"I can't do this'' Eve said ''I am sorry Kevin but I just cannot renew our vows because I would not really be doing it with my whole heart.'' Kevin looked at her with those smoldering brown eyes that, it seemed, no woman, until now, could say no to. ''Why what happened? This is what you wanted--no insisted--we do. Why the sudden 180?'' Crying now Eve said softly so only Kevin could hear and she prayed that he would NOT overreact like he did at the 1998 attempt he had with Lucy. ''I...uh...am...not..in love with you anymore Kevin. I have fallen in love with someone else. I am so sorry.'' ''Ian right?'' Kevin said after a long pause that seemed to last years. ''How did you--?'' Eve began. ''Lucy suspected. and the more I thought about the rush to renew the vows and how you looked at Ian the other day confirmed it. I just wanted you to admit it to me.'' Across town in a spacious house that looked out over the Port Charles Bay stood Lucy in her ratty pink bathrobe, looking out the window at the harbor. Her prized pet duck Sigmund was playing in the yard in the wadding pool she had set up for him as a substitiute for the duck pond at their former home, the Lighthouse. All in all he seemed content about splashing about in a plastic pool that was about 1/2 the the size of the duck pond. ''Oh Siggy. at least your happy thoughts have not been scarred by daddy's
lies and the midlife crisis he is involved in with Eve. When he thought
that Eve was dead and he was free to be with me and love me he made love
to me and told me I was the only person he could turn to when his world
was falling apart. I believe he called it his home.'' Lucy said out loud.
Kevin could not believe what he just heard. Eve was standing there accusing HIM of cheating when she was with Ian when she swore to him that she loved him and only him. What a joke! Kevin told himself he would never be put in that situation again. Grace put him though that with the guilt about the accident, and Lucy UNINTENTIONALLY when she and Scott made love in Florida. ''Kevin say something. Defend Lucy like you usually do.'' Eve said baiting him. Unable to control himself anymore he raised his hand and slapped Eve across the face--hard! His eyes were burning with anger. ''How DARE you talk about Lucy like that. She helped you when you were going through the amnesia thing. She was a good friend to you. You even admitted that she had a good heart--'' ''Here we go!'' Eve said sarcastically. ''SHUT UP EVE! You hate her that is fine! She is not that fond of you. But she is TRYING to make an effort and as for the matter of who seduced who into bed while you were gone. It was not Lucy. She tried to stop me until it felt right for me. It never felt MORE right. Yes that is right little girl I did all the seducing.'' Kevin screamed at her holding her by the arms but not in a loving way ''You got that?'' ''Let go of me Kevin! If you don't I will be sure to press charges against you for assault.'' Eve said confidently. Thinking she finally had the upper hand in controlling the situation and Kevin's outburst. ''Wouldn't be the first time a woman did that! Only this time I was not in a fugue-like state! Variety! Good-bye Eve! It has been fun!'' Kevin said sarcastically but his face was anything but sarcastic. It was serious and begging for help. Before it was too late. Chapter 2
She knew the marriage was a sham in her mind. But in her heart she wanted and believed that it was real. Ari had fallen in love with Ian. He was the only one that had been nice to her since she had come to Port Charles. But he really loved Eve and really wanted to be with her. This gave Ari an idea. She knew about Eve and Dr. Collins' vow renewal ceremony at the lighthouse that night. She was invited and was sort of friends with Eve. ''Ian, let's go out tonight? It won't look good for our case if we are always at home. I always thought that people in America when married went and did stuff together.'' Ari said. ''Woman, if you are suggestin' that we go to the Lighthouse for the ceremony you got another think comin'.'' Ian laughed. ''Come on Ian! Eve is my friend. Kind of. Besides, I have never seen an American wedding other than our RUSHED one before. Please? I promise to be good!'' Ari answered laughing at the last part. ''Ari listen to me please! I don't want to go!'' Ian shouted louder than he meant to. ''Why?'' Ari said. ''It is because I love Eve and I am afraid I am going to ruin her life that she has chosen with Kevin and I cannot do that. I don't work that way. Plus, if I acted on my emotions and left you, you would be deported, and Ben would have free reign on your life and I cannot have that either.'' Ian said. 'Woman, I wish I could do both. Be with Eve and save you at the same time. But we both know that is impossible.'' ''Okay. We won't go.'' Ari said. After that she walked into her room
and locked the door.
