Uninvited Guests - 06.03.02

Rose: I don't believe it.
Paul: What? Did you invite him?
Rose: Of course I didn't. Did you? Sorry I even asked.
Emily: Excuse me. I know this is a ridiculous question, but did you invite Craig to your engagement party?
Rose: I know this is ridiculous, but I guess he just hooked up with Rosanna or something.
Emily: Oh, that's just an awful image.
Rose: You know what? I'm not gonna even deal with it. Because whatever Craig has done bad in the past, it's - so you bring back Carly.
Paul: Don't you love it when she gets all tolerant and nonjudgmental?
Emily: Yeah, as long as she doesn't make a habit of it.
Rose: No, don't worry. The next uninvited guest gets the Hoboken heave ho.

(clinking of glass)
Lucinda: Hello. Friends, please - would you indulge me, please? I would like to make a toast. Now, there is nobody in this room that needs to be reminded of the terrible, tortuous ordeal that Rose has survived. Tortuous ordeal - a nightmare that actually could have been obviated with better law enforcement mechanism in the town of Oakdale as a matter of fact, I was - I was reading something this morning -
Lily: Mother! Mother! Mother!
Lucinda: What? (laughs) No need to digress. This is a pledge. Now that our Paul - our Paul Ryan has his Rosie O'Grady by his side, nothing must be allowed to jeopardize or temper or in anyway subvert their lifelong happiness. So I give you (Barbara walks into Java Underground) - are you - are you stark-raving mad? What in the name of god makes you believe that you would be welcome here this evening? I'm just asking a simple question here in open court. Why are you plaguing us with your presence?
Marshall: No apologies. You have every right to be here.
Barbara: Forgive me, Lucinda. I need to greet the happy couple.
Paul: Tonight was suppose to be for me and Rose. And now it's about you, as always.
Barbara: No. It was important for me to be here so I can wish you both all the happiness that life has to offer. Best of luck. I love you, son.

Paul: Excuse us. I'm sorry. You shouldn't have had to see -
Rose: Ah, you know, it's not your fault. I'll tell - let me tell you, Paulie, you got a nice set of parents.
Paul: Yeah, I know, it doesn't seem fair, does it? You get James Stenbeck as a father-in-law, and I get Joe D'Angelo.
Rose: Speaking of which, where the heck is my pop?

Let me help you - 06.04.02/06.05.02

Mitzi: That Coleman creep wants your diamond. And he wants you to get on a plane and fly to who knows where with who knows who. (cell phone rings) and I'm not letting you do it, Rose.
Rose: Don't - don't answer that!
Mitzi: Listen -
Rose: Please don't answer that.
Mitzi: We both know who this is, okay? This is the chance to hold on to the love in your life and trust it. You're not alone anymore, Rose. You're not.
Paul (on the phone): Mitzi? Mitzi, it's Paul.
Mitzi (holds the phone out for Rose): Answer him.
Paul: Mitzi, if you know anything about Rose, anything at all, just -
Mitzi: Hello?
Paul: Mitzi, thank God.
Mitzi: Hold on a sec, Paul.
Paul: Mitzi, I'm losing my mind over here. You've gotta tell me if you know where I can find Rose.
Rose: Paul?
Paul: Rose? Baby, are you okay? Look, I don't know what's going on, or if you can even talk to me right now, but just all you have to do is say yes or no. Do you need my help?
Rose (on the phone): Will you ever forgive me for walking out on our engagement party? I - you know that I would never do that unless it was a matter of life and death.
Paul: No, I know everything. Nancy Hughes told me about your father being missing. Have you found him?
Rose: No, not yet.
Paul: Is Henry Coleman there?
Rose: Everything's fine, I promise. Everything's okay. You just have to stop worrying.
Paul: Well, Rose, that's just not an option. This is about that diamond, isn't it?
Rose: I got everything under control.
Paul: Well, I'm not letting you go through this alone. This Coleman guy is bad news. You can't trust him!
Rose: I can handle it. I can!
Henry: No police. And think really hard about dear old dad before the next sentence comes out of your mouth.
Mitzi: You outta be ashamed of yourself! You don't wanna know what's gonna happen to you when Mr. D's safe again.
Henry: Ooh, ouch!
Paul: Rose - Rose, are you all right?! Hello?!
Rose: I'm here, Paul.
Paul: All right, tell me where you are right now. We said we would go through everything together. Now, damn it, let me help you.
Rose: I would, but - he's telling me that I shouldn't tell you anything.
Paul: Well, babe, he - he is not the person you should be trusting right now. You should be trusting me. Now please, trust me.
Paul (on the phone): All right, Rose, listen to me. I will come and I will meet you. Okay, no cops. And we will deal with this thing together.
Rose: I don't know if that's such a good idea.
Paul: Have you even talked to your father? I mean, do you even know for sure that Henry really has him?
Rose: Now that you mention it - no.
Paul: All right, just tell me where you are, Rose.
Rose: I'll call you back. (hangs up and turns to Henry) Do you know how crazy this is? My fiancé is worried sick that I'm gonna be taken off on the night of our engagement party. And I cannot do that to him!
Henry: Well, you will do it to him if you wanna see your father again.
Rose: You know what? I got your whatchamacallit, the provenance for the diamond, right? This is what you wanted, right? This is what you wanted. I got it right here. But then I'm supposed to get proof that my pop is still alive and he's doing fine. I got bupkes!
Rose: Here's another thing - you call those people who supposedly have my father, and you tell them, let him go. 'Cause when Paul gets here, he's gonna rip that head off that scrawny, little neck of yours. Paul, it's me.
Paul: Rose? Rose, tell me where you are. Talk to me.
Henry: What's he saying now?
Rose: He wants to know where I am, obviously.
Henry: Well, your safety depends on your answer, Rose. Be smart.
Rose: I'm at Java - upstairs in the coffee shop. Come alone.
Paul: I'm on my way.

