The "Simple" Idol

         One night, the rangers sit around the SPD Headquarters...bored out of their minds. It turns out that Commander Cruger is off for two days on some sort of "important galaxy meeting". But suddenly, a UFO is entering Earth's atmosphere and is on a crash course for the center of town! The five rangers gear up and head off in their zords, but it's too late--the spaceship has crashed. Z identifies it as an SPD ship, and a young man crawls out. His name is Dru, and is Sky's long lost best friend. When taken back to the headquarters, we find out that Dru, originally from the planet Tangar, was assigned to the Nebula academy to complete his training. When on a mission, he was missing in action, one year later, had just now crashed on Earth when he was chasing after a criminal named Zantar.

         Later that night, Jack is startled by Dru, who was wandering around at 4:00am to find Commander Cruger. He orders Sky to send Dru back to his room--"The command center is off limits to all unauthorized personnel." When Sky notes that Dru is from SPD, Jack informs him that Dru needs to be re-evaluated for being MIA for over a year.

         On their walk back to Dru's room, Sky notes that he wants to investigate more into Zantar--records show that he was already arrested and was serving jailtime. Dru informs him that he escaped...but Sky informs him again that Zantar's records show that he is still in the jail. Dru simply informs Sky that he's on a top-secret mission, and walks away. When in his room, Dru transforms into some monster.

         The next day, Jack tries to apologize to Sky, but Sky turns him away. Suddenly, the alarms sound off and the rangers morph to the scene. There is an alien attacking--it's Dru as a monster! However, the rangers are unaware of this, and proceed to battle. He escapes. Jack races back to SPD Headquarters to show Sky that Dru isn't in his room--Sky declares that it doesn't mean anything. At that moment, it is announced that Cruger is returning, and the five rangers go to greet his "royal" return. When informing him on the recent happenings, Sky then believes Dru is a monster, and apologizes for letting him into the academy...Commander Cruger is then shot by a hidden Dru. Sky chases after him, and the two exchange words. It is revealed that Dru is trying to kill Cruger because Broodwing will pay him a large sum of money. Dru escapes.

         Cruger is under medical observation. He regains consciousness, but is still in bad condition. Meanwhile, Dru is yelled at by Broodwing to kill Cruger. The rangers find Dru, and Sky battles him alone first. When the other four rangers show up, Dru's monster form has grown into a giant, and the zords show up to aid the rangers. After a fight, the monster is back to his normal sized and transformed back into human form. Sky takes him under arrest.

Later, Gruumm complains about his loss, and notes that his next move will be victorious. Meanwhile, Sky has to clean the entire entrance and semenaries of SPD with his toothbrush for letting Dru into the academy, which is against regulations. Jack offers to help, and the two become friends again...until Sky reveals that he is using Jack's toothbrush.
