And miss the opportunity to spend these few moments
along with my daughter-in-law to be. Not a chance,"
Victor replied brightly as he bent over to speak into
her abdomen. "And how are my grandchildren doing this
morning?"
"They're feisty as ever," Lucy admitted patting her
stomach lightly. "In fact if I didn't know better,
I'd say they're ready to jump out of here and go down
the isle without me."
"We can't let that happen now can we?" Victor smiled
reaching out to touch her stomach as he whispered to
his unborn grandchildren. "Now you listen here to old
grandpa and try to behave yourselves until mommy and
daddy are done doing what needs to be done."
"You two better listen to your grandfather," Lucy
added feeling one of the babies move yet again as
Victor looked up at her for a second with a mysterious
glimmer in his eye before directing his attention back
to her abdomen yet again.
"Of course when the ceremony is over," Victor added
with a wicked smile, "then you both can feel free to
arrive at any time because your old grandpa here is
more than eager to have you both out into this world."
"Let's not rush things Victor. I'd like to enjoy my
honeymoon if you don't mind," Lucy remarked flashing
him a menacing glare before glancing over in the
mirror once again. "Although I don't know how much
I'm going to enjoy it considering I can barely fit
through a door these days let alone the limousine
waiting for Doc and I outside."
"Lucy, you're absolutely radiant." Victor replied
coming up from behind her and placing his hands on her
shoulders. "I've never seen a more beautiful bride in
all my time and trust me, I've seen many weddings in
my time."
"You're just biased Victor." Lucy remarked smiling
back at his reflection.
"Even so, pregnancy suits you Lucy." Victor added
gently massaging her shoulders a bit as she leaned
back into him. "Monk and I are very lucky to have you
in our lives."
"I'm the lucky one Victor," Lucy sighed thinking about
all she and Kevin had endured to make it to this point
in time. "I can't believe today's the day. After
everything that happened, it's really happening and
this time nothing's going to keep me from being Dr.
Mrs. Kevin Collins once and for all."
"That's a promise Lucy." Victor nodded in agreement
checking the time once more.
"It's almost time, isn't it?" Lucy questioned
nervously.
"Yeah, it appears to be that way." Victor nodded as
Lucy turned to straighten his bow tie.
"Oh I just hope everything is in order? Did you see
Serena?" Lucy asked continuing to work on his tie as
he nodded. "She looked so beautiful in her gown and
oh didn't she and Neil make the cutest little pairing?
I just know everyone is going to be commenting on how
adorable they look together going down the isle."
"Yeah they are quite fiesty." Victor chuckled. "You
know Serena always trying to help. In fact, she was
trying to run through it with TJ one last time, but
all that boy can think about is getting out of his
suit and going for the cake."
"Why doesn't that surprise me?" Lucy laughed feeling a
twitch in her abdomen. "Oooh."
"Lucy, are you okay?" Victor questioned with concern.
"I'm fine. Just the twins kicking up again." Lucy
smiled weakly. "They're just eager to get this show
on the road."
"As we all are. It's long past due," Victor commented
checking the time. "I suppose I should head on back
to check on Monk now seeing as he was pacing in
circles the last time I saw him."
"Knowing Kevin he's probably worn a hole in the
carpet. You didn't leave him alone, did you?" Lucy
asked thinking about her beloved fiancee.
"Of course not. He's with Matt." Victor explained
assuringly. "I wouldn't dare leave Monk alone at a
time like this. He's bound to drive all the guests
insane."
"Speaking of Matt, have you seen Ellen around here?"
Lucy questioned realizing she hadn't seen Ellen yet
and time was running short before the ceremony.
"I believe she's putting the finishing touches on her
dress." Victor explained giving her a quick kiss on
the cheek. "Everything's going to be just perfect
Lucy."
"I hope so." she replied giving him a hug. "I really
hope so."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It feels like this is taking forever." Kevin muttered
spinning on his heel once again as he looked out at
the half filled church.
"Kevin, would you just try to relax?" Matt suggested
watching his friend move around the room in a jagged
pattern.