Lucy was lying on the couch staring blankly off into space. She was so confused about the whole relationship thing she had with Kevin. Actually she didn't know if she had one with him. That is what made it so painful. Kevin could turn his feelings for her on and off just like that without a care as to how she felt. She was not part of his world anymore. That title belonged to the hussy that wormed her way into his heart on their wedding day back in 1998. When she was back at the lighthouse when they thought that Eve had died she stole back the photo album that she left there that night. Somehow the wedding pictures that were taken before the ceremony of her and her Doc in their outfits. Him in his tux and her in her gown, made their way into the book. Victor! He probably did it. She was looking at the album when she noticed the writing underneath the picture of them under the oak tree outside the church, it read: ''LUCY NEVER LOOKED MORE BEAUTIFUL''--K'001. So it wasn't Victor it was KEVIN who put them in there. There was one envelope in the album and it was marked simply ''Lucy.'' Tearing it down the side she opened the envelope and read the following: JULY 27, 2001 MY DEAREST LUCY, I HAD A FEELING YOU WOULD TAKE THIS FROM THE LIGHTHOUSE. AS FOR THE WEDDING PICTURES, I PUT THEM IN HERE, NOT VICTOR. HE WANTED TO. BUT I BEAT HIM TO IT. LOOKING BACK ON THAT DAY AND THE WAY I TREATED YOU, YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO WALK OUT ON ME! I SHOULD HAVE STAYED AND LISTENED TO YOU THAT DAY INSTEAD OF STORMING OUT LIKE I USUALLY DO. THINGS WOULD BE DIFFERENT. I MISS SIGGY'S QUACK AND HEARING THE SWEET SOUND OF YOUR VOICE ECHOING THROUGH OUT THE LIGHTHOUSE. EVERYTIME I LOOK AT YOU OR A PICTURE OF YOU, YOU ALWAYS TAKE MY BREATH AWAY. She decided to write him back. With tears in her eyes she pulled out a piece of her favorite gold wreathed stationary and wrote... July 28, 2001 My Dearest Doctor Collins, You were right I did take the album from the Lighthouse. I am flattered that you think that on our wedding day I never looked more beautiful. However, on the inside, I felt anything but beautiful. When you yelled at me and beraited me, I felt ugly and like the woman that I swore I would not become. In a way, the way you handled the situation, served as a kind of wake-up call. I am in a way thankful. Siggy says Hi. He misses you too. You know we really need to get together and talk sometime just you and just me. I love you Doc and I have never stopped. Do you realize that today is the anniversary of the day that we lost our baby? When she finished writing the note she was crying and she did not notice that their was a knock at the door. Picking up the album, she went to the door and sniffed a couple times to regain some kind of control. She opened the door and she found Livvie standing on the other side. Livvie could tell right away that something was wrong with Lucy, but from experience she would wait for Lucy to bring it up first. She watched Lucy go over to the couch and open up the album and look at the pictures that are on the page. She was crying and running her hand over the pictures as if she was trying to capture something out of the pictures that she had lost and that she desperately wanted back. Livvie knew of one thing, Kevin. But what Livvie did not know was that Lucy was looking at pictures of the sonogram of Kevin and her baby and reliving the pain of miscarrying their baby exactly 4 years ago. Something just would not let her let go of the event. ''Lucy?'' Livvie asked sitting next to Lucy.''Are you alright? I have never seen you like this before.'' ''You see this picture? Do you know what this is a picture of?'' Lucy asked Livvie avoiding her question. ''Yeah it's a sono. Why?'' Livvie asked confused. ''It's a sonogram of the baby that me and Doc were going to have in 1997 but I miscarried because I was not doing everything I should have. It is my fault that I lost our baby.'' Lucy said with tears in her voice.''Kevin said that it isn't my fault but I know better. The one thing I wanted most in the world and I KILLED HIM!'' ''No, Lucy you are not responsible for the loss of your baby boy. and look at me. I am sure you DID do everything you could and should have done'' Livvie began, holding Lucy's trembling hand, trying to calm her down. ''That is just it Livvie. I DIDN'T! See we were looking for Serena and I refused to eat, sleep,or anything. Girl your dad was worried. I guess I did not have my priorities straight. That is why I lost Simon, our baby.'' Livvie who was desperate to change the