Sweetwater Station
Character Profile

William F. Cody
portrayed by Stephen Baldwin

Very little of Cody's childhood and family experiences are known.  When he joined the Express he had already perfected his shooting ability; even Jimmy had to admit that Cody was a better distance-shot than he was.  Gifted with a winning smile and a healthy appetite, Cody made friends amongst the other riders easily, perhaps taking most easily to Jimmy.  He found love several times but circumstances always seemed to conspire against him in romance.  Cody was a big fan of naturalist/author Hezekiah Horne, and became a proponent of the environmentalist causes that Horne espoused.  He also fancied himself a budding author: the publication of his "On The Trail with the Pony Express" in "True Tales of the West", encouraged his literary leanings but earned earned him the wrath of his fellow riders, who didn't take kindly to the his descriptions of them.  Cody's boundless enthusiasm and infectious spirit never wanted, even as more serious matters began to grip the countryside. Cody may have left the Express to join the Army as a scout, but it's certain his friends always remained close to his heart.