"I'm trying to relax, but I have all these old
memories from the last wedding attempt Lucy and I
made, and it just doesn't sit well with me." Kevin
admitted turning in another direction. "I mean I know
that this time it's not going to end up like it did
last time, but still in the back of my mind, I can't
help but feel a sense of deju vu here because you know
how things work for Lucy and I."
"Well maybe if you take a moment to stand still, it
might alleviate some of those pre-wedding jitters your
having or at the very least it might save some wear
and tear on the carpet." Matt chuckled in amusement
watching Kevin closely.
"You're right." Kevin nodded freezing in his tracks as
he began to fidget with his tie. "I just don't know
about this double wedding thing. The last time we
tried this, well...you know how that turned out."
"This is why Ellen and I just decided to elope." Matt
replied with a laugh.
"Yeah, I still have a few words coming in your
direction for pulling that little number on all of
us," Kevin insisted glaring at Matt for a moment.
"You have no idea how hard it was for me to calm Lucy
down after she'd discovered the news that you two
weren't having a traditional wedding with us."
"Yeah well, Ellen and I decided we didn't need all of
the bravado and the show. We just needed each other,"
Matt smiled noticing Ellen approaching them down the
isle. "Just be thankful you and Lucy found another
couple willing to stand in for Ellen and I."
"Hey you two," Ellen smiled greeting them. "How are
you doing?"
"Uh...." Kevin groaned feeling his face grow flushed.
"Kevin, you look like you're on your way to a
funeral." Ellen decided nudging him slightly. "This
is your wedding day, you should be thrilled."
"I am thrilled, but I'll be even more enthused once
it's over and Lucy is my wife." Kevin confessed
greeting her with a lighthearted smile.
"Soon Kevin. Very soon." Ellen replied quickly
scanning the church. "Now where's the other groom?
Isn't he supposed to be out here with you as well?"
"I saw him a little while ago in the preacher's
office, but that was over a half an hour ago." Kevin
answered with a shrug. "He was trying to find a way
to deal with his nerves I suppose."
"Well, he'd better come to terms with the anxiety he's
feeling soon because if he's not here shortly, we're
going to have to start without him. I'm going to go
check on Lucy," Ellen decided wondering where the
other groom was.
"Actually now that Ellen's mentioned it. Maybe we
should start a search party," Kevin suggested
exchanging glances with Matt. "There's no telling
what could've happened to him."
"That's true, but knowing him, he's found himself some
kind of distraction for the time remaining before the
ceremony." Matt decided a bit puzzled himself.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Oh yes....um, that's nice," Chris breathed closing
his eyes and taking in the feel of the mouth pressed
to his as he welcomed in each sensual movement Eve
made. Re-opening his eyes to take in the curves of
her body, he picked her up taking her in his arms.
Feeling the heat radiating from within as she
tightened her grip on him, he grabbed her feeling her
wrapping her legs around him and he found himself
unable to hold back any longer as they moved around
the room together in a heated frenzy of passion.
"I don't think we have enough time for this Ramsey,"
Eve whispered hoarsely breaking away from the kiss as
she stared back at his fiery gaze.
"We'll make time," Chris insisted unwilling to let
this moment pass him by after he'd waited so long for
Eve to finally come around.
"But the ceremony starts in less than fifteen
minutes," Eve began to protest.
"We can fit it in," Chris urged reaching for the
zipper on the back of her dress as they fell back onto
the couch together.
"I hope you're right because the last thing I want is
for the preacher to come in here and find us like this
in such a compromising position," Eve replied fiercely
tearing at the buttons on his shirt.
"We'll just say that we needed to exorcize the demons
before taking that walk down the isle," Chris
suggested helping her out with his shirt.
"In a church?"
"Eve, I don't care if it's in a church, I've waited
too long for this to think about the consequences and
morality of what we're doing," Chris informed her
placing a kiss on her neck. "We'll say some Hail
Mary's later on."
"Works for me," Eve replied before Chris pressed his
mouth to hers deepening the kiss with each passing
second until she no longer felt the need to protest.
"Besides don't worry about company Lambert," Chris
explained feeling her hot kisses against his newly
exposed skin. "The preacher told me to take all the
time I needed in here to collect myself and use it
wisely so as you can clearly see that's just what I
intend to do."