subject remembered that she needed earrings to go with her outfit. She had a date with Jack that night. ''Lucy? Do you have earrings I could borrow? Before you answer, I should tell you that Eve and Dad did not renew their vows.'' ''Up in my room in my jewel box. Help yourself.'' Lucy said distracted. Livvie's words had not sunk in yet. ''Thanks'' ''Yeah, sure.'' Then it hit Lucy what Livvie said. ''EVE AND DAD DID NOT RENEW THEIR VOWS'' Leaping from the couch she followed Livvie up the stairs and opens the door to her room-- ''Livvie did you mean it when you said....'' Lucy stopped short when she realized what Livvie was holding. Her bright eyes turned grey and sad. ''Lucy what is this.'' ''THAT is the ring I was supposed to give your father on our wedding day in 1998. Oh gosh, you didn't know we were engaged. Did you? Here is the ring HE gave me.'' Lucy said pulling out a ring with a delicate diamond on a chain from under her shirt. ''I still wear it because we never really CANCELLED the wedding we mearly POSTPONED it.'' ''What do you mean that you and my dad were ALMOST married? Why didn't you go through with the ceremony?'' Livvie asked curiously.''Lucy you are going to have to tell me because obviously I was not there.'' ''Livvie. Your dad and I were thisclose to getting married. In fact we were at the altar. You know the part where the minister says 'Does anyone have just cause as to why these two people should not be joined in marriage speak now or forever hold his peace'?'' Lucy asked. ''Yeah.'' Livvie answered. ''Well that is where things sorta took a 180 really fast. Eve had 'just cause' for why me and Doc could not be married.'' Lucy said the anger building up in her remembering that day.''You want to know what her excuse was?'' ''I am sure it was not one that could carry much weight if it was EVE making the accusation. What did she say Lucy?'' ''You might want to sit down for this one because I have to tell you the story from the beginning.'' Lucy said. Getting up from the bed she went over to the dresser and put the box back in the jewel case as she was trying to figure out how to word what she was about to say. Turning around she smiled weakly and began what was the most painful monologue in history. ''Okay here it goes. It is not a secret that me and Eve are enemies. But this whole thing started over my surrogate daughter Serena. You see Evie was dating Scott at the time and I was worried that she was going to take my place as the mother figure in Serena's life. I am the only mother that Rena has ever known. True she knows about Dominique but I am the one that takes care of her. Anyway, one day I go over to the firehouse and pick up Rena for LadyBug's. if she would have calmly said plans have changed and I am taking Serena
to LadyBug's today. But instead she was really vain about it and basically
slammed the door in my face. To make a long story short. When she took
Rena to dancing class another time, when she got back I, stupidly, siphoned
gas out of her car and ended up being part of the accident that cost my
Rena her sight. Eve had camera stills to prove it was me. That is why Doc
left me at the altar.''
Eve walked into the On Call Room and realized that she should clean herself up before she reported to work. She decided since she and Kevin were not getting married she might as well make herself useful and be on call. Picking up a pair of maroon scrubs she went into the bathroom and changed out of her wedding dress and once in the scrubs actually felt a little bit better. She left the dress where it lay on the floor figuring that was the best place for the symbol of her old life. Once Gabi noticed that it was Eve sitting there she had a feeling that all was not well in paradise. First off Eve had a bruse on her face that was beginning to turn black and blue. True it was just on her right cheek but to Gabi and Joe a bruise is a bruise. ''Eve what happened to your cheek? You look like you had a fight with the wall and the wall sort of won.'' Joe said.''Have you been looked at? And by the way why aren't you on your 2nd honeymoon with Kevin?'' ''No I haven't been checked out. I stopped the ceremony and Kevin freaked out. Seriously you guys I have never seen him like that. I made one 'bad' comment about Lucy and he slapped me across the face.'' Eve said trying to stay calm.''But hey that was kind of a good thing, not going through with it again because---'' ''Because why'' Gabi urged ''Guys all of a sudden I don't feel so good. twin sister. I am seeing double.'' was all Eve said before she collapsed.
