By himself, Cruger grieves over the battle on Sirius which took everything from him. He challenges Gruumm to a fight, which he accepts. Later in SPD, Cruger is upset that Commander Birdy, a supreme commanding officer, is visiting. When the two speak in the command center, it is obvious that Birdy means business, and has a 10-foot pole up his ass. It’s also clear that Cruger doesn’t like taking orders from him, but must. When a robot attacks, the rangers gear up and deploy the Delta Squad Megazord.
While the rangers fight the unknown monster, Birdy critiques each move the rangers make and yells at Cruger, even after they win the battle. Birdy orders Cruger to split the team up for good, but he says no, and is relieved of his duties. Birdy takes command of SPD. Later, Kat and Birdy exchange an awkward set of words. This moment is interrupted when an unusual energy reading is found in the city, and the rangers are called upon. However, Birdy tells only Red, Blue, and Green to investigate. The three rangers are greeted by Gruumm on a motorcycle, and they all get their butts kicked.
When the rangers report their loss to Birdy, he is angered, and goes to fight Gruumm himself. Before he goes to fight, he reports the presence of a wanted criminal in C-Sector, and tells Yellow and Pink to investigate. Meanwhile in another area, Birdy challenges Gruumm, who arrives. Birdy gets his ass kicked as well, but then Cruger shows up as Shadow Ranger, riding his new ATV, and saves him. Meanwhile, Z and Syd defeat Changtor, but he grows into a zord-sized monster. The girls call on the other three rangers. They arrive and the five form the Delta Squad Megazord, and finally contain him. Later, Birdy praises the rangers’ efforts, and Cruger is able to command SPD. He also praises Anubis Cruger for his efforts, as well. Later, that same ball of light goes flying by…