"You know now that I think about it, maybe this isn't
the right place for us," Eve started to protest once
again as Chris pulled her down to him abruptly cutting
her off raising a finger to her perfectly sculpted
lips. "I mean if you think about it, everyone we know
is out there waiting for us and if we don't show up
soon, they're going to send out a search party."
"Eve, I don't think it's going to matter," Chris
replied trailing his finger along her jawline as he
gazed her over in admiration. "Besides, I thought you
liked to live on the edge from time to time."
"Well, I do, but Chris, shouldn't we have waited until
after the ceremony to do this?" Eve questioned as he
drew her in nearer to him urging her onto his lap. "I
mean that's usualy how it goes in this situation."
"Lambert.......shush!" he instructed tracing the
outline of her lips. "We're on the clock here."
"How romantic!" Eve muttered rolling her eyes at his
comment.
"Do you really want to stop?" Chris asked looking at
her after a long pause. "I mean if you're really so
dead set against this happening here, I suppose I
could put it on hold."
"Not a chance!" Eve grinned throwing her arms around
him and kissing him fiercely.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Knock, knock." A voice called out as Lucy turned
around to find Scott standing in the doorway behind
her.
"Scott," she smiled turning to greet him.
"Wow, you look......" Scott trailed off at a loss for
words as he gazed her over. "Lucy, I've never seen
you look more beautiful."
"You mean htat Pal?" Lucy questioned with a smile
fighting to suppress her tears of joy as she gazed him
over in admiration. "You don't look so bad yourself.
In fact, you clean up well Baldwin."
"What in this monkey suit?" Scott questioned looking
down at his tuxedo and fidgeting a bit. "You know how
I hate these things."
"Yeah well, I think you look amazing in it. Even if
you don't like them." Lucy confessed.
"Can you believe today's the day?" Scott questioned
noticing how happy she appeared to be. "Kevin's a
lucky man."
"I'm the lucky one Scott." Lucy replied with a smile
as she looked around the room feeling as if she was
forgetting something. "Serena. What about Serena?"
"She's with TJ and Neil." Scott explained noticing the
look of panic on her face. "They're looking for Eve."
"She'd better be ready for today because I swear if
she does the wrong thing, I'm libel to club her." Lucy
started remembering the last time Eve had been at her
wedding.
"Lucy, I don't htink she's going to be plotting
against you this time around. Besides I thought you
two called a truce after the incident with Ryan and
Angel." Scott reminded her quickly.
"Well, we did, but that doesn't mean I still won't put
anything past her," Lucy admitted noticing the frown
on Scott's face as she cracked a grin. "Scott, I'm
joking. Eve is the least of my concerns right now.
In fact, don't you have somewhere you have to be?"
"Me? Hmm, well I suppose there's somewhere I'm
supposed to be right now, but I can't quite think of
what it could be offhand," Scott teased watching her
face grow red. "Actually now that you mention it, I
think I may have left the stove on back at the
firehouse."
"Scott Baldwin, don't you dare think about walking out
of this ceremony," Lucy warned menacingly. "If you
even try, I'll have to drag you in back here by your
hair and what a sight it will be to see a very
pregnant woman pulling you across the church."
"You wouldn't dare." Scott replied in a challenging
tone.
"Don't tempt me Pal. You know how I am about getting
my way," Lucy replied glaring at him for a moment.
"All right I'm going. I'm going," Scott answered
raising his hands in the air in defeat. "Poor Kevin.
My heart goes out to him."
"And what's that supposed to mean?" Lucy questioned
raising an eyebrow.
"I love you Luce, but you sure are nasty when you're
pregnant. I just hope those two come out soon before
you take out all your agressions half the church."
Scott teased taking a step towards the door in
retreat.
"Don't push me Pal, or you'll be first on my list."
Lucy warned as he opened the door.
"I'll keep that in mind, but now I really must go to
offer Kevin some moral support." Scott grinned waving
goodbye before returning into the hall nearly knocking
Ellen over in the process.
"Is she ready?" Ellen questioned peeking over Scott's
shoulder into the room.
"More than ever." Scott nodded with a grin as Ellen
headed towards the door. "Hey Ellen, wait a second."