Once he was able to convince Ari that it was best not to go to the renewal, Ian suggested that they go to the Recovery Room for dinner. Ari could not say no. She had been there only twice before. The first time was the Valentine's day party when Ben was still in the country. The second time was when she picked up an order for Ian and ran into Lucy. Ari liked Lucy. ''When do you want to leave?'' Ari asked. ''Anxious much?'' Ian teased.''It is 5:00 now. You game for an early dinner? My treat.'' ''Well since you put it that way.'' Ari laughed.''How can I refuse.'' 15 minutes later.... ''IAN! ARIANNA! What a surprise!'' Victor Collins called out from behind the bar. ''Hey Victor. How you doing tonight? Why aren't you at the Lighthouse?'' Ari could not resist asking that right in front of Ian.''You ARE Kevin's father right?'' ''Yes, I am. But why would I be at the Lighthouse when no one else is there? I don't live there anymore.'' Desperate to change the subject, Ian spoke up.''Victor have you been working on that subject I asked you about?'' Confused for a second Victor gave Ian a strange look. Then he smiled and said,''Yes, my boy I have. Shall I tell you what I have acheived. I think Arianna has a right to hear about it.'' ''Yeah you're right.'' Ian agreed. Turning to Ari, Ian led her to a chair,''Okay remember how I was going to help you get a new life, complete with a new identity and all that?'' ''Yes'' ''That is what Victor has been working on for me, getting a place, id, and life ready for you.'' Ian said. ''Things are all set Arianna. As soon as possible we would like to getyou with your new family and new life.'' Victor said. Ari said nothing.
''But enough about the past. I heard you say something about Evie and Doc not going through with the ceremony. Is this true Livvie are you absolutely sure about this?'' Lucy asked. ''Lucy I would not lie to you about something that I know you want so desperately. But there is something else you should know about the ceremony. Dad was not exactly himself. He did things that I didn't think he was capable of doing to anyone. He scared me Lucy. I feel like an idiot for being scared of my own father but at the time I was. He was like this totally different person.'' Livvie said. ''What did he do? Tell me the truth Livvie. He has done things like this before. I need to know EXACTLY what he did.'' Lucy pleaded. ''Okay. Eve was ranting about your and Dad's tryst on the floor of the lighthouse and putting you down in a major way. The Collins part of me could tell that he was getting really pissed. He kept defending you and Eve kept getting angrier and I guess dad had enough and slapped her across the face. He said something about if she presses charges for assault it won't be the first time. And at least he was not in a fugue like state. Lucy WHAT was he talking about?'' ''Livvie. Go to your father. I promise I will explain later. Tell him
to meet me at the lighthouse very soon. I don't know where he could have
taken off to. Check his office, the PCPD and if necessary Mac's house okay.

~Day after day I'm more confused
Across town at his best friend Mac's house Kevin was really in trouble. He was out of control again. But there was one difference this time. He did not have her. He did not have LUCY. Lucy helped him through Jasmine Island and everything else he put her through and yet loved him unconditionally. He did not deserve her. But he did love her too. And in the end that is what brought him back that night on the island. Mac had to leave to go to the PCPD so Kevin was all alone. Mac trusted him to not do anything too stupid while he was gone. Just then there was a knock on the door and Kevin went to answer it. ''Livvie, what are you doing here? How did you find me?'' Kevin asked. ''Dad, Lucy is worried about you. Can I come in and I will explain.'' the young woman answered. ''Yes of course come in.'' ''I told her about what happened tonight. She is worried. She asked me to give you this.'' Livvie said handing the letter to Kevin who took it with trembling fingers. Opening the envelope he started to read...

Kevin entered the lighthouse and found Lucy curled up on the couch -
asleep. She looked so peaceful, that he did not want to disturb her. Just
then, however, she opened her eyes and smiled at him. She motioned for
him to come right by her on the floor. So he got on both knees, so he could
be at her level. Once there, she grabbed his hands, reassuringly as if
to say, 'You are NOT alone'.
