She tried one dress after another
Modeled in front of her brother.
Saying “Is this the one I like?
Would this one look good for the eyes of Mike?”
Her brother shook his dark head
While his heart filled with dread.
Finding the one that was just right
Was going to take all night.
After two hours of trying dresses on
Her brother said he was gone.
Audra looked at him with glee
“Oh goodie, I’m free!”
She tried on
every dress in the store
And there was no more.
She sighed and looked again
And there it was in sight plain.
It was a shade of green
Never before seen
Her brother came back
And saw that dress stack.
The brother let out a sigh
And told her the time was nigh
To pick out one frilly frock
And no more silly talk.
She glared at her dark haired brother
Picked out the dress and on other
He paid for her dresses
As she played with her blonde tresses.
They climbed into the surrey
As they left for home in a flurry
She thought of her beau, Mike
And hoped the dress he would like.
They all went to the dance
In her green dress she did prance
Her brothers watched as pride
As the couple came to their side.
“See my brothers, I’m having fun”
She said, shaking her head of golden sun.
She twirled around in her dress of green
Flashing them the biggest smile they have ever seen!
The dance was over and done,
The townspeople had gone
She loved that dress of green
That her brothers had never seen.