"Yes?" Ellen questioned turning to face him once
again.
"Have you seen Marisa around here?" Scott asked
curiously hoping Ellen would give him some information
on her whereabouts.
"I haven't seen her recently, but I'm sure she's just
fine." Ellen replied quickly noticing that the
ceremony was about to start. "You know right now
Scott, I think you'd better get back in the other room
before things start to get really hectic around here."
"All right I'm going." Scott replied with a sigh.
"Geez, you women sure are pushy around here today."
"Weddings seem to bring out the beasts in us." Ellen
chuckled in amusement as Scott rolled his eyes.
"Gee, I hadn't noticed." he replied sarcastically as
she nudged him down the hallway.
"Get out of here Scott." Ellen insisted urging him
towards the chapel.
"All right. All right. I'm going. I'm going." Scott
huffed realizing there was no need to protest any
longer as Ellen headed towards Lucy's room.
"All set?" Ellen questioned tapping on the door as she
noticed Lucy checking out her appearance.
"Ready as I'll ever be." Lucy replied turning to face
her friend. "Let's get this show on the road."
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Where have you been Chris?" Kevin questioned as Chris
ran down the isle nearly tripping over his own two
feet as he realized he'd forgotten to tie his shoes in
his run over from the pastor's office. "For a while
there we thought we were going to have to start this
thing without you."
"I was a bit tied up," Chris explained with a warm
expression thinking back to his well spent time with
Eve and how it came to it's explosive ending much too
soon. "I had a few things to iron out earlier."
"I hope they're taken care of now." Kevin replied
eyeing Chris closely.
"Oh I'd have to say they're more than ironed out. In
fact everything is just perfect." Chris smiled beaming
from ear to ear as Scott made his way up to the altar.
"Tell me one more time why we're here today." Scott
called out taking his place beside Kevin as the music
began playing.
"Because of that crazy little thing called love."
Kevin whispered feeling a lump forming in his throat
as the guests were seated and the ceremony began.
"Is that what it is?" Scott asked dryly looking around
the room. "You know it's not too late for us to sneak
out right now."
"And miss out on the greatest day of my life?" Kevin
questioned. "Not a chance."
"Glad you feel that way because your opportunity to
run out the door just passed you by," Chris said
hearing the music playing as he watched the door ready
for things to come.
"Wild horses couldn't drag me away." Kevin explained
taking in a breath knowing that the moment he'd waited
his whole life for had arrived as Serena and Neil
walked down the isle together.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Eve where have you been?" Lucy questioned with a huff
as Ellen fluffed her dress. "You know if you even
think you're going to ruin my weding day..."
"Lucy, I wouldn't dream of it today," Eve explained
looking at her for a moment, "Lucy you deserve this.
If anyone deserves to be happy, it's you and Kevin.
I'm really glad that this time around, it could happen
for you."
"Well," Lucy smiled hardly believing how they'd done
this complete turn around with one another, "thank you
Eve."
"You're welcome," Eve smiled watching Serena and Neil
followed by TJ.
"Aren't they adorable?" Marisa asked approaching the
group.
"They're absolutely perfect," Lucy remarked watching
Serena and feeling a sense of pride. She looked to
Eve, "Well, don't hold this up or else..."
"I'm going, I'm going....." Eve said walking towards
the door.
"You ready for this Lucy?" Marisa asked handing Lucy
her bouquet.
"More ready than anyhting I've ever been ready for in
my life," Lucy confessed as Ellen gave her a quick hug
and followed down the isle after Eve. Lucy smiled at
Marisa, "Well this is it."
"Yeah, the big moment," Marisa nodded taking in a
breath.
"You nervous?" Lucy asked.
"Terrified," Marisa admitted.
"Well, don't be. I know that Scott loves you and I'm
glad that we could share this day together," Lucy
replied, "You make him happy and that's all I've ever
wanted for him."
"He makes me very happy too," Marisa smiled.
"I can see that and from the first moment you told me
about your mystery man, I knew it was something
special. I'm just glad you two were able to find one
another again, but if it's written in the stars...."
"......then it will happen," Marisa finished. "I
know."