''Livvie told me some of it. But I want to hear ALL of it from you. Doc what made you loose control again?'' Lucy asked. ''Lucy, look in my eyes, the answer you are searching for is there.'' Kevin said not ready to admit what really happened. Looking closely Lucy tried but she could not find what her sweet Doc was telling her was there. ~Oh, give me the beat boys and free my soul
''I don't see it, Doc. Honest I don't.'' Getting angry now, Kevin grabs her and yells,''DO NOT LIE TO ME LUCY!!'' Fighting to get away, she retreats and says in a quiet voice, ''I'm

Lucy has an idea! ''While I am looking why don't you tell me about what happened yesterday?'' ~Beginning to think that I'm wasting time
Looking at Lucy, Kevin fought the urge to break down then and there. But if he did, all points of having to tell Lucy what happened with Eve would be worthless. He would just be validating what Livvie told Lucy earlier. Silently calming himself down as much as he could, he took Lucy's hand more firmly in his and said.''I lost control again Lucy. Now I know what you are thinking. Is this Jasmine Island all over again? The answer honestly I do not know if it is to that magnitude yet. What I DO know is that it was started by Eve putting you down every chance she had. Whenever something went wrong -even when you were not involved- she would blame you! I kept telling her to knock it off, but she kept at it. She even did it at the non-wedding yesterday. She said 'Go ahead defend Lucy like you usually do.' That is when I snapped. I slapped her across the face Lucy. I only see one way out of this. I am admitting myself into the General Hospital Psychiatric Ward tonight.'' ''Ohmigod! Doc I see it now! And let me tell you something pal. If you think you are going to do this alone you are damn wrong! I am going with you. But before we go I have something to ask you. It is important.'' Lucy said. ''What is it?'' ''Doc, you know how much I love you. And you know that I believe that we have been together forever. In fact we are joined at the heart. That is why I cannot let you do this alone. Doc, will you marry me?'' ''Are you sure you want to do this?'' Kevin asked. ''Never been more sure in my life.'' ''Yes! Lucy I will and I WANT to marry you.'' Later that same day.... Lucy walked into the OCR with a spring in her step. When she had called
Eve earlier she had said that her test results had come back. She was relieved
to see that Eve was in the room. She HAD to know what the results were.
Then she had to get ready for the biggest event of her life.
Eve looked up at her friend. Smiling she held out an envelope with Lucy's name on it.''Lucy, I think you should sit down and read it for yourself.'' ''Is it that bad?'' ''JUST READ IT GIRL!'' As she read it Lucy's eyes got wider and wider. She could not believe what she was reading. Could it really be true? She looked over at Eve who nodded. ''I ran the test four times just to make sure because I know how much this means to you Lucy. You are going to be a Mommy.'' ''You haven't told Doc have you?'' ''No.'' ''Good because I am going to tell him in about 15 minutes at the little get together we are having downstairs.'' Lucy said. ''Eve would it be possible for you to tell me how far I am right now?'' ''I guess so. Do you really have to know that too before the wedding?'' Eve asked. ''YES! I am working Baby into the vows. We are doing this ceremony quick for a reason Eve. And I am telling him about the baby for the SAME reason.'' ''Alright. Let's get this over with.'' ''Thanks.'' ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 15 minutes later.... Kevin is up in the front of the small hospital chapel with Victor. Victor is there to officiate the ceremony. Ian is with them as Kevin's best man. Kevin had misgivings about it but Lucy insisted, and Kevin could never deny Lucy anything so he gave in. In the third row sat a young woman and her young daughter. Kevin knew who they where. Ryan's widow, Bethany and his child, 1 year old Tyffani. Bethany smiled at her brother-in-law and mouthed the words 'I love you, brother.' Tyffani just smiled the cutest smile and said as best she could, ''Keevi'' Bethany laughed. Just then Eve entered the room, and walked down the aisle and took her place opposite Ian and Kevin. Then on the arm of Alan Quartermaine, Lucy came down the aisle and took Kevin's breath away. ''Pretty lady'' Tyffani said. Everybody smiled. This was the most causal wedding that any of them had ever been to. Once Lucy got to Kevin he took her hand and said, ''I agree with Tyffani, VERY pretty lady indeed.'' ''Thank you Doc, but you needn't sweet talk me to get what you want on the honeymoon we are going to take after you get out of the hospital.'' Lucy grinned giving hima kiss on the cheek. Victor was just standing there waiting to join his son and the love of his life in marriage. It was recently discovered that Victor was a Justice of the Peace. And when Lucy called him earlier, he was