Helena Cassadine, is the dangerous matriarch of the Cassadine clan. She is Stefan's mother and Nikolas' grandmother. Helena is also the personification of evil and will stop at nothing -- even murder -- to get what she wants.
Aside from Stefan, Helena also had another son, Stavros. Stavros was the only son Helena ever loved and she often made that point clear to Stefan, whom she thought weak and boring. When Stavros was killed after doing battle with Luke, Helena swore revenge on Luke and Laura.
Helena has more enemies than she has friends, but this fact doesn't bother her in the slightest. Some of Helena's most horrendous actions include killing Alexis' mother and being behind Laura's disappearance from the Port Charles docks.
Helena has always hated Alexis, the illegitimate daughter of her late husband Mikkos, and forced Alexis to do her bidding most of her life. When Alexis finally stood up to Helena and refused to be her pawn any longer, Helena tried to run Alexis down with her car. Helena's plot backfired when Chloe Morgan was struck instead.
In 1998, Helena set another plan against Luke and Laura in motion when she kidnapped Lucky and held him away from Port Charles for a year. Helena gave Lucky his freedom, but is still managing to control his mind, which would explain Lucky's strange behavior.
More recently, Helena "murdered" Stefan and has no idea that she really played right into Stefan's hands