"Just look at me and Doc," Lucy smiled taking in one
more breath, "we've waited a long time for this and
now, well now it's a dream come true."
"I can see that and I wish you the best," Marisa
smiled when she noticed Lucy flinch. "Lucy what is
it? What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Lucy said pressing her hand to her abdomen,
"the twins are just a little active that's all."
"You sure?"
"Positive," Lucy nodded, "let's do this."
"Okay," Marisa agreed looking forward.
"After you," Lucy decided taking in another breath.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin stood a bit impatiently as he watched Eve and
Ellen walk down the isle. He glanced over at Chris
and noticed the way his eyes lit up when Eve walked
into the room. Eve winked over in Chris' direction
before moving to take her seat. Ellen followed doing
a similar gesture with Matt and soon, soon the time
would come when Lucy would enter the room. The music
changed and Kevin noticed Scott looked a bit pale as
Serena and TJ waved at him.
Scott's eyes moved to the entrance as Marisa walked
down the isle looking as beautiful as ever. The smile
on her face said it all and in that instant his nerves
ceased to take over and he remembered the reason why
he'd fallen in love with her in the first place. She
was beautiful, completely amazing and soon, she'd be
his wife.
Shortly after Marisa's entrance, Lucy followed and
Kevin found his own heart stand still. This was it.
This was really it, he thought to himself and he felt
a sense of pride knowing that this was the one moment
he'd waited his entire life for. He was going to be
married to the love of his life, the only woman who'd
ever touched his life so completely. His Lucy. With
every step she took he found himself falling more in
love with him and he hadn't imagined that would be
possible, but here he was loving her all the more as
their time to be together as man and wife approached.
Marisa stepped ahead and took her place beside Scott
as he mouthed the words 'I love you' to her. She
smiled accepting his arm as they moved aside allowing
Lucy to approach the altar.
Kevin stepped forward with a smile on his face as his
Lucy approached him.
"Doc," she smiled behind tears as he reached for her
hand realizing that soon all his dreams would be
coming true.
"You look beautiful Lucy," he whispered as the
preacher stepped up in front of both couples bringing
about an end to the music as a silence filled the air.
He looked to both couples before nodded.
"Dearly beloved," he started as he looked among the
crowd, "we are gathered her today to celebrate the
union of......"
"Oh..." Lucy gasped.
"Is something wrong?" the preacher asked looking to
her.
"Oh no.....no.....no, no, no," she shook her head, "Go
on."
".....today we are gathered here to witness the union
of...." The preacher began again as Lucy let out a
slight wimper.
"Lucy, what is it?" Kevin questioned turning to face
her as he noticed her tightened features.
"It's nothing Doc," she said turning to the preacher,
"Just continue..." she waved to him feeling another
pain.
"I don't think it's nothing Lucy," Scott commented
looking to his friend as the church grew silent.
"Scott's right. Lucy what's going on?" Kevin
questioned again touching her cheek.
"Doc," she said in between breaths, "I think.....no, I
take that back, I know I'm in labor."
"You're in labor?" Kevin repeated his jaw dropping in
astonishment as he reached out to her, "Are you sure?"
"Trust me on this one Doc, a woman knows these kind of
things," She said turning back to the preacher. "Can
we just continue?"
"My today seems to bringing quite a few surprises
doesn't it?" Chris remarked to Eve offhandedly
watching the scene unfold.
"Maybe we should take you to the hospital," Kevin
suggested placing his arm around her.
"No!" She hissed, "No Doc, we can't do that. We're
getting married today and I don't care what we have to
do to make that happen, but it's going to happen."
"But Lucy......the babies...." Kevin began.
"You know how labor can be," she said seeing all the
worried eyes upon her, "it can take serveral hours,"
she said feeling another contraction hit her harder,
far to fast too soon as she nearly collapsed into
Kevin's arms.
"That's it Lucy, we're getting you to the hospital,"
Marissa said pulling off her veil and moving over to
inspect her friend.
"No, we can't.....we just can't....." Lucy explained
trying to keep her breathing under control, "we have
to do this," she looked to Kevin, "we just have to do
this....Doc....."
"Lucy I don't think that....." Kevin said as she let
out another groan. He picked her up and held her in
his arms, "that's it we're getting you out of here."