more than willing to preside over the wedding. ''Dearest friends and family. We are gathered to join Kevin Marcus Collins and Lucinda Dawn Coe in marriage. Kevin and Lucy have written their own vows. Kevin why don't you start.'' Turning to Lucy, Kevin began.''Lucinda Dawn, I don't know when there was a time that I was not in love with you. We have been through so much and you have stuck by me in the good times as well as the bad times. There was many a time in my life when I didn't want a family or anyone to care about me for that matter, until I met you. You came into my life and changed it forever. There were times when I didn't think that we were meant for each other. But you didn't give up on that love or us. You fought for me when I couldn't fight for myself, and you made me realize that when I am with you I am the most alive. You showed me how to love and what true love is. You are my life, my love and most of all you are my best friend. I know that my life is not complete without you in it. So today I give to you completely, my love, my heart, and our life together. Then whispered,''forever'' Looking deep into Kevin's eyes Lucy said her vows.''Kevin Marcus.I love you and I will always be here for you during your ups and your downs. Especially for your downs. When we met on February 17, 1994 you held my heart hostage that day and you still do. I know that our baby will be what makes our little family complete. I love you more than life itself.'' ''Thank you Lucy now repeat after me, With this ring I thee wed.'' ''With this ring I thee wed'' Lucy said and slipped the band on Kevin's finger. Then she whispered,''forever and always.'' ''Ladies and Gentlemen may I introduce to you Dr. and Mrs. Kevin Collins.'' Tyffani clapped and said,''Ya!'' Bethany whistled and cheered,''Way to go Kevin and Lucy!'' Lucy looked at Eve and said,''Thank you for being my matron of honor. We threw this thing together so fast you were the first one I thought of.'' Sort of suprised, Eve replied, ''Really? I thought you would have had Felicia on speed dial!'' Laughing Lucy replied,''Actually to be honest I called her and Maxie told me she was working and since you and I are sort of friends I just thought..'' ''You're welcome already!'' Eve said as she hugged Lucy.''Congratulations.'' ''Thank you. Now if you excuse me I have to go FIND Kevin.'' Lucy said. Kevin was talking to the mystery woman who Lucy did not know. Coming up behind him and wrapping her hands around his middle she reaches up and kisses his neck. ''Honey? Who is this?'' Lucy asks eyeing the woman and the adorable toddler who made her presence known earlier. ''Where are my manners! My name is Dr. Bethany Chamberlain and this is my daughter Tyffani Rayne.'' ''By Chamberlain you don't mean?'' ''Yes I do. I was married to Ryan Dominic Chamberlain. This is his daughter.'' Bethany said trying to calm Tyffani down. ''May I try?'' Lucy asked. ''Be my guest. You are her aunt now, so maybe you can get her calm.'' Bethany reasoned. As soon as Tyffani was in Lucy's arms she calmed right down. With tears in her eyes Lucy looked at Kevin and said,''In about six months we will be doing this with our baby, Doc.'' ''Lucy I cannot wait!'' A few hours after the initmate reception of a few family and friends. Kevin took Lucy to their room. Once they arrive, he opened then door and she proceeds to go in. He stopped her and said,'' We have a
''Which one would that be?'' she said with a smile on her face. He picked her up and carried her across the threshhold and carefully set her on the bed and said very passionately, ''I love you Mrs. Collins.'' ''I love you too Dr. Collins.'' They just laid in each other's arms on the bed and nothing needed to be said because they know what the other was thinking. They both fell asleep and each slept better than they had in months. Late the next morning Kevin is sitting in their room on the bed thinking to himself how lucky he is to have Lucy in his life for good. He looks down at his wedding ring and smiles. He and Lucy are FINALLY husband and wife. he looks over at the woman who is curled up next to him on the bed. He gently reaches over and gives her a kiss. She stirs but doesn't wake up. He just sits there watching her sleep and he brings her close and holds her in his arms. He knows that he can face anything with Lucy by his side. he knew he was in love with her and he made the right decision when he marrried her. She is right where she needs to be, which is right by his side forever. He could never imagine how much he could love someone or be loved by anyone for that matter. He thinks back to the past and he regrets walking out on her the first
time and vows to be by her side everyday for the rest of their lives.
She thinks to herself that she is FINALLY Mrs. Dr. Kevin Collins and all that of her dreams are going to come true. Their eyes meet. Nothing is said because the other one knows what the
other is thinking even before ever saying a single word.