Bookends - 06.05.02/06.06.02

Pilot: Flight attendants, please prepare the cab and secure the doors. We're clear for takeoff.
(Paul slips into the seat next to Rose.)
Rose: This is good. This is good. Be sandwiched the whole way, the whole trip.
Paul: Problem, Miss? Hello.
Paul: We have about an hour till we get to Mexico City.
Rose: Oh. Tell it to my belly. I don't how I'll keep zigging when the rest of me keeps zagging and zigging and zagging.
Paul: You a little airsick?
Rose: Oh, I think I lost my stomach somewhere over the Rio Grande.
Paul: I'll go up to the galley and get you some club soda. How about that?
Rose: You'd do that for me?
Paul: Of course.
Rose: My mama would call you "Dolce." That means sweet.
Paul: Aren't you glad I pushed myself into this mess?
Rose: Yeah, I am.
Paul: Okay.
Rose: Thanks. No, no, that seat is - ah - taken.
Henry: I've been trying to get your attention since we left Oakdale.
Rose: Until you tell me how we're gonna get my pop out of the mess you got him into, I got nothin' to say to you.
Henry: Rose, you have got to unload boyfriend up there, okay?
Rose: Oh, please, no. No way. And he's not my boyfriend. He's my fiancé. Can you pronounce that? We're engaged.
Henry: Oh, that's sweet. Unless you wanna be engaged to a corpse, listen to me and get rid of him fast.
Rose: You know, I have had it up to my eyeballs with you tellin' me how people I love are gonna get killed.
Henry: My partner is a loose cannon, Rose. That, unfortunately, is the good news. The bad news is that he's working with this guy. And this guy will kill your fiancé, if he continues to interfere. Not to mention what he'll do to dear old pop.
Rose: No. I am not givin' Paul the gate. He's staying here with me. Get used to it.
Henry: Suit yourself. Speaking of which, I hope Paul packed a nice, dark suit. You don't have to worry about the shoes, 'cause they never see the feet of the deceased.
Rose: Enough, okay? Enough! I couldn't get rid of Paul, even if I wanted to. So that's it.
Henry: Sure you could.
Rose: How am I gonna do that? Oh - I tell you, this plane ride is worse than the Cyclone at Coney Island. Oh, my God.
Henry: Why don't you use those?
Rose: These things? No, they just - they don't do anything. They don't help. They just make you sleep.
Henry: I'm talking about Paul. Why don't you slip a few motion sickness pills into his OJ? He'll sleep like a baby. We can get off the plane. He'll never know we left.
Rose: I'm supposed to drug the love of my life and leave him here on the plane? I don't think so, no.
Henry: Why don't you think of it this way? You give Paul 40 winks so that he can stay alive to be with you for another 40 years. Hmm?
Paul: Hey, Henry. Good to see you. I got an idea for you. How about you get the hell out of my seat?
Henry: Yes, sir. What are you two? Bookends? You know what? I was just over here. I was trying to get her in-flight magazine because the crossword puzzle in mine has been done. So thank you, thank you. Toodles, kids.
Paul: Here you go. Sip this slowly. It'll make you feel better.
Rose: You're too good to me.
Paul: No such thing. So what'd he really want?
Rose: Oh, he just - he wanted to tell me what's gonna happen when we get off the - I'm so sick, you know. I barely understood what he said.
Paul: Hey, you're gonna be fine. Trust me. So will Joe.
Rose: I don't know what I would do without you, really.
Paul: See? See, that's another thing you'll never have to worry about again.
Flight Attendant: Welcome to Mexico City, the final destination of Flight 202. Please remember to take your belongings from the overhead compartments. Have a wonderful stay. (speaking in Spanish)
Henry: We have to leave, Rose.
Rose: I cannot just leave him here like this. What if I gave him too many pills?
Henry: You gave him two, Rose. Now sing him a lullaby. The clean-up crew can deal with him. He'll be fine.
Rose: I can't believe you talked me into this, doing this to Paul. This is not right.
Henry: Well, it's better than him being filleted like a flounder by Cooley and company, isn't it? Do you want to save your dad or not?
Rose: All right.
Henry: Now, Rose.
Rose: I cannot believe I'm taking orders from a schlemiel like you. You know what? Forget it. That's it. I'm staying here. I'm just staying right here with Paul I'm not going anywhere.
Henry: Fine. Stay here with sleeping beauty. I can't drag you off the plane without calling attention to myself. But I want you to think about how it's going to be marrying your beloved without old pop to give you away. No last dance with daddy at the reception.
Rose: Oh, okay. I'm telling you right now, once we get Pop back, I'm gonna make your life a livin' hell.
Henry: Okay, whatever.
Rose (to a passed out Paul): I love you. I'm sorry. I'll make this up to you, I promise.