"No Doc, no," She shook her head in refusal,
"please.....please.....there's nothing I want more
than to be Mrs. Kevin Collins before these two are
brought into the world."
"But Lucy," Kevin started turning to Scott and the
preacher who'd been talking to one another. "Is there
any way we can continue this at a quicker pace here?"
"Well I'm sure we could but......" the preacher began
as Lucy let out a groan.
"I don't think there's time to stick around for long
drawn out answers," Scott added reaching for Marissa's
hand as he looked to the preacher, "let's do this."
"Of course," the man continued continuing with the
ceremony at a much quicker pace. As it came time to
exchange vows he looked to Kevin, who was still
hanging on to Lucy.
"Lucy, I have loved you for so very long and in
finding you I found a part of myself that I'd been
missing and never thought I'd be able to find in this
world," he said touching her cheek, "and now knowing
that I'm going to have the honor of spending the rest
of my life with you, well it's something that I'm
going to cherish every moment of my life always
reminding you how deep my love is for you," he
finished.
"Doc," Lucy began behind clenched teeth, "I've waited
for this for so........so.....long and now that it's
really here and it's happening, well it's the best
dream come true. Not only am I being allowed to live
my life with the man I love, but I'm also being given
the chance to have my dreams coming true with the one
man who truly had held my heart and knows me loving me
despite my faults in every way possible," she paused
taking in a breath, "Doc.......I love you so much and
being your wife and the mother of your children is the
best thing I could've hoped for in this world......"
she said with another pause as she sank into Kevin.
Scott and Marisa quickly exchanged vows while Kevin
looked to the paster pleadingly knowing that Lucy was
far too much along to hold out much longer.
"Lucy and Kevin, Scott and Marisa, today you've
declared your consent and your vows before God and
these witnesses. These four have given themselves to
each other by their solemn vows, by the joining of
hands, by the giving of rings, I now announce to you
that they are in God's eyes and the eyes of the
church, husband and wife. In the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, those whom
God has joined, let no one separate. Amen." the
priest finished turning to the group, "You may kiss
your brides."
With that Scott kissed Marisa as Kevin took Lucy into
his arms ready to take her to the hospital.
"I love you Doc," Lucy said kissing him as he held her
in his arms.
"I love you too Lucy," he said with a smile as the
realization that she was his wife dawned in on him at
last.
"Can you believe it really happened?" she asked behind
a smile. "We're married at last."
"That we are," Kevin smiled kissing her again.
Marisa looked to Scott giving him one last kiss.
"Honey I'll be right back," she explained looking to
Lucy.
"I'll be right here waiting," Scott smiled at his new
wife as she took a look at Lucy.
"I called the ambulance and it's on it's way," Eve
explained stepping up to see Lucy in Kevin's arms
letting out another pained cry.
"Somehow I don't think we're going to have time to
make it to the hospital Eve," Marisa explained, "it
looks like these two have decided to make their grand
entrance into the world in a few short minutes."
"What?" Lucy questioned in disbelief, "you've got to
be kidding......" she turned to Kevin, "Doc, we can't
have them here right in front of half the town like
this.....we can't......"
"You can use my office," the pastor spoke up as Lucy
started to have a panic attack.
"His office? Oh Doc, we can't possibly have our
babies here Doc....." Lucy said in between breaths.
"It looks like you don't have much of a choice Lucy,"
Marisa said seriously, "these two are on their way."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What could be taking so long?" Scott questioned as he
paced in the hallway outside of the preacher's office.
"These things just don't happen within a matter of
second Scott," Eve reminded him bluntly, "it's not
exactly an easy thing to do."
"I know that," He rolled his eyes at her as he moved
towards the door, "I just don't understand why we're
not hearing anything. We should at least be hearing
Lucy cursing Kevin for ever getting her pregnant to
begin with."
"The room is soundproof," Chris added quickly.
"And just how would you know Ramsey?" Scott questioned
looking at him.
"Just trust me on it," Chris said with a knowing grin
pulling Eve over to his side, "isn't it baby?"
"Chris....." she said in a slightly scolding tone as
she lowered her voice slightly, "I thought we weren't
going to make a public display of that."