As soon as he put the finishing touches on the room that means SO much to both of them. Ian called the Nurses' Station. Luckily, Colleen, who was helping him with this answered the phone. ''SIxth floor nurses' station.'' Colleen said. ''Colleen could you please page Dr. Lambert to room 611. The surprise I told you about that I am working on for her is finished.'' Ian said, smiling as he thought of Eve's reaction when she walked into see the rose petals and the lit candles through out the room. ''Sure right away.'' Colleen said. ''Thanks.'' Ian said. DR. LAMBERT TO ROOM 611. DR. EVELYN LAMBERT TO ROOM 611 STAT. Laughing to himself, Ian thought, ''Nice touch adding stat Colleen.'' Now all he had to do was get into his place on the bed. He knew Eve was on the third floor. So he did a quick sweep of the room to make sure that everything was perfect. It was. Then he settled himself down in the center of the bed that way he would be one of the first things that she saw. The door knob turned and in walked Eve, thinking it was another patient, said ''What seems to be the...'' Then she noticed the room and Ian on the bed surrounded by candles and roses and rose petals. She shut the door. ''YOU paged me?'' ''Come in Lambert.'' Ian said getting off the bed and going to her. When he got to her, he captured her mouth in his and kissed her with everything he had in his soul. ''Well this is nice.'' Eve thought inwardly. Outloud she said,''What do you want Ian? Should I lock the door and strip again?'' Remembering the last time they were in the room together. It had been as she had told Chris Ramsey, M-A-G-I-C! She wanted to relive that moment again, but with Ian married to Arianna, and Arianna watching her like a hawk, she knew it would be impossible. ''Not that. Sounds tempting though. But I want to know if you would marry me? I love you Lambert and I don't want you for one night I want you for always.'' Ian said looking deep into Eve's eyes. ''But Arianna--'' ''Woman! She has given me my freedom! and she is safe. Victor and I made sure of that. Now. Will you MARRY ME?'' Ian asked again. ''Well duh, Thornhart! You knew the answer going in. HELL YES! Let me see my ring! Oh soulmate of mine! I hate to cut this short but I have to be in the OR to assist in 15 minutes. I will meet you at your loft later and make it up to you.'' Pulling her close for one more passionate kiss, Ian sighed. ''I love you so much, just remember that the day after forever I will be there waiting for you. Now go and scrub up and I will see you later!'' Once she was gone, Ian went back to the hospital bed and laid down with a big smile on his face. It was a smile of sheer bliss. The look of a very happy man. Life was good! ''GOOD JOB BIG BROTHER'' a voice said. ''Granya?'' ''WHO ELSE? YOU ARE A ROMANTIC AFTER ALL. I TOLD PATRICK YOU WERE BUT HE DID NOT BELIEVE ME. LOOKS LIKE I WON. GET READY TO PAY UP BROTHER OF MINE!'' Grinning at his younger sister's spirit Ian replied teasingly,''You have not changed a bit have you Granya? I had a feeling you were in the room. You never could mind your own business when we were growing up.'' ''HEY! AS I RECALL YOU DID NOT MIND IT MUCH BACK THEN!'' ''Yeah well when you are six years old you don't have much to hide. But when you get to be my age, you really should know better. What do you think of Eve?'' ''I LIKE HER. I WISH YOU AND HER EVERY HAPPINESS AND A WONDERFUL LIFE TOGETHER. I LOVE YOU BROTHER. I AM ESPECIALLY GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU ARE FINALLY HAPPY.'' ''I love you too Granya. And thanks. I have to pick up the room and
go on rounds. I miss you. Nice talkin' to you again little sister.''
The spell was broken when there was a knock at the door. Lucy sighed. She was really enjoying the spell that Kevin was putting on her. Kevin was probably enjoying the one she was putting on him. Kevin was actually smiling. He knew who was at the door. It was his gift to Lucy. Actually to be more accurate it was his, Scott's, and Charlene's gift to Lucy. One that she would never forget. ''Lucy I have a very big surprise for you. I think you are going to like this. It is a present from me, Scott and Charlene.'' Kevin said reaching down to capture his wife's lips in his own for one more kiss before Scott, Charlene and Kyle came into the room.''You ready MiLady?'' ''Sir Kevin I was born ready! I cannot take much more of this. Get them in here already. I am 4 months pregnant and trying with not a lot of luck to avoid stress!'' Lucy said. Laughing Kevin called, ''Okay, Scott and Charlene you can come in now. The lady of the hour is ready.'' As they came into the room Lucy got off the bed and in the process the
baby kicked annoyed that mommy changed positions without permission.
She turned to Scott, ''That isn't our...'' ''Baby we had in 1998? Yes Lucy it is. His name is Daniel Kyle.'' Scott said.