"Well, what can I say? There seems to be a lot of
action going on in that room today," Chris winked back
at her.
"Oh god, this is another case of too much
information," Scott grumbled looking at the two of
them, "I'm going to pretend I never heard that."
"It wasn't meant for your ears Baldwin, so why dont
oyu get lost or something," Chris suggested drawing
Eve in for a kiss, "you know this might take a while.
Perhaps we should find another place to slip away for
a while...just the two of us."
"Feeling another sin coming on?" she asked with a
deliciously wicked grin.
"About half a dozen of them," He said his smile
widening as he kissed her again before taking her
hand, "come on. Let's go."
"After you handsome," she said squeezing his hand as
Victor appeared.
"Any word on Lucy yet?" Victor questioned standing
before Chris and Eve.
"Nothing yet, but I'm sure we'll hear something soon,"
Eve said as Matt emerged from the preacher's office.
"Matt," Victor started moving over to her, "what's
going on in there?"
"Lucy's just given birth to a boy and the other one is
on it's way," Matt explained to Victor.
"A boy? A boy? You mean I have a grandson?" He asked
with a proud smile. "I have a grandson."
"Congradulations Victor," Scott said shaking his hand.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Doc, tell me.....how does he look?" Lucy asked trying
to get a peek at her son as she felt another pain rush
through her.
"He's perfect in every way imaginable," Kevin
explained still holding her hand as he glanced over at
their son, "he's got ten little toes and ten perfect
fingers."
"Oh Doc......I can't wait to see him," she said
listening to the sounds of his tiny cries as she felt
another need to push.
"Okay you're doing fine Lucy," Marisa said, "I'm
seeing a head here and if you can just give me one
more push....."
"I'm trying," Lucy said behind gritted teeth,"I'm
really trying."
"You're doing just fine Lucy," Kevin replied brushing
a strand of hair from her eyes, "I love you."
"I love you too Doc," she said as she let out another
push and moments later she heard the sounds of dual
crying in the air.
"It's a girl," Marisa announced as she and Ellen
worked together wrapping the second child up.
"A girl?" Lucy repeated looking to her friend.
"That's right Lucy. You've just given birth to a
beautiful little girl and a handsome little boy,"
Marisa explained bringing the small child over to
Lucy, "would you like to hold your daughter?"
"Would I ever," she said as she took her daughter into
her arms, "oh Doc....she's perfect...absolutely
perfect....."
Kevin looked to her with tears in his eyes as he saw
his daughter in her arms, "She's truly a miracle
Lucy."
"Our little miracle," Lucy added touching her
daughter's face as Ellen approached Kevin.
"Would you like to hold your son?" Ellen asked handing
over the child to him.
"My son," Kevin said looking down to his child as he
held him close to him overcome with a sense of pride
as the tears filled in his eyes. He leaned in closer
to Lucy giving her a look at both of their children.
"We did it Doc......" She said behind her tears.
"We sure did," he smiled, "We're a family now."
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Marisa opened the door to the preacher's office and
stepped out into the hallway to the group awaiting
news.
"Lucy's just given birth to a healthy set of twins. A
boy and a girl and now mother and children are going
to be taken over to the hospital," she looked to Eve,
"has the ambulance arrived yet?"
"They just got here," Eve nodded, "Chris and I will go
tell them that she's ready."
"Thank you," Marisa smiled looking to Victor, "Kevin
and Lucy are both asking for the grandfather in
there."
"You mean I can see them?" He asked his eyes lighting
up.
"Of course you can," she nodded opening the door for
him to go inside as she looked to Scott.
"You did good today," he said stepping towards his new
wife, "For a few minutes there I wasn't sure what was
going to happen in all of the excitement."
"Neither was I, but I think it turned out okay," she
said with a smile.
"More than okay Marisa," Scott smiled kissing her, "I
love you Mrs. Baldwin."
"I love you too," she said softly, "you know Lucy was
asking for you in there too."
"She was?" Scott questioned as Marisa nodded.
"Come on," Marisa said taking his hand and leading him
inside as he saw Kevin and Victor around the small
couch with Lucy and the children at their sides.
"Pal," Lucy smiled at him looking between Scott and
Marisa, "Doc and I wanted to invite you in here to
meet our family."
"They're beautiful Lucy," Scott said stepping forward
as his wife stood by his side taking in the moment
with him. He looked at the children thinking about
how they could've been his, but as he turned to
Marisa, he realized that he was glad that fate had
turned things around as it had for him. His future
was right beside him as Lucy held hers in her arms.
"I'd like you to meet Dominique Lynne Collins," Lucy
said with a proud smile.
"Dominique," Scott repeated as tears filled in his
eyes, "oh she's beautiful Lucy."
"Would you like to hold her?" Lucy questioned hating
to give her daughter to someone else as she turned her
over to Scott, "Doc and I agreed we couldn't find a
more beautiful name for her. It seemed right."
"She's incredible," Scott replied holding the small
infant close to him as Lucy and Kevin held their son.
"And this little guy here grandpa is Kyle Victor
Collins," Lucy explained as Victor's eyes grew wide.
"We wanted to give him a name to be proud of," Kevin
replied looking to his father, "I couldn't think of a
better man that my own father."
"Kevin, I'm honored," Victor said touching his
grandson overwhelmed with a sense of pride, "hello
Kyle.....grandpa's here."
Lucy smiled looking to Kevin and for the first time in
her life found herself feeling a sense of
completeness, "I love you Doc."
"I love you Lucy," he said with tears in his eyes as
Scott returned Dominique into his arms, "and you know
that its only going to grow stronger as time goes on."
"We have our family now Doc," she added as a tear fell
from her eye, "our own dream come true."
"That we do Lucy and now," he said leaning in to kiss
her, "now is the part where you and I get to spend of
the rest of our lives in our happily ever after."
"I can't wait," she replied as she looked between her
husband and her two infants knowing that life couldn't
be more perfect than it was in this moment now that
they were together at last.
MEANWHILE SITTING IN A JAIL CELL ACROSS TOWN.....
"I can't believe this happened to me," Ryan spat out
in disgust looking around the tiny holding cell, "I
shouldn't be stuck here like this in this place. I
was not meant to be behind bars."
"Oh put a sock in it Ryan," Angel snapped at him from
her adjoining cell, "do you think it's any picnic
being stuck here with you, you big baby?"
"You know if you weren't over there and I wasn't over
here, I'd make you pay for those hasty words coming
from your mouth."
"Take your best shot big boy," Angel challenged
getting up and stepping towards him, "What are you
going to do to me, huh?"
"Come closer and I'll show you," he said motioning for
her to move nearer to him.
"Well?" she questioned as he reached through the bars
seizing her hair and pulling her against the cold,
metal bars.
"I told you to shut your mouth," he said harshly
meeting her eyes as he yanked on her hair again, "but
you couldn't just do that, could you?" he asked his
voice seething with a rage as his eyes fell to her
dark lips, "and now you leave me no choice, but to
shut it for you," he explained further pressing his
own face to the bars and giving her a rough kiss.
Breathlessly Angel broke away stepping back as she
looked him over, "Oh how I love you Ryan," she said
reaching out to him again through the bars.
"I love you too baby," he said with a wicked grin
slipping his hand down her prison shirt and pulling
out the keys he'd seen her swipe from the guard
earlier.
"Hey," she protested as he drew back moving over to
the lock, "the least you could do was say thank you.
You could've asked you know."
"I could've but where's the fun in that," he said
popping open the lock to his cell and stepping outside
of it, "besides you're the reason we're stuck here in
the first place."
"So you're just going to leave me here?" she
questioned with an angry glare as he stood before her
cell. "you're just going to walk away and leave me."
"The thought had crossed my mind," he admitted
hesitating for a moment before opening the door to her
cell, "but I'm not ready to get rid of you just yet."
"I knew you liked keeping me around," she replied
drawing her arms around him and pulling him forward
for a deep kiss, "so what's next on the agenda baby?
Busting up the wedding perhaps?"
"We could, but then again, let's make them think
they've gotten the best of us....at least until we're
ready to strike back," Ryan explained with a seething
grin, "but mark my words Angel, they haven't seen the
last of us. It's far from over."
